Hope he sues using Forstater ruling

sweetgrapes · 08/09/2022 06:57

Good explanations too. They could have made it a little clearer that transwomen are male though. There may still be people who don't know that.

rabbitwoman · 08/09/2022 07:00

It is a very surprising strategy for spitfire to take, and I wonder who has advised them that it was a good idea?

Just goes to show that, although we here at mumsnet are well aware of what is going on, in the wider world people just aren't aware of the harms being done in the name of this ideology and the way people are being silenced.

Do you think the spitfire CEO had heard of Forstater and Bailey before he tweeted out? Do you think he has now?

He has now, as JK pointed him in that direction!

Gosh she is so good at short pithy statements isn’t she!

AnuSTart · 08/09/2022 07:10

Damn I can't wait for this to go to court.
Fascist idiots.

I support Christian!

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 07:34

Poor Christian. He's a bloody founder of the company too.

It's socially unacceptable to state biological truth and/or speak out against medical experiments being conducted on children. How the fuck did this happen?

SquirrelSoShiny · 08/09/2022 07:40

I hope there is a massive grovelling climbdown and public apology.

Handsoffmyrights · 08/09/2022 07:44

Yuk. That apology is pathetic. I need a shower after that.

Fully support Christian.

MrsJamin · 08/09/2022 07:47

Poor guy, standing up for children not to be damaged and he gets this. Hope the CEO gets his day in court.

It's not just Glinner, that's how it was reported in the media.

JacquelinePot · 08/09/2022 08:16

I imagine this is going to go really well for Spitfire

Buffypaws · 08/09/2022 08:18

spitfire was doubling down last I saw.
probably making it harder to row back when they find out the truth.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 08/09/2022 08:22

Fired for expressing a perfectly legal opinion

it’s an interesting approach

It's not just Glinner, that's how it was reported in the media.

As far as I've seen, the media reports it as '1000 expected' - which is in line with the estimate from the lawyers. I've not seen the video so I don't know what that says. So, not 'misinformation'.

Sorry can't work out how to do share token for original report on that

Getting the facts straight is important

Something the TRAs would do well to remember re JKR

ErrolTheDragon · 08/09/2022 08:31

I mean not misinformation in the media... don't know about the video.

TheBiologyStupid · 08/09/2022 08:40

Good to see it being reported in The Times, but is the final paragraph wrong? I don't recall Allison Bailey claiming that the cotton ceiling was mentioned at a Garden Court event.

Graham said again that 1000 families are suing Tavistock on last night's TMWI.

That was the number widely reported in the media.

I'm also irritated by people stating "1000 families are suing the Tavistock". It's simply not true. Spreading misinformation of things that people want to be true but aren't (see truthiness) introduces weaknesses into the gender critical cause. That's supposed to be the domain of trans activists.

TheKeatingFive · 08/09/2022 09:01

1000 families could potentially sue Tavistock because that is how many people used the service, you could equally say 1 million families sue the NHS everyday.

No. This says 20,000.

Getting facts straight is important, right?

The law firm have clarified that the suit would go beyond just those who have used endocrinology services.

Agreed, but it's how the story was reported in the media, e.g.:
web.archive.org/web/20220827022729/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11101661/Tavistock-transgender-clinic-facing-mass-legal-action-1-000-families.html

The "up to1,000" figure seems to come from the law firm Pogust Goodhead, which specialises in class actions. Of course, they have a vested interest in making the estimate high - but I believe around 19,000 families got treatment via the Tavistock over the years so maybe the roughly 5% is in line with the firm's experience of similar group claims?
