Long twitter thread here. She's had her electronic devices seized too, and has been accused of being certain posters on Kiwi Farms and Mumsnet

@BernardBlacksWineIceLolly and @BreakWindandFire sorry to tag you but she's been accused of being you!

We all know who this will be, but as Caroline says, please don't speculate/discuss them.

Thanks @Sonnex I always get Surrey and Sussex (and Suffolk) mixed up in my head, and, for some reason, Steve and Pete! It all seems a bit 'sus' to me.

I keep thinking, about all of this, that there must, there has to be, more to it than this! But no, there never is.

NecessaryScene · 04/10/2022 10:56

She seems much more Gender Traditionalist to me

Thanks, @donquixotedelamancha , I'd started writing something about that, feeling the need to preserve the meaning of terms, while wanting to stress that I wasn't in any way meaning to have any reservations about supporting her in this.

You did it better.

I wouldn't call CF gender critical. Not that it matters.

I expect there are many issues she and I disagree on.

However, like the majority of people, Caroline knows the earth is round and that humans are sexually dimorphic mammals who cannot change sex.

I think Caroline has been treated disgustingly. So often I read smug little posts on twitter, from women who clearly have been lucky enough not to have experienced trauma from male violence. They deride other women for being anonymous online, or accuse us all of being sock accounts. This, when the ideology they support is busy using the police to harass and intimidate women who are not anonymous.

RocketPanda · 04/10/2022 11:00

This is very sinister. Caroline is targeted because her beliefs on abortion and same sex parents won't garner sympathy from the public by the TRA Stasi. This is a warning shot, the public and the media is waking up to the reality of TWAW. The danger and discomfort it puts women and children in. They want to rule by fear, that one point of their finger and a problematic woman will be punished.

What highlights the insanity of this situation is that actual threats of violence against women, made by people who don't bother to hide who they are, which are not considered worthy of investigation.

Whatever you may think about Carolyn and her beliefs, the contrast with the acceptance of violence against women. Is stark.

Yep. Just seen this thread - twitter.com/VictoriaPeckham/status/1576891793760813058?s=20&t=_fJTc-_2zT3aeHL8ezRhCA

I wonder whether the Police will investigate these actual threats against women.

BirdinaHedge · 04/10/2022 11:02

Utterly terrifying.

And Ms Farrow, if you’re reading here, you have an army of women who will help you grow a massive garden, should you wish to take action against the police or the vexatious complaint/s.

I would probably disagree with most of your beliefs but what was done to you is really scary. It reads like the start of a police state.

And brought to mind Margaret Atwood’s comment that everything in The Handmaid’s Tale has actually happened.

GCAcademic · 04/10/2022 11:04

Threatening to section her too.
Who threatened to section her? Sounds trumped up to me.

Ah, women. If they're not mad, they're liars.

So what. She expresses an opinion, and tries to persuade other people to adopt or maintain that opinion as well. If you don’t agree with that opinion, you can argue against it . That’s civilised debate, a feature of western democracy. ( or used to be)

It’s very dangerous to say that because you personally disagree with her opinions, it is correct that the State should suppress them, and harass her. Dangerous to your right to express your opinions freely and without fear.

Indeed, as awful as this incident is though the more this happens and the more light is shone on it the better though imo and the faster all this madness will stop

Again - who threatened to section her? I have searched for this info, & can't find it, so responding like a sulky teen isn't helping anyone @GCAcademic

Yeah, that's how I feel. I have no issue with being willing to work with traditionalists and right wingers. This issue is a threat to many groups and factionalism is childish.

That said feminism (which is really all GC Feminism is) has a meaning and a purpose. I don't want to help the Vichy Feminist loons define feminism out of existence.

Quitelikeit · 04/10/2022 11:18

If the lady who was arrested campaigns against certain sexual orientations/same sex relationships surely that counts as being hostile towards those particular groups?

"As I was released the sarge asked me if I had thoughts of self harm. I replied I did. He then said he would send me back to the cells to think about my answer and that he would section me. I had to clarify that I wouldn’t actually do anything but that I am extremely distressed.— Caroline Farrow (@CF_Farrow) October 4, 2022"

Quitelikeit · 04/10/2022 11:19

Kettrick

it’s on the Twitter feed that is linked at the beginning of the post

Supersimkin2 · 04/10/2022 11:20

Horrifying. MRA must be thrilled.

KettrickenSmiled · 04/10/2022 11:20

Thanks @AryaStarkWolf

So ... not "threatened with being sectioned" at all then.
In fact - advised to come up with a more sensible answer, to avoid the possibility.

RoyalCorgi · 04/10/2022 11:22

Maybe not. I was using it as a shorthand - she is critical of gender ideology, as most of us are. But not for the same reasons, perhaps.

You surely can't be that stupid? It was a threat to section her if she didn't say she was okay.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 04/10/2022 11:23

Threatening to section her too
Reading the tweet, she says that she said yes to have you had thoughts of self harm.
So it kind of makes sense that the police would be concerned that she was a danger to herself.
This seems to have been escalated on here to "threatened with" -seems a bit of an emotive twist for dramatics.

What kind of topsy turvy world is it where 'he said...he would section me' does not mean that he said he would section me. Confused

donquixotedelamancha · 04/10/2022 11:24

You can be hostile to whatever the fuck you want in the UK and long may that remain the case.

The moment we let the police arrest people for saying things we don't like you can guarantee it will be used to oppress the most vulnerable and reinforce those in power.

Ah yes, silly women being overemotional and overdramatic again.

JFC, a woman has been arrested and taken to the police station for some tweets that probably didn't even write, and the best you can do is accuse us of being overdramatic?

ImherewithBoudica · 04/10/2022 11:25

Anyone still doubting that supporters of this ideology believe that anyone guilty of wrongthink and having views they don't like deserve all they get and can be freely illtreated for being subhuman, just check this thread. Here it is, front and centre.

Supersimkin2 · 04/10/2022 11:25

Some men don’t like civilised discussion, do they. Poor girl.

Can’t help hoping the police would arrest a racist if they were worried about hate speech. But…
