The fallout from this tweet last night was a sight to behold.

That’s what I mean Grin

Oh, right! 😆

FernPotts · 13/09/2022 12:25

It is indeed.
By 'Rowling’s consciously provocative denunciation of trans women' and her 'anti-trans diatribe', it means... what, exactly? Sympathy, plus a view that sex matters to quite a lot of women?

BorkledDrek · 13/09/2022 13:46

Now I've finished The Ink Black Heart I'm re-listening to all the Robin and Strike books in order. I'd forgotten that there's a trans women character in The Silkworm, who is very sympathetically depicted.

But I suspect it would go against TRA principles to actually read what she has written about trans women 🙄

MythicalReasonableTwitterUser · 13/09/2022 14:00

PurgatoryOfPotholes:

I am nearly halfway through. I am absolutely certain I know who the killer is, this time. But am I being led up the garden path?

(Non-spoiler heads up...)
I really liked the bit where Robin and Strike thought they had one puzzle piece all figured out, so I thought they really did, but it turned out they'd overlooked a possibility that even I (or anyone who's spent a fair amount of time on social media) should have thought of...

My thoughts too. So strange to read reason and unreason so juxtaposed

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 12/09/2022 15:17

Not telling. 😉

During my daily sojourn in a book-free location (known as the 'workplace') I was forced to muse on past chapters instead of rushing ahead. (I was truly worth my wage today, wasn't I? Grin)

I am now convinced my first guess was wrong. But I am absolutely certain I know who it is now, and JKR's been fiendishly clever. Now to discover how Robin and Strike work it out!

NitroNine · 13/09/2022 21:07

Oh can those utter shitehawks not give my reporting fingers a wee rest for a moment?

Not that I don’t delight in [contributing to] having people suspended/banned when they’re attacking women/engaging in sectarianism/being racist/posting porn at people (NB not saying all these relate to TRAs’ Twitter activity; rather that I have had to report Users for them in the last couple of days) but it’s genuinely exhausting because the stuff is just endless.

picklemewalnuts · 13/09/2022 21:27

Returning briefly to the idea JKR is on here...

I can't imagine her reading passively, which means... she's one of us! She's a name we'd recognise I reckon. One of those posters we admire and nod sagely about as we read their posts.

<happy sigh>

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 13/09/2022 21:46

She's here. JK understands social media in and out, and she put MN in-jokes in the last one. I think she's on the Relationships board, if she posts anywhere.

But she might have enough self-control not to post.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 13/09/2022 22:36

I think this. That or she's Datun. I would love it if she was @datun.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/09/2022 23:18

Yes, she kept her GC powder dry on Twitter for quite a long time.

Strewth if I was J. K. Rowling, I wouldn't have time to write any books, given how much time I spend on here with all you vipers 😁

That's exactly what JKR would say to throw us off the scent...!

BreastedBoobilyToTheStairs · 14/09/2022 01:21

I have often wondered if she is one of the gone-but-not-forgotten posters from days of FWR past. I like to think she vented her GC beliefs here in order to stop herself doing it on Twitter, but then she lost her outlet due to a ban, so to Twitter she went.

Can anyone remember if any particularly eloquent and vocal posters were lost around the same time as the 'wumben' tweet? Grin

NitroNine · 14/09/2022 01:43

RedToothBrush · 07/09/2022 18:51

I believe she does too.

Just a feeling.

You, @RedToothBrush, are Joanne Rowling, & I claim my five galleons!
<strikes suitably dramatic attitude>
(Not a ballet attitude, obviously. That would just be silly 🤷‍♀️)

When did we lose LangCleg?

Great new Strike book RedToothbrush. Really enjoyed it.

picklemewalnuts · 14/09/2022 07:34

Nah, we mustn't out her!

Far better to dream on with every great post we read!

And one day, the word may be released...

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 14/09/2022 10:31

You know, she might be a quiet lurker who was radicalised by mumsnet.

There's a lot of us. I keep my thoughts on here as I get tired of the Twitter one-bite pile on and the eloquence displayed by so many posters on here put most of the official media accounts to shame.

Although Buffypaws was posting on this thread or the previous one...!

TheBiologyStupid · 14/09/2022 11:40

D'oh! I meant the Mermaids/LGB Alliance tribunal threads.

Was it the real Buffypaws though, or someone else who had got hold of her log in details? 🤔

It would be the highest compliment to be secretly suspected of being JK Rowling on Mumsnet.

Yeah! I'm just throwing red herrings out. Obviously it's me, really!

Or perhaps we need a Spartacus moment ...

I'm JKR!
