Long twitter thread here. She's had her electronic devices seized too, and has been accused of being certain posters on Kiwi Farms and Mumsnet

@BernardBlacksWineIceLolly and @BreakWindandFire sorry to tag you but she's been accused of being you!

We all know who this will be, but as Caroline says, please don't speculate/discuss them.

Apologies...i may have had a drink

Bar tender may have been slightly over generous with the alcohol

Lovelyricepudding · 04/10/2022 23:16

Not RTFT but has anyone discussed the implication's of the ruling by ECHR in Pal v UK?

This covers the arrest itself. The arrest of a journalist on a charge of harassing another journalist had been undertaken without any assessment of the criteria relevant to the balancing of the arrested journalist''s right to freedom of expression against another journalists right to respect for his private life.

Pal was awarded damages for the arrest.

In vino veritas

You don’t need to apologise.

for anyone who doesn't know "swatting" is where someone makes a fraudulent call to the police claiming there's an active shooter at an address they've doxxed in the hopes the police will overreact and shoot someone).

so what complainant x has just done to Caroline, only thankfully our police don’t routinely have guns?

although we do have some armed units, as the owner of this very site will attest:

The owner of KiwiFarms is pretty nice about Justine and Caroline by the way, so the likelihood of Caroline and Justine’s police harassment originating from Kiwi Farms is very small. It must originate from somewhere, any suggestions?

KF is just a gossip site with more or less free speech rules (nothing criminal, obvs,, because that’s not covered by free speech. That includes swatting/using the police to harass others)

CentaureaCyanus · 04/10/2022 23:32

Right. That's it. I was going to go and read some lovely, lovely Marple, but I'm going to have to go and read Kiwi Farms instead just to see what all the ruddy fuss is about Hmm

TheClogLady · 04/10/2022 23:35

The Streisand Effect strikes again.

Of course it altered it, as another PP pointed out.

Talking of whataboutery & lying - tell us again how disliking one woman's homophobia & anti-abortion stance equals misogyny? You've created a straw man out of nothing, because you think everybody should be "supporting" Farrow, & that not to do so is somehow being against all women.

I don't think it needs said out loud but just in case, I hate homophobia, I'd disagree strongly with CF on a lot of (most?) things I'm sure.

But actually, yes we should be supporting her here.

If we don't, to me it would seem to be harmful to women in general yes.
This is a concern for every woman, regardless of beliefs and views.
Any of us, no matter our personal status could be arrested and treated like CF purely on someone else;s say so, for something someone else has said.
That's sheer insanity and extremely, extremely frightening.

Also if it is like you say that the working class women in general have no platform, privilege or voice and no one to stand up and speak on their behalf here on MN for example and there weren't any instances of situations like this where CF as a vocal middle class women uses her platform to point out the injustice she faced for being a woman (coz lets not get confused here, this is about her status as a woman and not for her absolutely dislikeable views on other things), women collectively would be silenced across the classes then wouldn't they?

No one would ever hear of stuff like this happening. The world at large would be unaware. So what good does that do anyone? None whatsoever.

The police are particularly scary these days.
I took the dog out for a last toilet walk up my street not too long ago and was driven by five times by a police car. The last two drive bys were done at increasingly slow crawl which I found intimidating and unnecessary. They must have been able to see I am a woman (cunty type) and if they thought I was suspicious for some reason, why wouldn't they stop and talk to me? Nope just a repeated, slow crawl by.

This is just another reminder, as if we needed one, that we now officially live in a dystopian feminist horror novel made reality.

stillvicarinatutu · 05/10/2022 02:08

Hatthatwesrsyou

What makes you think police were looking at you specifically?

On mobile patrol at night the job is patrol- cruise around looking for anything out the ordinary because that's when burglars work , car thieves work , etc . They won't have been looking at you! There may have been some Intel suggesting your neighbourhood was subject to car crime or burglary.
The paranoia is alarming. They won't have been remotely interested in you or your dog .

stillvicarinatutu · 05/10/2022 02:14

And I've no idea what this thread is about . Clueless. Asked for pms . Because I'm not in the know. And if I as a female police officer is clueless then I'm betting the majority of my colleagues are also clueless.

I'm getting Surrey police have arrested someone for wrong think or something. ?
Ridiculous if so . It appears from what I've read that the police are being used to hound women who say women are women and men are men ?
That's a fact isn't it ? What's this complainant actually alleged ?

I get why there is mistrust of police in the fwr board if this is how the police are being used .

But I do t know what's happening. (I work in a sleepy little hollow that's never had stonewall training, we are t on their accredited list of trainees, we do t have stupid rainbow lanyards or cars emblazoned with that shit - were lucky if we have diesel actually. Or cars .

I'm so out of the loop .

Hey I'm missing fucking everything apparently! Please someone fill me in ? I'll fire
Up
The Laptop specifically.

stillvicarinatutu · 05/10/2022 02:28

I have the definition of mal comms pinned to my desktop.

It's always bandied about but to complete the offence requires specific criteria that's hardly ever actually happened.

Sec 127 is a very specific offence that I use only to stop nuisance callers to our control room .

Someone is clutching at straws if this is being rolled out .

Mal
Comms has a specific definition i law .

Anything else (if you're just pissed off or offended ) is civil law . Defamation of character or slander is civil. Go
Sue .

Police should deal with CRIMINAL offences. The definition of mal
Comms is very specific. It wasn't even crime
Recordable until recently.

Pm me please - I'll charge the laptop and log in from there if I can ever remember my password.

stillvicarinatutu · 05/10/2022 02:32

You know what ....
I'm thinking I should have become a lawyer rather than a cop.

I know of a few lawyers that were cops .....

I think I'd have been better at being a solicitor than a cop
Sometimes.

I walk my German Shepard at this time most nights . It's now 2.30am . If police pass me I wave . Granted I am one but still.....

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 05/10/2022 02:33

See, I just can't get this viewpoint, and I've tried .
We should support all women, regardless of their views?
If they're at home, cooking a roast chicken, tending to the kids (as alluded to in the emotive tweets) it doesn't matter what they' might be sending, or what they're saying, they're a woman so we must always be supportive, no matter what?
No.

stillvicarinatutu · 05/10/2022 02:35

Is it not reassuring to have cops patrolling at night round the neighbourhood?

Genuinely asking.

ToGanymedeAndTitan · 05/10/2022 02:40

@stillvicarinatutu

Yes it is, saw a couple round ours last week and they said "evening" as I passed
So I naturally said it back.
It was kind of comforting knowing they're out there making sure properties weren't being broken into, and if they were they were about to deter those who would if it was unpatrolled
