Cameron sounds absolutely charming. I wonder if the SNP will do anything?

We keep voting as there is pretty much a 50/50 split on independence and SNP have been the route to that. However, myself, my husband, my mother in law, and a few others I know personally have stopped our membership over this issue. I plan to spoil my ballot with 'Respect my Sex if you want my X'

I honestly think SNP are going to throw independence for this issue. Which is mad.

I've thought this for years.

I don't know what they're thinking.

But somehow I doubt NS will be giving a broom cupboard apology to the women affected by this eejit's tweets.

'judge us on our record' - Nicola Sturgeon

I responded to this thread to clarify the mistaken points which were being made around this situation. It is interesting, however, that there have been so many attacks on what I think is a reasonable point of view.

Attacks? And so many?

Do you mean on you? If so, you mustn’t have ever ventured on to AIBU .

I can see you find this person’s tweets appalling. So I assume we are able to continue to point out that in any position affiliated with the SNP, no body should have a history with those sorts of tweets.

Plus this is the feminist board, and particularly the one sectioned off for discussions about sex and gender. Of course our discussion will be dissecting this person and the SNPs poor history in regards to that. So it is valid to ask posters questions relating to the board topic.

Why did you dismiss those as ‘highly questionable’ ? They were relevant to the party and the statements made by members or actions proposed or taken by government.

Or do you agree that any government supporting these points would indeed be questionable, regardless of how long you have been involved and a member?

Very very nasty individual.

I do wonder what they're teaching young people at university these days.

Wonder no longer - they teach gender ideology. That gender blasphemers must be burnt at the stake. That no one must challenge this ideology or exhibit critical thought. Challenge is unsafe and causes literal genocide.

I’ve been wondering this for many years now.

Sooverthisnow · 30/09/2022 19:58

SNP members are not allowed to question the leadership. If non-members question the leadership, the members accuse you of attacking them/the party and it shuts down debate.

Why does Scotland keep voting for the SNP? Do women even have rights there?

I usually vote SNP. I want independence. But in the last election, for the first time ever I spoiled my vote and wrote "woman = adult human female" across it.

I have to say, then hell mend you. Separatism is blind , senseless ideology.

Boomboom22 · 10/10/2022 19:23

Honeysuckle please please look into this more closely. As an SNP voter how can you look at what NS says and think this is in any way a moderate party? Look at all the laws passed towards self id and NS ignores the facts. She is so ideologically blinded she won't see reason.
If it really is the case the majority of members care about women why on earth do they vote snp?

same, but you won't get much nuance on here about independence, unfortunately
