Article in the Times Scotland section. I know it's not a parody but it reads in part like one:

I've been wondering about "Dr" T as well. I've seen people giving themselves Dr titles before during, like, homeopathy or creationism discussions, to indicate how much they think they know about the science involved, maybe Dr T is trying to portrait himself as an expert in genderism.

I wonder why they don’t make a video saying the Earth is flat as it would be just a scientific all that dinosaurs are still around in Edinburgh. These plonkers believe anything themselves and want to miseducate our children. Of course it is fashionable for kids these days to believe this sort of garbage as of course they will believe anything as they have always done. I don’t know whether it is possible to sue the school for propagating unscientific misinformation.

Hoardasurass · 23/09/2022 06:45

So it seems that Queen Anne is using the Scottish government's trans guidelines which were proven in court to be illegal.
Someone should probably tell them

pepperminttaste · 23/09/2022 06:46

Jesus. Thankfully not the school my girls will go to. I'd literally move house if it was*. Genuinely worried for my eldest who is very gnc but very, very happy in her own skin.

*I'm in Scotland so my local school may well be as bad.

PriOn1 · 23/09/2022 07:10

Even though it was written by someone fully on board, they still don’t manage to make it sound like a situation which will provide the pupils with appropriate boundaries and stability. I presume children with difficult backgrounds would be more prone to being drawn in. Those are children who genuinely need that stability at school that they are failing to get at home. This idea that you can pick and choose an identity and change it on a whim, and everyone else must go along with it is literally the opposite of providing stability based upon demonstrable reality. They are doing so much damage it’s unreal.

Cillery · 23/09/2022 07:14

Tomorrow I’m gonna be a 6’8” Scotsman. That’ll show ‘em! 😀

donquixotedelamancha · 23/09/2022 07:16

It's just written so fawningly (is that a word?) there isn't a hint of critical assessment by the writer.

I got the impression it was letting them be hoist by their own petard. As you said, the combo of quotes and pictures makes it seem like a parody.

rogdmum · 23/09/2022 07:20

The video is on the school’s website here: www.qahs.org.uk/Supporting-Transgender-Pupils-Pupil-Equalities-Fil/

At 19.45 the guidance teacher openly states that “in many cases” the parents are not aware of the child’s trans identity. The school supports social transitions regardless.

There is a parade of teachers on the video. It’s exactly like my daughter’s former school. Any parent who wants to be more cautious won’t stand a chance there. Awful. Simply awful.

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/09/2022 07:26

No good can come of schools creating needy children. It is not the job of anyone to validate identities. Thats not what children go to school for and it's not what adults go to work for.

School should be helping prepare children for their entry into the big wide world. Encouraging self sufficiency and independence. Instead they are creating and fulfilling needy individuals who won't last 5 mins outside their protective little bubbles.

That article has to be written that way on purpose. Giving them all enoughrope to hang themselves. If not ,there's no hope

FemaleAndLearning · 23/09/2022 07:27

I can't access the school's website Google says it's not secure.

1994girl · 23/09/2022 07:29

It's ridiculous this generation, they are sheep. There are 2 genders only. Pathetic

sashagabadon · 23/09/2022 07:39

I think ofsted probably need to pay a visit! And the teachers can explain to ofsted and the parents exactly what they are doing in these clubs.

horseymum · 23/09/2022 07:42

This is not far from me, I'm shocked to be honest. I think Kirkcaldy High is bad too. It is quite possible Dr T has a PhD, a few science teachers at our school do too.
@rogdmum, what did you ask in your FOI, I want to ask our council some details but not sure of wording. Can you suggest some specific questions?

Shortpoet · 23/09/2022 07:47

That LGBT club popularity reminds me of this cartoon by Tatsuya Ishida.

It’s being taken out of context by TRA to “prove” that even “cis people think they are boring” (sorry for the use of the c word there just need it in for context).

However, to state the bleeding obvious, it is a commentary on social contagion. Chloe Cole in her speech describes going from gawky teenager to feeling like a celebrity.

For the teachers to think that transing more and more pupils is a good thing is shocking. I’m not saying there shouldn’t be support for students. But it sounds like this club is creating FOMO across the school. After all who wants to be dull and ordinary when you could be getting individual attention as one pupil in that article says by tweaking your pronouns.

RedToothBrush · 23/09/2022 07:48

Lynx has had every tweak if their gender identity pandered to by the teachers.

This won't change the way in which Lynx has children, cos biology is a bastard. Nor will it change whether they learn more or less in the workplace. Nor will it change how likely they are to die from domestic violence. Nor will it change how tall they grow.

I can't help but think it's just creates entitled adults with no concept of reality. That's not preparation for the real world.

Lynx should remain the name of a brand of deodorant.

The fact they have so many kids at that school, is concerning. The fact that the only consideration is given to the feelings of the trans kids is concerning. The fact that there is fuck all safeguarding going on is concerning. The fact that girls boundaries are actively not taught is concerning.

Nothing here is right.

WTF - my DC are at the school and it is that mad!

I struggle to know who they are talking about as I can't mention previous names!

I’m curious - are you happy for your children to attend this school? Because it sounds as if the teachers have no capacity for critical thinking and as if the pupils are being brainwashed into thinking that fantasy is fact.

rogdmum · 23/09/2022 07:54

horsey Kirkcaldy High is bad! The council actually sent me their completed application form for the LGBTYS award scheme! Plus printouts from various assemblies. There was so much they had to post it to me because they couldn’t work out how to email such a big file. I think I tweeted some of them at one point, will need to look.

I’ll go find my FOI. I did a variation of the FOI questions Sex Matters suggested way back for Stonewall champions.

RedToothBrush · 23/09/2022 07:55

Rachel Watson said she first became aware her 14-year-old was non-binary when the child started wearing their younger brother’s clothes four years ago. When her child declared “I want to be boy” she urged them to do some research and they then said they were “gender fluid”.

Watson said: “I suspected they were more non-binary, neither gender rather than switching between the two. I said, ‘I have tried to raise you to know that you are not limited by society’s expectations of how a gender should perform such as boys don’t cry or girls can’t drive’.”

My child is non binary because they don't want to have to deal with sexism and sexist stereotypes. Except the way you dress and your pronouns are not a magic cloak to sexism cos everyone can still tell your sex. And in fact you are perpetuating the stereotypes by being non binary rather than challenging the stereotypes. Saying you are non binary says that girls do this and boys do that, I don't conform to those stereotypes but I'm doing fuck all about them.

Its avoidant behaviour. That's not healthy. It teaches you fuck all, and puts responsibility on everyone else around you. Which doesn't work in the wider world.

We should teach kids responsibility and to be able to live independently not be pandered to ideologically.

The whole logic is so fucked in the head and sells women and girls down river which ever path they take.

rogdmum · 23/09/2022 07:57

RedTooth watch the video. It starts with an interview of that mum and she practically admits she was the one who planted that seed in her child’s mind.

PhD? You mean he’s an educated idiot? Social science departments are full of them. Ordinary people are too smart to be taken in with the stupidity that the so-called ‘intelligentsia’ latch on to.

Yes, and isn't she delighted with how it turned out?

By coincidence, I've just been reading an old thread in which Germaine Greer was criticised for using "it" to refer to someone. www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4430375-germaine-greer-in-1989-sex-change-is-a-lie

@TheBiologyStupid I did and thought exactly the same! Had just read that before this- and thought how ironic.
