We’ve been talking about the Brighton SFW event for days now - over at least three threads.
The resultant purity spiral (and the rejection of it) has distracted us from what should’ve been the focal point of the day.
The women who stood up in front of a hostile crowd and gave accounts of their own experiences
This thread is an attempt at a rebalance.
The speeches are at times, difficult to hear due to background noise so if anyone has additional resources (transcripts or footage of the same speeches from other videos or events) please add them.
Please be mindful and only share what’s definitely in the public domain, so if you are copying over from social media sites check it’s not from a closed Facebook account/a private FB group/a locked Twitter before going so.
From Standing For Women’s own broadcasts:
Part one:
Part two:
Maria MacLachlan’s post event recap (includes Maria’s speech from the day itself)
The Famous Artist Birdy Rose’s recap (Birdy attended but wasn’t a speaker)
Feel free to also add relevant tweets or articles about the event, as long as they focus on the speakers and their words, rather than personal or political criticisms of the organiser. Freedom of speech is a good thing but in the interests of keeping things tidy please contribute to that topic in one of the following threads, or start a new one!
