Woman raped in women’s refuge Canada

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 19/10/2022 07:14

A known rapist identified as a woman to access a shelter in Ontario and raped a woman.
It’s reported by reduxx but will probably not even be reported by the mainstream press there.
It just goes against everything that they were originally set up for, which was to keep women safe.

Every time I think it can't get worse, it does.

This is absolutely obscene and every single politician who advocated for, supported, silently enabled the legislation that led to this should be utterly ashamed. I'd like to see criminal charges, and not just for the man who raped this woman in the place she should have been safest.

Please stop the world because I really want to get off.

But these things never happen. Look at the countries with self-ID, like Canada and RoI, how successful it is and it hasn't caused any problems.

The only reason this hasn't been a bigger issue in Ireland IMO is that two of the three transgender prioners (that we know of) who are housed in the women's prison, are confined to their cell most of the time. I don't know how sustainable that approach is in the longer term. One of these prisoners the notorious BK, the other possiby the person convicted of serious sexual assault of their stepson.

That poor woman in Canada. Her attack was entirely preventable.

MoltenLasagne · 19/10/2022 10:09

Surely the shelter could be held liable for enabling this? That poor woman, victim of entirely predictable outcome.

No the shelter is only following the law.

It is bad law.

It is the politicians that enacted the law who are responsible.

You haven't apologised for misgendering a poor oppressed rapist, you appalling bigot.

I was just about to point that out.

I still remember the first report I read of a tw in a Canadian women’s shelter who was (literally) dancing around waving tw’s penis — and the shelter worker explaining that ‘she’ was clearly disturbed and upset, as many other women are when they come to a refuge …..

thenightsky · 19/10/2022 10:19

But how did this rapist even get offered a place in a refuge anyway? You cannotjust rock up and say 'I'm a woman, let me in'. A dear friend of mine has been trying to escape her abusive marriage for years now and she's never managed to get a place when her DH blows up on her. The police get called, they take HER away to a relatives for the night, she sees her EDAN Lincs caseworker, who tells her there are no refuge spaces within 100 miles or more. So she ends up going back to the bastard again.

Who was this rapist saying he was running from? Who was he terrified of?

HermioneKipper · 19/10/2022 10:21

And there we are. Exactly what we said would happen.

but it never happens right?

Enraging. They really don’t care about women in Canada, do they?

They don't care about women anywhere. They come second to ludicrous Self ID ideology.

See this is the thing.

Once the big lie, TWAW, is believed then anything that person says must also be believed.

The truth is that service providers are probably shit scared of being hauled for discrimination for not providing the service to a TW that the same criteria are not applied.

You only need to look at the likes of Jessica Yaniv to see the lengths that some TW will go to to be refused a service and then to bring a discrimination claim.

Bad laws enable this. Blame the politicians that lobby for them without a care for their impact on women and children.

littlbrowndog · 19/10/2022 10:37

Thing tha5 gets me is that the workers said they were to afraid to say no to this man

that’s where Scotland will be. Everyone too afraid to say no to abusive men as they can just say they are women

will be a hate crime

334bu · 19/10/2022 10:41

In Canada if you say you are a woman then the refuge can't legally exclude you. Not surprisingly when the law was changed their Inspector of Prisons admitted that over 60% of prisoners in male prisons now seeking transfer to women's prisons were sex offenders.

Quite.

There is no way to indulge and enable male humans in this desire without harming and disadvantaging females.

Even if all those males were perfectly behaved and respectful towards females, they still harm and disadvantage by their presence and biological reality alone.

What we're seeing now is even if the harm is the life-destroying trauma of being raped.... it is still much more important to indulge and enable male desires than to care about this.

And balance up the male supremacism of it - it is perfectly acceptable for females to be told no when they express a deeply held wish for provision, to feel afraid, to be retraumatised, to be excluded, to be physically damaged and injured...

but absolutely unthinkable to say no to a male.

Why is anyone still pretending at this point to believe that those males are in some way women? This is fantastically dimorphic sex based values.

Swivellingbrat · 19/10/2022 11:17

@RFPO77

Ha! I haven’t shown it to her yet! She has drunk the kool-aid and has had a TRA flatmate for a while. Flatmate looks like a bloke in woman’s clothing and a wig and has suffered violence from other males, so I can see why she feels sorry for him.

Many of her generation (early mid 20s are the same). She’s a bloody handmaid but is slowly waking up. Doesn’t think men should compete in female sports for example.

Waiting for the right moment…

AngrySad

Angry This is so often trotted out.

"Oh they should've done a better risk assessment"
"oh that was going to happen anyway, it's nothing to do with anyone being trans"
"Oh it's only that one woman". then the next one, and the next one...

ANewCreation · 19/10/2022 11:35

"Women rape too" is another...

inheritanceshiteagain · 19/10/2022 11:39

Maybe the woman could sue the government along with the refuge and hit them where it really hurts.

MilesOfCarpetTiles · 19/10/2022 11:43

Forgot the biggest one - 'this woman's rape is being weaponised'.

Actual people who have presumably more than a handful of brain cells and pretend to 'be kind' come out with this one surprisingly often.

ArabellaScott · 19/10/2022 12:05

This would never happen in the UK

NotBadConsidering · 19/10/2022 12:11

I wonder who the hell didn't care.

The worst thing is, they still won’t. There will be politicians like Trudeau and Sturgeon who will have this incident clearly pointed out to them, and do absolutely nothing in reaction. Trudeau will do nothing to stop this happening again and Sturgeon will do nothing to stop this happening in Scotland.

The absolute contempt they show for vulnerable women is disgusting.

it is infuriating that nobody will be hold responsible! It's hard to believe that all this madness is real and it's getting worse by the day

TheBiologyStupid · 19/10/2022 12:22

At the time, Green told detectives he was “having bad thoughts about hurting someone and when she saw the victim, her thoughts overcame his actions.”

The usual mangled pronouns.

A St Mungo’s spokesman said: "We are sure readers will understand that we do not comment on individual client circumstances. [...] Trans women are welcome in our women-only services and spaces, in accordance with the law and our values as a charity."

This is transphobic dog whistle reporting.
It didn’t really happen because this never happens.
And if it did happen the offender wasn’t really trans.
But men don’t pretend to be trans to access women so it didn’t happen.
And if it did happen they can call the Police so there’s no problem.
And anyway transwomen are subjected to so much more violence so don’t talk about VAW.
And the woman and the shelter and the newspaper and anyone who argues it’s wrong are linked to the far right and/or fundamental Christian groups in the USA.

Have I missed anything?

Yes, you've also got to bash JKR a bit for no particular reason.

Other than that, you did it beautifully, well done for being on the rIgHt sIdE oF hIsToRy
