Caroline Farrow update

You'll all recall that a few weeks ago Caroline Farrow was arrested by police, having been accused by a person (can't remember if we're now allowed to say their name) of posting malicious content about them on Kiwi Farms. Caroline had the cast-iron alibi that she was playing the organ in church at the time the content was posted.

When she was arrested her laptop and phone were seized. She has now found out why her phone was seized:

Apparently someone had posted on Kiwi Farms a court order that showed that the complainant has an outstanding debt of £29k to Associated Newspapers and demanded that they attended court for questioning over their finances.

Associated Newspapers own the Mail, by the way - this person, who is notoriously litigious, had a legal action against them which they lost.

Of course, Caroline was able to prove that she was not the person who posted the court order.

She also wonders how it is that "the police can be used as private militia in this way."

That's something we'd all like to know the answer to.

indeed let us know if Caroline needs more funds .

eurochick · 28/10/2022 19:00

This investigation is an absolute disgrace. The police need to devote their resources to solving crimes rather than harassing women whose views some people find objectionable.

DrLouiseJMoody · 28/10/2022 19:07

Clearly, a Costs Order is a public document which anyone is entitled to buy. It does not follow from:

(A) X bought a Costs Order.

That,

(B) X posted, or encouraged the posting of, that Order on Kiwi Farms.

Something recognised in the scathing judgement today in addition to the fact that much discussion on Kiwi Farms may not constitute harassment given the legitimate interest in someone's numerous unsuccessful legal claims. The judge was also perplexed at the claimant actively seeking out the "alleged harassment."

I hope X, whoever they are, is having a very jolly day, perhaps not so for the unsuccessful claimant.

So I could say that I think my neighbour has posted something about me online and the police will take that seriously and go and arrest them and seize their devices?!

What the heck is going on here.

VestofAbsurdity · 28/10/2022 19:19

No, unfortunately you have to be a member of the sacred caste @LizzieSiddal which excludes females.

TotallyTERF · 28/10/2022 19:22

Sadly, this police force will be pushing to prosecute Caroline given how mocked they've been over this sorry episode Sad

For what? Murdering some hymn tunes maybe?Confused

SnapeAlways · 28/10/2022 19:40

TBF when it comes to murdering hymn tunes, guilty as charged mi’lud.

So I could say that I think my neighbour has posted something about me online and the police will take that seriously and go and arrest them and seize their devices?!

Sadly, yes.

As Surrey police said a communication was said to have been made which constituted something that was grossly offensive or indecent.

I was arrested so that my devices could be seized to prove or disprove this allegation.

The police told me that they HAD to arrest me because the alleged offences had occurred online so they to seize my devices.

On booking in, the arresting officers told the custody sargeant that the offences I was being booked in a cell for, constituted posting offensive messages online.

They said that it was alleged that I had done this anonymously which was why they needed my electronics.

The court order was part of a long laundry list of bizarre allegations to which they said “we haven’t been provided with the evidence of this yet”.

But essentially yes. I was arrested because of a feeling in the water of a person who clearly doesn’t like me very much.

BordoisAgain · 28/10/2022 19:47

Did I see something (maybe Louise or Caroline posted it?) saying pootle was 1 thrown out case away from automatically becoming a vexatious litigator?

ItsLateHumpty · 29/10/2022 00:02

What I find absolutely delicious is that had this particular individual not bought such action the fact that an outstanding debt of £29k to Associated Newspapers and demanded that they attended court for questioning over their finances. would have stayed on the Farms but now the info is gambolling all over the place hahahahaha brilliant!

Would this be a practical demonstration of the Streisand effect 🤔

Ofcourseshecan · 29/10/2022 01:06

What gets me is that the police can be used as private militia in this way.

Me too. I would like our politicians to start noticing how often this has been done in the past few years. Why are they allowing our officially non-partisan police force to harass critics of one unrepresentative group, the gender identity movement? There would be outrage if the police were harassing people for expressing other mainstream political opinions.

Pixiedust1234 · 29/10/2022 02:54

Thanks for the update.

So they only had the word of one person, with zero evidence except them saying Caroline is mean to me. How the hell did it get past a judge for the court order to be signed for the arrest? What does the person have over a certain ranked officer who agreed to get an order in the first place and set this all in motion? Thats two shady officers of the law. Is it blackmail, funny handshakes or a belief that children aren't children, or am I missing something else here?

So many questions.

longcovidquestions · 29/10/2022 03:00

sounds pretty fucking dodgy to me

SnapeAlways · 29/10/2022 10:37

It didn’t need a court order.

I was arrested which then gave them the powers to seize my devices.

Had a warrant been applied for via a magistrate it would have been denied, hence arrest was the easier option.

I also suspect I was arrested because the complainant put in a victim review complaint after their initial report in May was NFA-ed.

Only if the neighbour is a woman IMHO

RoyalCorgi · 29/10/2022 10:56

@SnapeAlways There's loads of stuff I don't understand about this, but am I right in thinking that the user who posted the court order on Kiwi Farms went by the name KitKat? And that it was also KitKat who posted all the allegedly offensive stuff about the claimant? And that because you have proved, conclusively, that you were playing the church organ at the time the court order was posted, you have definitively proved that you are not KitKat? And that therefore the police's arrest and questioning of you has not just been distressing for you and your family, but also a complete waste of police resources?

XanaduKira · 29/10/2022 11:00

@SnapeAlways so sorry for what you and your family have been through. It's truly shocking & despicable that the police behave in this way.

I hope you and your family are ok.

SnapeAlways · 29/10/2022 12:20

The name of the person who posted the court order was “Notso Jolly Halliday”.

I wasn’t questioned about being that person, but I was asked about whether or not I had passed information to third parties for them to post on the site.

I was questioned over whether or not I was “Kit Kat” who posts photoshopped memes and also questioned whether I was the poster “Real Mutha for Ya”.

I told the police that both Kit Kat and RMFY have posted at times when it’s simply impossibly for me to be posting anonymously on KiwiFarms such as for example, when I was playing the organ at Mass.

On Saturday 18 June, the complainant intimated that I was Kit Kat on Twitter, so I went on the Farms and, in order to put a stop to the nonsense, said that I would be in church between a certain time frame.

During that time about 6 posters who I am alleged to be, all came on the site and posted, including when I was accompanying DD singing the psalm!

I told the police that over the past few years I have been accused of being several different posters. At one point I was accused of posting while on an EasyJet flight (no WiFi) and another when presenting to a group of 40 people including an RC Bishop!

This is why I took the unusual and controversial step of posting in my own name about 18 months ago, because these people would not stop reporting me to the police.

I was also asked by the police if I was a number of the posters on a 2018 thread on here, which saw Mumsnet taken to court.

The complainant only came across my radar when they began threatening me in 2019, after Dr Harrop tweeted the Pope!

I’m not all the Farmers, Mumsnetters or RIPX4Nutmeg and neither am I responsible for cartoons or other material, 3rd parties choose to post.

I was talking to DH about this and he said wryly, “I wish you had the same control over the DC as you are supposed to exercise over grown adults”!

But basically the police arrested me and took my devices because a transwoman has said that I am linked to shitposting on the internet. That even if I didn’t make the posts themselves, I might have talked to those who did!

pattihews · 29/10/2022 12:32

I presume you've taken all this to your MP? And the PCCs of whichever forces were involved?

Is there a journalist out there who would do an article on everything that has happened to Caroline?

IcakethereforeIam · 29/10/2022 12:45

Article? This would make a book!

Beggars belief.

pattihews · 29/10/2022 12:55

No one's going to buy the book. But a TV drama would do the trick...

SnapeAlways · 29/10/2022 12:57

My MP is very well aware.

In a nutshell what we have is a transwoman who wants to build a career as a public figure off the back of their trans status but doesn’t like people talking about their extremely colourful past and doubting their credentials on the internet.

As Mumsnet and the Mail and a number of lawyers and media outlets know, anyone who dares to say anything they don’t like, reports things the wrong way, or gives legal help to their defendants, is sued and reported to regulators.

While the complaints are invariably vexatious, its a deliberate PITA, to act as a deterrent effect.

The trans issue is relevant because this is what is being weaponised.

I suspect the complainant is dying for a career as a legal or political pundit and is trying using to their transgender status as their unique USP, in a similar way to India Willoughby.

I don’t think they really want to be talking about transgender issues, unless it’s from a legal perspective and would much rather be the eccentric figure wheeled out to discuss the historical precedent regarding royal toothpaste throughout the ages and the name of Disraeli’s cousin’s cat!

eurochick · 29/10/2022 13:11

Surely Lisa Townsend should be all over this.

RoyalCorgi · 29/10/2022 13:14

Thanks for the explanation, Caroline. To me, it all seems extraordinary and quite, quite mad.

If this person had no evidence that these people posting about him on Kiwi Farms were really you, how on earth could the police have taken the complaint seriously? That's a rhetorical question. I'm just amazed at how shockingly poor the police are at their job. I probably shouldn't be by now.

I am also interested in his decision to take on Associated Newspapers. He lost that case and now owes them £29k. Surely making an enemy of the Mail is deeply unwise? Won't they go after him for the money? Might they not investigate a bit more deeply into his affairs and expose some of the information that is already available if you've read any of the Kiwi Farms threads about him? I can confidently say that if he tries suing the Mail for libel, he does not stand a snowball's chance in hell.
