They're a bit thick if they haven't worked out they can just write "Mixed-sex toilets".

They don’t want to write that though. They want women to shit up and give up our rights to single sex spaces.

But also ,"restroom", and "bathroom"? In Bristol!?

tobee · 22/08/2022 23:05

Fuck the fuck off

Indeed, blatant damned americanisms! Fucking irritating, in Britain. It's a toilet (polite form) or bog (informal form), but never a "bathroom" (there's no fucking bath in there, for one thing, and nor would one expect a bath), and it has never ever been a "rest room" (lie down and snooze - where? - what with all the others coming in and out and pissing and shitting and changing their sanitaries etc.?)

If it says "bathroom" for bog - we're dealing with an alien and colonial culture.

WolverineBluey · 23/08/2022 08:11

It's a real giveaway, isn't it. Should set off the alarm bells. Indicates the people behind it have given as much critical thinking to their messaging as to the ideology as a whole.

JustWalking that is brilliant.

musicalfrog · 23/08/2022 08:40

Reading the replies on twitter there is just no reasoning with supporters of this. It's just not possible for them to see any other view point than their own. How awful to be so dogmatic!

I think toilet doors should have signs stating:

TODGERS

and

FANNIES

That should clear up any confusion right?

Artichokeleaves · 23/08/2022 09:12

Third spaces. The virtue signallers can all rush in there and get their kit off in support of random males they don't know, and I'll be very happy for them, I will gladly hold their coats. They're welcome to do whatever they want with male people and their own bodies.

What they're not welcome to do is hand over the bodies, spaces and rights of other females who do not consent. However entitled they feel and however passionate they are about their own lovely goodness and how naice it is to be naice, and about how very very special male people are and how lovely it is to mummy them.

TambourineOfRepentance · 23/08/2022 09:34

Not very concise, is it?

"We've got a barrel in here, if you'd like to bend over it for us!" would have summed it up.

Or "Fuck you, women".

JoodyBlue · 23/08/2022 12:33

The term "micro-aggression" is serving exactly the same purpose as the "no debate" mantra isn't it? Don't ask anything, even if it might help you to understand and therefore empathise. It is a point blank "do not question my existence". Good grief it is tiring and idiotic.

This. They can do the pick me dance as much as they want, I'm not going to.

That "they know better than you" US imported arsewash has been doing the rounds since even before I first peaked circa 2014 or thereabouts.

It quite beautifully shows genderism up for what it is - a misogynist power play hiding behind a cloak of weaponised so called "fragility".

Fuck that noise.

TheMarzipanDildo · 23/08/2022 12:42

I know gaslighting is an overused term, but what shitty, gaslighting behaviour. And such loaded, patronising language.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/08/2022 12:43

I was telling DP exactly that last night, as it has apparently gone viral outside of TRA/GC spaces and he mentioned it was on a big Reddit sub (with many many deleted posts!), because seeing it contributed to my peakening back then.

And yes, perfect summary.

Given that whoever wrote the sign must be American ("restroom"), that might confuse things even more. "Fanny" means "arse" over there, doesn't it?

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 23/08/2022 12:47

I'd have thought the 'genuine TW' would be up in arms about this, because of their safety concerns in 'mixed gender' spaces.

viques · 23/08/2022 12:51

Hells Bells, if some male person is using the female toilets like fuck am I not going to stare at them,I do hard stares, honed by years of death glares aimed at misbehaving kids who think sitting in the middle of a row in assembly puts them out of my reach. And they can count themselves lucky if staring is the only thing I do to protect my rights to decency and privacy.

EdithStourton · 23/08/2022 13:17

'They know better than you.'
Bollocks. So fucking patronising.
They can eff off with that one.

RhannionKPSS · 23/08/2022 14:58

Can I suggest we should bin any signs like this we come across...& replace them with more appropriate signs.
I may have done this recently...πŸ˜€

RhannionKPSS · 23/08/2022 14:59

Usually you will find the original women/ men signs or symbols underneath.

BaronMunchausen · 23/08/2022 15:02

This seems to be the same aggressive wording as signs that are cropping up in UK university toilets - the "bathroom" a telltale marker of copy-and-paste US cultural imperialism. Couldn't they at least have changed it to toilet? Maybe they were worried that anything short of a verbatim copy could be somehow 'wrong'. Must we all now refer to toilets as bathrooms?

Two of the icons at the bottom right corner seem to be male gender symbols, not sure what the other two are but they're not female....

mirroredballs · 23/08/2022 15:07

If you are a woman and feel uncomfortable sharing your facilities with a penis don't worry about it, men know more than you do.
Fuckers!!

I think this one's in London.

But it's pretty much a duplicate of the ones in the UWE ladies in Bristol.

Which in turn is a copy of those on American campuses (hence the slavishly copied Americanisms).

ScrollingLeaves · 23/08/2022 15:19

I feel so annoyed that the have appropriated Alan Turing’s name for this propaganda. Someone of his era would never, ever, have presumed to treat women this way. He would have been far too gentlemanly.

There could be other alternatives to keep transwomen safe.

I don’t know if anyone has posted this yet. It is very funny, but also illustrates how wrong this is, because all the clips are perfectly real.

I get the point about american language but last time I went to the loo in Bristol was in coffee/bar thing - and there was a signs from ceiling with arrows saying toilets pointing to wall - two doors both with rainbows on nothing else.

I think I got right one first time - no urinals - but only because women's toilet are often on right side and often slightly behind and men's left - though I can think of many exceptions to that.
