Why was the thread deleted?

I thought the gender critical Vs transphobia thread was interesting. Why the deletion?

OP posts:

Someone said it was the 2nd thread…so maybe it was a thread about a thread

plus it was pretty goady

Hawkins001 · 25/08/2022 21:49

These days it seems it's hard to have a robust debate without buns flying and then thread pulled

The OP was goady but the last I looked the responses were pretty much.

Vipers "GC means you don't believe in pink/blue stereotypes but do believe in sex".
TRAs "MN is inherently transphobic. FACT".

I hate Americanisms but, go figure!

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 25/08/2022 22:11

Thats as far as i got as well with it moch

youre spot on with the responses 😀

dudsville · 25/08/2022 22:14

That's a shame. There needs to be space for discussion even when views aren't equally agreed upon. I read some of that thread. I like hearing other opinions even if i don't agree, it aids my understanding of another's view point.

Mochudubh · 25/08/2022 22:21

@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer

It's just so frustrating that good faith attempts at reasoned debate are shut down. Presumably because, (I hadn't checked the thread for an hour or so), because someone posted something in bad faith deliberately to get the thread taken down.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/08/2022 22:24

The quality of trolling hasn't exactly been tip top recently. Maybe the school holiday effect.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 25/08/2022 22:25

I didn’t see it at the end but may well have had the shit reported out of is for various resaons

one of which is probably because GC means transphobic is a very useful stick to beat FWR with, the last thing they want is a whole lot of reasonable posters explaining exactly what GC means

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 25/08/2022 22:25

Out of it… 🤨

DuckDuckNo · 26/08/2022 17:25

The thread about a couple transitioning their small sons and then detransitioning them was also suddenly deleted. It was new, and didn't really have time to devolve into anything, so I have no idea why the sudden deletion. I guess the monitors are really busy these days.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/08/2022 17:29

The deletion message for that thread says feel free to discuss the article but stay within the guidelines. I wonder if it was the very frequent use of a word that rhymes with exult that led to the deletion. A plopper had just arrived, so it's clearly on the monitors' radar.

DuckDuckNo · 26/08/2022 17:35

The article itself uses the word that rhymes with exult though, so it's weird if it is out of bounds to use that word while discussing the article.

Discuss the article but don't use words in the article?

DuckDuckNo · 26/08/2022 17:39

(God, sometimes this 'typing around the word' bullshit feels like trying to dance a ballet in clown shoes)

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/08/2022 17:39

I thought that was a powerful thread - I'll repost the article as it's so important for parents on a parenting site to see. Uncomfortable yes, but poses some vital critical questions for parents to consider.

I don’t get it?

MorningPlatypus · 26/08/2022 17:45

I ducked out of Mumsnet for years and it's disappointing to see that we have to jump even more hoops to post the truth.

OP posts:
Helleofabore · 26/08/2022 17:47

Nope. That 'c' word cannot be used and generally gets deleted... unlike 'cunt'.

picklemewalnuts · 26/08/2022 17:50

It's that 'l', it's so offensive! Grin

Doyoumind · 26/08/2022 17:53

It was deleted for being goady / for trolling by a newcomer rather than what anyone posted. Bad faith posting also breaks the rules.

MorningPlatypus · 26/08/2022 17:53

There's a word that rhymes with lettuce that we also can't use.

OP posts:
Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 26/08/2022 18:04

Lettuce as said by Shir Sean Connery?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 26/08/2022 18:05

In the light of the deletion message, I started a new thread. It seems very important that parents should be allowed to read the experiences of this lesbian parent, even if we're not able to explore some of the related issues about the social transitioning of very young children.
