The first thread, towards the end of which there was a discussion about having a second thread but it wasn't added:

Mermaids being investigated by the charity commission

There's been a new development so maybe a second thread would be useful:

Lottery pauses trans charity cash during investigation

Wasn't it West Yorks Police that sent two officers to interview KJK about a complaint from SG after KJK described what was done to SG's child as castration? The two officers travelled to Somerset and spent a night in a B&B, so not a cheap trip.

Shakenotslurred · 13/10/2022 21:08

weren’t WYP complicit in helping to finer up the Savile scandal?

Yep.

Thanks, Clog - that's a worrying series of posts though. Have WYP learned nothing? Apparently not.

TheClogLady · 13/10/2022 21:12

WYP arrested KJK at the Leeds Standing for Women event in 2020 too:

In the interests of there being impartiality and impartiality being seen it would be more appropriate for another Force to investigate if such an investigation is done.

And that is in itself a statement highlighting the problem.

TheClogLady · 13/10/2022 21:16

I have a time stamp for the comment re: Jackie being best friends with the Hate Crime Officer in SG’s Ted talk:

Suse actually says ‘West Leeds’, not sure if that’s correct or if it was a
misspeak mash up of ‘West Yorks’ and ‘Leeds’?

if the timestamped link doesn’t work (might need to click through) it’s 11m 35 secs.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/10/2022 21:17

Well this is going to be interesting. I've been waiting for something that will expose the police's complete lack of impartiality - hopefully this will be the case to expose what is frankly potential corruption. Along with the corruption of the DBS system. Hopefully one of the swathe of journalists who have finally got their teeth into what is going on will highlight this.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/10/2022 21:25

I have a hazy recollection WHICH MIGHT NOT BE ACCURATE that SG's ex-husband and father of her child was a police officer. Does anyone else recall this?

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/10/2022 21:28

@MrsOvertonsWindow, I really wish James Kirkup would revisit the subject. He did a lot of digging a couple of years back, as did Andrew Gilligan.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 13/10/2022 21:43

I can't confirm it, Bore, but I have the same hazy recollection.

IcakethereforeIam · 13/10/2022 21:46

Completely irrelevant but...that top, and the trainers!

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/10/2022 21:48

Thanks Gasp0de.

Not husband, but perhaps a post divorce boyfriend?

From the Yorkshire Post - Green left her ex husband in London when she moved to Leeds…

I meant to get screenshots earlier, but did anyone see on Twitter today when anyone mentioned mermaids_gender the handle was greyed out? You could still find the account page in the search bar, so they haven't taken down their account, but it was grey rather than black on links and you couldn't click through to their account from the tweet itself Hmm I'm not blocked!

Screen shots of 2016 Charity Commission returns when it looks as though 3 names were not made public, to do with trustee / safeguarding roles at Mermaids:

Posie Parker was arrested by the captured police for using the word castration, as Susie Green felt it had shades of sex offender about it. Talk about spurious. Because a) no it doesn't, and b) so what if it did.

But it still took two officers to come into another county, and stay overnight, to question Posie Parker.

So yes, I agree with the previous poster who says that captured police need looking at now, urgently. All these bogus non crime hate incidents, the fact that Green posted that Jackie Green was great friends with someone in the police force, and the ridiculous, quite deliberate loopholes of the DBS checks.

I know the papers have got the bit between their teeth. I hope they're in this for the long haul, because it's huge.

ToiletTroubles · 13/10/2022 23:49

Someone mentioned the Social Work England case upthread - just seen this on Twitter:

Hope link works - first time

FannyCann · 14/10/2022 00:07

On the subject of castration - is this still referred to as a small birth defect?

This is in the Scotland section of The Times today, about complaints made to the Charity Commission in 2020 about Mermaids sending binders to young teenage girls:

Charity watchdog ‘ignored alert from mother over trans service’

“The Charity Commission said: “We assess all concerns raised with us about any charity carefully. As we are conducting an ongoing regulatory compliance case involving Mermaids, it would be inappropriate for us to comment in detail on our past engagement with the charity. But we encourage the parent in question to come to us directly if they feel unhappy about the way in which we dealt with their concerns about the charity in the past.”

From the Times article linked by Rex

The mother has already been back in touch with the Charity Commission and is really quite cross about the whole thing. 😡

rogdmum · 14/10/2022 06:56

She particularly does not like how the Charity Commission insists on only communicating with her via the press or social media and not direct with her.

ResisterRex · 14/10/2022 07:04

@rogdmum I can't imagine what you've been through and are still going through Flowers

This was my concern when people were encouraging others to complain to the Charity Commission when the Telegraph story began to gather steam. Also the way the NSPCC issue was handled. We only know they filed a serious incident with them from (IIRC) Sarah Phillimore and it was in Roll On Friday (the rubberwankman incident). There was never any news on the CC site to say they'd received such an incident. And we don't formally know what happened to it. Then there was the time they ran away from mumsnet...

This forms my next concern - that the NSPCC will arrive with a training package, charge for it, and be presented as the country's saviour.
