The first thread, towards the end of which there was a discussion about having a second thread but it wasn't added:

Mermaids being investigated by the charity commission
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4644323-mermaids-being-investigated-by-the-charity-commissionn_

There's been a new development so maybe a second thread would be useful:

Lottery pauses trans charity cash during investigation

So hold on, penises cause dysphoria for TW so should never be mentioned as it’s literal violence to suggest a TW has such a thing, but he has no problem plastering it all over the Internet. FML these people are batshit

Don't forget its Gender Critical Women who are 'obsessed with genitals'.

Well from where my eyes have gone cross eyed and bled today, I somewhat beg to differ.

Yeah, that’s enough genitals for one day for anyone.

Oh yeah? Wonder if they is bezzy mates with Lily Madigan? I’m sure we’d all love an up date on Lils.

Shakenotslurred · 09/10/2022 16:00

But by using creative spelling, aren’t you just showing your disdain of the narrow bigoted rules of SPAG and embracing the new world of alphafluidity?

Would an investigation into Stonewall staff be any different? Remember, they promptly appointed Aimee Challenor to their Trans Advisory Group which worked with schools when their links with a paedophile were exposed.

The only surprise in all this is that Aimee Challenor wasn't given a role at Mermaids.

I think at the time AC thought their talent would be better used as a moderator for Reddit. It did not end well 😀

Spelling and Grammar is hate speech against dyslexics.
They are Literary Violence.

That was to make it more authentic as a tabloid article Wink

MM are probably looking for moderators right now so AC could still be their next not-at-all-dodgy recruit.

We don't know that though, do we?
The two unnamed trustees?

Although, I think AC was last heard of in the USA

Can I write Tonight's Mail Article Please?

Mermaids in New Multi Dick Pic Shocker of Staff Member
This comes just days after the Children's Charity was hit by revelations of a Trustee associating with paedophiles.

Mermaids has been rocked by yet another scandal, just days after assuring the public that it was properly vetting its staff. It had admitted it had failed to check the background of Trustee Jacob Breslow, an academic in Child Studies at LSE and had relied on the reputation of his employer, after he was caught fratinising with paedos. The new explicit images bring further embarassment to the embattled organisation.

Darren Mew (in his 20s), the charities digital engagement officer with responsibility for moderating their forum where children meet with other children and adult staff, has been found plastered on the internet in what are being described as 'disturbing' images. One image features him in a baby pink and blue kit with the camera angle looking up his tartan adornment. The other, which we can not publish here, due to the Obscene Publications Act 1959, features a bleach blonde, naked Mew laid back surrounded by a Plethora of Peni.

A spokeswoman from the MN Feminist section said "WTAF ", whilst Owen Jones came out in support for Mew. He tweeted to accuse JKR of 'creating a second rate photoshop' which was 'maliciously hacked onto someone else account to destroy the career of an innocent queer'. He went further stating Rowling had deliberately put hateful messages in invisible ink in all her books which were influencing a generation of young minds in a terrifying way. Lush condemned the news and used the opportunity to annouce the launch a new range of rainbow coloured penis shaped bath bombs called 'vagina' with all proceeds going to support Stonewall. Ben Cohen of Pink News refused to comment and simply sat in the corner looking sheepish.

Mermaids have said they are "saddened by the revellation" and were not aware of any such images exisiting on the entire internet and that they "use safe search on all their computers to ensure safeguarding is complied with at all times". They said that the Charity Commission would vindict their position that the LGB Alliance were spearheading an organised and orchestrated campaign against them and all trans people. Their statement finished by saying that their offices would be closed tomorrow as they had a contractor coming to clean their hard drives following a targetted malicious computer virus attack from transphobic hate groups. They also confirmed that they had made a report to their mates down the Met for something, but they hadn't quite worked out what for or against whom yet. They are reviewing their procedures.

In underrelated news Chris Morris and Sacha Baron Cohen have put out a joint statement announcing their retirement from comedy, stating "With Great Sadness we regret to inform the public of our decision. There is no where left for satire to go, in this era of Cancel Culture".

We are getting beyond the realms where parody can walk. It really is like a scene from the last series of 'The Boys'. We have gone that far.

Its so fucking unbelieavbly awful.

People have stood by with all the red flag bunting cheering it on for YEARS. And are continue to do so.

Its now a game of seeing just who the last man standing supporting Mermaids will be and how few organisations that were part of this aren't sticking up their hands to say 'we helped fund this utter shit show' as part of their own sickening marketing strategies to boost sales. (Anyone up for a sweep stake on when OJ will reverse ferret?)

We aren't seeing businesses stand up and admit 'we properly fucked up here and regret ever being associated with this organisation'. They should be reminded of how their brand was linked with this charity.

Meanwhile children have been physically harmed after being drawn in like sailors to their doom by the lure of the siren's promises. And no one in all those political parties still seems to actually care.

GENIUS.

Yeah. AC went to the USanwith the not at all dodgy furry fiancee and I think was involved in translifeline, but I could be mistaken in that.

VestofAbsurdity · 09/10/2022 16:10

Darren certainly loves Darren's penis.

VestofAbsurdity · 09/10/2022 16:10

Girl Guides consulted Aimee or had some connection with Aimee I'm sure.

Just as well they put the disclaimer about does not constitute legal advice because it is a pile of completely incorrect bollocks, following the Stonewall pattern of Law as we want it to be or say it to be rather that the Law as it actually is.

Is that post Alison Bailey?

Keeping in mind Alison's appeal that looks like there is concern in the ranks going on here.

@RedToothBrush That is brilliant. Can I please subscribe to your newspaper?

Needmoresleep · 09/10/2022 16:38

That’s wonderful Red. The Mail pay a lot better than Pink News, and probably more than the Guardian, which hopefully Julie Bindel and other exiles have come to appreciate.

A few suggested edits. House price…or perhaps we don’t think Mew is a bricks and mortar kind of guy. A description of clothing if Mew is the kind of guy that the Mail and others are required to pretend is female. Then photos. The Mail picture editor deserves his own fan base for finding ‘pictures that speak louder than words’ pictures for trans stories. ‘Sad face’ won’t cut it but others linked above, go too far.

May 2022

diva-magazine.com/2022/03/30/author-marlo-mack-and-mermaids-darren-mew-on-allyship-trans-visibility-and-normalising-transness/

From the article:
Before our time comes to an end, I ask how Marlo and M. will be celebrating Transgender Day Of Visibility. As M. is private about her trans identity, Marlo shares that they will be honouring today quietly together. “I have always believed she should have control over when and how she discloses her trans identity. It is her information, her identity, her life – not mine. That said, I’m immensely grateful to all transgender people who have stepped into the public eye as advocates and role models. Their courage has transformed our world for the better and made my child’s life viable.”

The UK edition of How To Be A Girl contains a foreword by Mermaids CEO Susie Green, who shared her own experiences of raising her transgender daughter and the impact she felt from learning about Marlo’s journey. I was keen to hear more from the Mermaids team about the impact of the book as well as the topics it discusses. Darren Mew, who is a Digital Engagement Officer at Mermaids, shared that the book “is so important, having the perspective of a parent to a child questioning and transition is so necessary in today’s climate. At Mermaids, we can’t recommend it enough.”

The Smell of Betrayal reeks.

I don't know when THAT art was done, but it needs putting into this context. The idea that Mew didn't understand how that pic might backfire is bollocks. In more ways than one.

The tatty trainers aren't as sexy as Theresa May's leopard print heels though.

Can I make a plea to people to file formal complaints to the Charity Commission with any information they think the CC should know about? There’s so much in this thread and it needs to go through the proper channels.
