Tw react to only women being allowed in women’s rugby.

www.telegraph.co.uk/rugby-union/2022/08/24/trans-women-rugby-cleaned-5ft-4in-girls-how-can-dangerous/

As Helen Staniland comments underneath “This article will have helped thousands more people see the issue. Very glad ages and photos were included.”

OP posts:

I think their main thing is to try to systematically go through each of the sectors of society where we want to exist and kick us out.

This is quite telling. It's an admission that this person is not part of that sector. 'Wanting', or desire, or aspiration, has absolutely nothing to do with scientific classification.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2022 14:12

I mean, nobody can kick this person out of a sector that they cannot physically belong to. It's like trying to opt out of gravity.

bellinisurge · 25/08/2022 14:13

Love the sunlight this story sheds on it all

Just made me angry. Really angry. Fucking entitled bastards, all of them. Sod off. Play in the men's teams because you're a fucking man and the rest of them are fucking men. Men, I tell you. Those that are not women. 😡

This with bells on

picklemewalnuts · 25/08/2022 14:17

Equally, @ArabellaScott , no one can kick them out of the sector they belong to.

You can call me all sorts, but nothing you do or say can prevent me being a woman. I cannot be excluded from my sex category.

’How many 54 year old women can still play full contact team sports with opponents, in some cases, who are 30 years younger than them?’

That ^

there are probably a good number of 54 year olds who could mix it with the youngsters at a modest level. something that i should think would hold here in all cases without exception is that the '25 years earlier' version of these players would wipe the floor with 'modest' competition. that's the real reason for the trans ban, it's to stop rugby getting its own Hannah Mouncey, a very large prime aged she-male who's a very serious danger to female players.

Namechangedincaseshesonhere · 25/08/2022 14:25

Where are the comments? Am I being stupid or have they been removed?

Don't understand your comment.

Are you a transwoman?

Sonnex · 25/08/2022 14:55

Ended her career? She's fifty fucking four!!

SnowdropsInSpring · 25/08/2022 14:58

Where are the comments?

picklemewalnuts · 25/08/2022 15:13

@grey12 , did you see Arabella's comment? "I mean, nobody can kick this person out of a sector that they cannot physically belong to. It's like trying to opt out of gravity."

I was agreeing with Arabella that TWs can't be kicked out of the category
Woman, as they are not in it and never were.

Equally, as a woman I can't be kicked out of the category by anyone. If they were actually women, they couldn't be kicked out of the category.

Does that clarify? I'm not a transwoman, no matter how bad I look in some of the harshly lit nightclub mirrors!

picklemewalnuts · 25/08/2022 15:17

Comments seem to have gone now.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/08/2022 15:18

NOBODY says TW are "not woman enough". There isn't a scale of womanhood

Exactly. They're not women in any way, shape or form.

grey12 · 25/08/2022 15:19

@picklemewalnuts Got it 👍 sorry, I honestly didn't understand the comment. Haven't been sleeping very well.....

With your name it sounded like you might have wanted to "pickle your (male) nuts" 😅

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/08/2022 15:22

Comments seem to have gone now.

That's going to endear them to their readership even further. I'm sure they like being censored to promote a nonsense agenda every bit as much as the Times commenters do,

MrsOvertonsWindow · 25/08/2022 15:23

Oh look - they've removed the comments - 99.9% of which were critical of Fitzgerald's moaning about not being allowed to take a woman's place in women's rugby.

picklemewalnuts · 25/08/2022 15:25

FB comments still up, and uniform in their support of women's sport!

I remember reading a 40 something year old man on twitter about this recently.

Yes, he said, he could keep up enough to start with, on the first game. By about week 3 he was tired and not bouncing back, and then the injuries started. And he didn't bounce back from minor injuries. By about week 7, he was off for the rest of the season with a major injury.

The next season was even shorter for him.

This was a fit 40 something that had been playing regularly up to then but finding it harder each season.

SolasAnla · 25/08/2022 15:28

Some language reorganisation to recognise the editorial change in reporting language and content influences the readers perceptions :

... a former semi-professional player at the [ men’s ] male side Randburg Diggers in South Africa, Curtiss... as trans in 2016,...... only after Covid restrictions were lifted that she decided to return to rugby... joined Seaford RFC.... one particularly unsavoury experience stood out.

“One of the male coaches couldn’t get his head around the fact that I wasn’t as strong as I appeared to be,” she says. “He thought, ‘Oh this is going to be great, because I can have a trans [ female ] and male player and they’re [ single, sex known = male = he is ] going to boulder their [ single, sex known = male = his ] way through the female opposition.’ He kept going at me, ‘Why can’t you just run through these [ people ] female players ?’ I just wasn’t at that level , (early 50's and starting playing after a long break (pre2016? - 2021)), where I was significantly stronger than [ anyone else ] the (mainly younger) female players.”

I've said this on other occasions but if, for some reason, somebody asked me how to lower the T reading in a blood test, I'd advise:

  • fasting or very low calorie intake for a couple of days
  • short abstention from physical training.

If someone asked about a slightly low RBC count, I might wonder if they had over-hydrated before the test. I'm underwhelmed by individual physiological markers.

Helpful table here:
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK2263/table/ch1.T1/

I think a number of us would share Curtiss' outrage for secrecy (Hello Denton and Press for Change) although for different reasons.

“I find it extremely unlikely that the RFU wasn’t already having these deliberations. If they were having them, why did they choose not to engage? They seem to have done this entire thing secret-squirrel.”

She is particularly critical of the “thorough review of scientific evidence” that the RFU carried out as part of its “precautionary approach” to prioritise safety, and questions why it is not rugby-specific. She tried in vain to engage with the RFU ahead of the vote, urging the governing body to oversee clinical studies on trans female players over the upcoming season. But her proposal was met by a wall of silence which, she insists, is telling of a wider issue at play.
“I personally don’t think that the people who are running around and trying to influence various sports bodies have women’s sport at heart,” insists Curtiss. “I don’t think any of them are particularly interested in women’s sport, ultimately. I think their main thing is to try to systematically go through each of the sectors of society where we want to exist and kick us out.”

I couldn't agree more that, left to their own devices (Hello, British Cycling), there are several sectors of society and sports bodies that find the existence of women inconvenient and want to "kick us out".

If I was an actuarial Department Head for those Clubs I would be looking at the risk weighting and payout liability for someone who likely has anaemia and the associated risks of dizzy spells, fainting etc plus the likleyhood that the anaemia is as a result of poor bone health due to the side effects of a medication being used off lable.

Big Pharma pays way more insurance fees than Rugby Clubs so I know which client I would seek to retain long term.

Helleofabore · 25/08/2022 15:46

These males really have no self awareness at all.

Males in the 50s both and complaining about how they are weaker than the women they play with and against.... but simply cannot understand that the comparator is that they are unfairly advantaged because they should be comparing themselves against females their own age. Of which there are none.

For those who can't read The Telegraph, the trick is to open the article and allow it to load up to the point where the article is visible, but stop it (press the cross on the address bar) before it has time to hide most of the article under the offer to subscribe. It's a delicate art, and I ususally temporarily turn off my WiFi once I've got the article too, to make sure it doesn't reload the hidden version...

I am in awe of your internet talents. In awe I say!

Can you guess I've just read the article using your very handy tip!

Thank you for posting x

I wonder what the monitors see when they read threads like this?

Does it shake their confidence at all?

crispinglovershighkick · 25/08/2022 15:59

'The phone rang. It was a member from her rugby club who wanted to check in on her. “My wife, Anne, picked it up. I couldn’t take the call. It was the second worst day of my life,” she reflects.' So many supportive women in Alix's life.
