"Bloomsbury said sales of the wizarding stories had jumped 35pc in the first half of the year – a quarter of a century since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was first released."

How satisfying.

Thank you JKR.

pink85 · 26/10/2022 17:22

As Ron would say 'bloody brilliant!'

Birdsweepsin · 26/10/2022 18:03

Streisand effect?

heathspeedwell · 26/10/2022 19:21

Good! She deserves it, and every Penny she makes from it- she’s brilliant!

GrumpyMenopausalWombWielder · 26/10/2022 19:38

Off to look for the 3rd then. 👀

ChlorineChris · 26/10/2022 19:49

Great!

Can't have too many copies, can you?

And there's always a.lovely new generation who need the joy of ownership too!!

StaunchMomma · 26/10/2022 19:51

Regardless of anyone's opinion on JK Rowling, denying kids the absolute joy of reading the HP series is just bloody stupid.

mcduffy · 26/10/2022 19:52

Got the audiobook of the first one on now for bedtime, and two versions of the books at home. Plus most of the Lego sets and the X box game. My DDs are obsessed and my DH is very happy to engage them in HP conversation at every opportunity. I need to swot up!

zanahoria · 26/10/2022 19:52

How does it keep selling? Doesn't everyone already own a copy?

The illustrated Order of the Phoenix was just released. Is there another illustrated range I don't know about?

I don't and have never even picked a copy of one of the books up !

ShowOfHands · 26/10/2022 20:01

I've just bought the illustrated Order of the Phoenix for the dc to add to their collection.

MsTSwift · 26/10/2022 20:02

Not a HP fan but buying all the Robert Galbraith books. In hardback.

Children are learning to read every day.

JubileeTrifle · 26/10/2022 20:03

I’m so shocked she hasn’t been cancelled by this tiny minority of idiots. Shocked. Ha.

JamSandle · 26/10/2022 20:08

The books will never lose popularity.

VeryLittleOwl · 26/10/2022 20:08

The original Harry Potter books have just been put into Kindle Unlimited too, which will have given them a huge visibility boost on Amazon. When I was browsing the other day she held 8 out of the top 10 spots on their fiction chart - the latest Strike novel is in 2nd place and Richard Osman's novels at 1 and 10, every other book was Harry Potter.

I've just bought DD her first copy at aged 7. I've read them but they were library/kindle books. I wanted her to have her very own.

LilithImpala67 · 26/10/2022 20:11

@NC12345665 have you seen the Minalima versions, they are amazing. There are only for the first two books at the moment though.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 26/10/2022 20:11

I am currently terming in a major city in Western Europe and have been commenting all week about how much HP merch we are seeing everywhere.

mainly Gryffindor with a bit of a segue into Slytherin.

But tbh it is all a glorious sight.

JKR is the Queen of everywhere.
