Long twitter thread here. She's had her electronic devices seized too, and has been accused of being certain posters on Kiwi Farms and Mumsnet

@BernardBlacksWineIceLolly and @BreakWindandFire sorry to tag you but she's been accused of being you!

We all know who this will be, but as Caroline says, please don't speculate/discuss them.

AND dislike the fact that MN is on the warpath for a privileged woman without single other comment about wrongful arrest & power-abusing harassment frequently happening to less well-off women

And it's possible to be REALLY pissed-off with your Whataboutery @KettrickenSmiled

Yes, we all know that working-class and BAME women are unequally held and abused by the police & other security bodies. It's been discussed here for years. But maybe you're a very new poster to FWR?

It was women (and I expect MN women among them!) who started the organisation "Keep Prisons Single Sex" and it's feminists such as Prof. Jo Phoenix who research & advocate on behalf of women inmates.

But THIS thread is about the abuse of police power and the harassment of a couple of Males' Rights Activists in the case of Ms Caroline Farrow,

Start another thread about the more general excessive punishment of women by the law enforcement bodies in this country. You'll get a LOT of support here on MN. But don't berate us for being mostly concerned with the specific & particular events of Ms Farrow's "arrest" on Monday night.

If anything can be 'hate speech' because a vexatious litigant decides it's hate speech

There's only one special group that gets this protection.

IcakethereforeIam · 05/10/2022 09:24

In the background of the doctored image there seems to be a tw in a bobble hat, I think a pp mentioned an individual who dresses like that.

The last sentence of the DM article! Has a complain also been made to the Parish about the Councillor? I didn't see anything else about that in the piece.

BirdinaHedge · 05/10/2022 09:39

It's not as simple as "Oh I just don't want gay people to marry" she's be quite happy if gay people just didn't exist at all.

So it's OK for her to be arrested for posting something totally unrelated to her opinions about gay people on Twitter? Better watch out @XSnoe - the Thought POlice are notorious for turning on their own.

ScreamingMeMe · 05/10/2022 09:43

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 05/10/2022 09:19

And numerous other people, too. At the very least this should raise questions about people who use the law to relentlessly harangue, socially ostracize and professionally ruin anyone who dares make a public statement they don't happen to like. There are a couple who spring to mind, but the TRA who's harassing Yalland, Caroline and others is notorious - yet still being taken seriously by police.

If anything can be 'hate speech' because a vexatious litigant decides it's hate speech, and has the means and wherewithall to pursue it through the legal system, then it's not only people with conservative Catholic views who have a massive fucking problem. It's every single one of us. Unless you fancy winning a victory over yourself, and loving Big Brother.

Don't this particular vexatious litigant's claims all have to go through the same judge now, because they are so prolific?

If there is any whiff of 'it's OK to do it to this person, they're fair game', that person gets a target painted on them

Yes @BernardBlacksWineIcelolly it's all a bit "Do it to Julia" for some people around here, isn't it?

I hope you're recovered from being transplanted into someone else's body without your knowledge.

Name change.

For the last time - no. I do not believe that, hence why I've never said it.

The intention was never "she's homophobic therefore deserves it". I'm sure plenty of people would say I'm "transphobic", that doesn't mean I deserve to be treated as Caroline has. I'm certainly not "The Thought Police" considering I've been banned from Twitter for stating simple things about sex/gender. I'm certainly lucky to have not had the experience Caroline and others have had... Yet.

HatThatWearsYou · 05/10/2022 09:53

I'm sorry this is my last derail.

@stillvicarinatutu I opened an AIBU thread to gauge other women's opinions over whether they would have waved the officers in the car down, early days but interestingly the majority voted that no they wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. I wonder if they are paranoid coz the police in their approximate vicinity make them feel a bit funny too Hmm

Snoe2 · 05/10/2022 09:55

If I thought she deserved this treatment, I'd have no qualms about just saying that. I'm sorry for derailing the thread yesterday.

Sonnex · 05/10/2022 09:55

I'm stil confused about what should have happened, legally (for if / when it happens to me!)

At ewe saying it was legal for them to force their way in and was legal for them to seize devices but you should wait for a court order or warrant before handing over the passwords?

KittenKong · 05/10/2022 09:56

I’m sure there is a crib sheet. I didn’t think you had to let them in.

A bit like vampires - they can’t come in (without a warrant) unless you invite them.

Dreikanter · 05/10/2022 09:58

Yes, for High Court civil actions.

I’m sure they’ll be aware of all this going off.

ScreamingMeMe · 05/10/2022 09:58

That officer clearly pushed their way in though. I think if you have a chain on your door, do not take it off!

I have a bar. Haha try getting through that!

Pixiedust1234 · 05/10/2022 10:10

Its starting isn't it? Its not just women now but a young man talking outside a political conference (I assume due to the large police presence).

Why were there 3 other police officers watching the first officer telling off the man? Were they all going to rugby tackle him to the ground if he repeated the naughty word?

And what does a blue jacket signify? I see him wearing the proper police helmet so he's not security.

So you just wanted to tell the thread about your dislike of Caroline Farrow?

Very constructive 👍

knittingaddict · 05/10/2022 10:17

HatThatWearsYou I just wanted to say that I fully support your posts and that stillvicarinatutu has been totally out of order on this thread. At best incredibly naive, possibly a bit gaslighty.

I had an incident with the police a few years ago, which I immediately started a thread about on here. It was probably more than 10 years ago and under my previous username. I too am a middle aged, middle class white woman and the police officer changed my attitude to the police in a matter of 30 seconds. He was in his patrol car, on duty and decided to have a power trip to boost his fragile ego. I had done nothing wrong. He was the very stereotype of an abusive, misogynistic man.

What you describe was worse and I don't see how anyone would try to explain away what those police officers were doing to you. They were clearly trying to intimidate you and get their jollies. No one should tell you that what you saw wasn't what actually happened. It's disgraceful.

BenCoopersSupportWren · 05/10/2022 10:18

IANAL so I may be completely incorrect here, but is the position that police need a warrant to enter and search premises if there is a possibility or likelihood of no arrest being made at the premises during the search, but that they don’t need a warrant if the intention of the visit is to arrest a person at the premises? I.e. in the first it’s the property that’s of interest, in the second it’s a specific person?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/10/2022 10:20

Mr Willgoss, a parish councillor for Surrey Heath who also works in garden maintenance, said the officers told him he may have committed a public order offence and should attend an interview to explain his actions. He said he was told if he did not attend he may be arrested over the image.

what was the image? A picture of 2 trans rights activists holding signs that had previously said ‘trans rights are human rights’ but had been photoshopped to say ‘terfs were right all along’ and ‘trans rights are very, very boring’

some people will always make vexatious complaints. Humans are complicated and weird

getting caught up in that shows shit judgement on the part of Surrey Police and a distinct lack of understanding of what’s important to the public. The police do after all police by public consent.

Wow. This is ridiculous and could be any one of us.

And I have apologised. 🤷🏼‍♀️

TastefulRainbowUnicorn · 05/10/2022 10:25

So I don’t know if I can link to it but according to [the usual suspect] three different forces have been investigating the same image posted on Kiwi Farms for months? At his instigation obviously. I think it’s the same image that they interrogated Caroline about but it’s all terribly murky.

After learning this I read the comment about the cops not sending out someone for a burglary in progress with kids in the house and I honestly can’t process it all. I think I’m a hairs’ breadth from throwing a tantrum. How is this being allowed to happen?

HatThatWearsYou · 05/10/2022 10:32

I know this is ridiculous because I can't actually do this as I'm sure most of us can't, but it sort of makes me feel a little rebellious like maybe there should be a suffragette style movement where something totally innocuous gets a large group of women arrested at the same time.

This is a terrible idea and I am certainly not inciting anyone to do anything unlawful or likely to cause them to be arrested even on spurious claims. I'm just feeling a bit... I don't even know what the word is, overtired and silly probably.

HatThatWearsYou · 05/10/2022 10:34

I hope no one takes that seriously btw, I really was just being utterly silly because the world has gone mad and I feel that if I don't poke a bit of fun and laugh I'll go totally daft.

I'll stick the kettle on, I'm expecting Surry police at my door any minute Wink

BitossiBlues · 05/10/2022 10:35

@stillvicarinatutu Go to Glinner's sub stack from yesterday and you will find the details on his post about Surrey Police

Tallisker · 05/10/2022 10:59

Oh no that bobble hat photo 🤮 Stop making me think horrible things 😄
