Do they they not know that she had a death threat made against her? I suppose they think only threats against male authors are important.

Picture is from the latest issue.

OP posts:

I disagree - they're making a point about the row, not here perfectly reasonable statement that expressed shock at his attack and didn't mention trans.

ditalini · 24/08/2022 12:07

her perfectly reasonable statement.

It's not JKR who made it all about trans.

Maireas · 24/08/2022 12:09

No, they're making quite the opposite point. No pop at JKR.

Antarcticant · 24/08/2022 12:10

I doubt they are intending it as a dig at JKR - they are usually on her side.

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 24/08/2022 12:11

I agree I didn’t read it as having a go at JKR.
PE have published some very spot on GC stuff in the past so I wouldn’t expect them to rush to criticise JKR in this regard.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 24/08/2022 12:12

I don’t think that is a pop at JKR.

I see it as a commentary of how absolutely everything is turned into a poor, marginalized trans people argument.

SausagePourHomme · 24/08/2022 12:12

I think they're making the opposite point than what you read it as

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 24/08/2022 12:15

You are really reaching to read that as a pop at JKR

This! It wasn't JK that turned it into a trans issue!

This, she turned it into a JKR issue and then the Daily Mail made it into a trans issue.

nauticant · 24/08/2022 12:32

What happened is that JKR made a statement that was nothing to do with trans and trans activists denounced her saying anything at all "because she is a transphobe who needs to be silenced, whatever it is she said".

Since the attack on Salman Rushdie was about free speech, who do you think is more aligned with that, JKR or the trans activists, and who do you think is responsible for "making it all about trans"?

I agree, I think this is the point being made. It's the new Godwin's law - perhaps we should name it?

It's not her fault that the Daily Mail take every tweet she makes or likes and use it to push their anti-trans agenda

Bernadinetta · 24/08/2022 13:10

It’s the opposite to how you’ve read it, OP.

placemats · 24/08/2022 13:15

It's exactly the opposite.

I don’t agree that JKR made this attack about her at all. She expressed sympathy and outrage. The TRAs made it all about them. As per.

I'd take a bet someone would have had a pop at her if she hadn't said anything.

It's like the pp said, the Daily Mail take everything she says and uses it to attack trans people.

This DM article below specifically calls for an end to pacifism when dealing with TRAs in her name.

OP Private Eye is very good on calling out the absurdity of gender ideology, they have been supportive of JKR in the past. You have completely misunderstood 😳

In what sense? You've obviously read the article. It looks to me as if it's about "the Culture Wars" in general.

Made me think of carcinisation, tendancy of arthropods to evolve into crabs:

Tracinisation?
