Woman is visited by a PSCO and told to remove an "offensive" sticker, told that her thinking is wrong and that she needs to educate herself. Also that TWAW is a fact.

FFS what the fuck is going on...

I can't get past the fact that there had already been a police visit in response to a complaint about the sticker and the police had decided there was no issue.

This PCSO then turned up on the pretext of enquiring about local drug crime before launching into her bullying diatribe.

She only backed off when the feisty daughters stood up for their mum.

I agree totally the PCSO was totally out of her jurisdiction. I'm wondering if she was even on duty?
She just used her uniform to bully and intimidate a vulnerable member if the public even though PCs had dealt with this. She had no need to get re involved. I wonder what she this PCSO had done.
Disgraceful abuse of power.

blahblahblahspoons · 15/08/2022 11:51

I mean it's fairly obvious in the recording that not only does Bella find the way the PCSO is speaking to her offensive (she's saying Bella isn't entitled to single sex rape support - most women find this offensive) but also upsetting.

I would say the children probably find the way their mother is being bullied - in their own home - offensive too.

So why is only one form of offence being punished here, especially when it's obvious which offence is the worse?

It's like with Kate Scottow. What Kate said might have been offensive to one person but the way she was treated by police was many, many times worse - extremely offensive and traumatic for her, her children, her family and millions of women. How on earth can minor offence excuse harassment and ill-treatment by police?

The government really needs to take control of the police force, they seem out of control. And having even 'non crime hate incidents' to be purely in the eye of the beholder is a clear recipe for disaster and an invitation for vexatious complaints by abusers.

hangonsnoopy · 15/08/2022 11:58

This is absolutely horrendous.

I couldn't even listen to more than one section of it.

How dare she tell a rape victim she isn't entitled to single sex support after rape.

VivaMazVegas · 15/08/2022 12:02

This makes me so angry. Although it also encourages me to display similar in solidarity.

ChuckItBucket · 15/08/2022 12:06

If you’re going to display a provocative sticker then you shouldn’t be too surprised that you provoke complaints. The PCSO was well out of line though with the way she spoke to her

Georgeskitchen · 15/08/2022 12:06

Is there a link to further comments on twitter? I cant find anything

achillestoes · 15/08/2022 12:09

‘If you’re going to display a provocative sticker then you shouldn’t be too surprised that you provoke complaints.’

It’s very surprising that people make criminal complaints about matters which are not criminal in nature. Why would you think otherwise?

NyanBinaryJohn · 15/08/2022 12:10

This has angered me no end. How dare that PCSO abuse her power and double down despite being told the woman she's lecturing is a rape victim?

For those of you who want to read a transcript, Glinner put one out this morning.

Are we now supposed to complain to the police when we see something provocative?!

It would be bloody marvellous if the police were more interested in actual crime rather than stickers that are merely 'provocative'. That sticker wasn't a police matter. The PCSO was thought policing, not policing.

I wonder how many unsolved burglaries, rapes, etc that police force has?

So anything I find 'provocative' is grounds for complaint to the police?

The only "complaint" seems to have been from the PCSO herself.

Being "provocative" isn't and shouldn't be a police matter anyway. This country is heading down a very dark path with this suppression of free expression. Well, some free expression.

@Torunette

Bella had already been visited by two officers who made her aware someone had complained but she’d no need to take the sticker down as the content was fine. Surely their visit would have been the system-satisfying outcome?

The PCSO’s visit looks even worse given that, really, doesn’t it? Because surely less a mysterious IT failure, she took it upon herself to make the visit, given the matter had already been been handled?

This is the final nail in the coffin, i have no faith or trust in the police

This.

I don't have the words to express my anger about this episode and how nearly it encapsulates the raging misogyny endemic in the police. If twins nicely with their raging racism.

We could clog the Police lines all over the country with perfectly valid complaints, but of course women taking offence at provocative, insulting or abusive anything doesn't matter and is dismissed.

I don’t think it’d work for the old fashion type of women. I don’t think we’re covered for the purposes of “non-crime”.

This is truly appalling. For anyone who really thinks the police don't need getting rid of and starting again, just read this.

Compare and contrast the 23(?) minutes of the PSCO's time spent berating Bella for doing nothing wrong (well 'wrongthink') vs less than 10 minutes trying to find someone reported as in need of urgent assistance having fallen off their bike in a cemetery. I really hope people lost their jobs over Jacqueline's death. If they didn't, then again - police not fit for purpose.

That poor person who called it in also - they must have assumed actual assistance would have been sent and they'd at least look in the cemetery. How awful to find out that it wasn't and the tragic result.

DarkDayforMN · 15/08/2022 13:00

I was thinking about that person too. You’d feel so guilty and responsible afterwards, for having expected a basic level of competence or caring from the police. They were even given her name and address so they could check up on her. It’s such horrific negligence.

Oh so that's what PCSOs do! I've never actually seen one doing any work. Silly me, I thought they were supposed to walk around and look after people. After all they do earn more than Police Officers initially. But no, they are propaganda officers for Stonewall, pedalling lies and bullying women in their homes. That PCSO needs to be sacked immediately. Really, what is the point of PCSOs? I thought they mostly just had affairs with middle aged police men, 3 PCSOs were having an affair with the same Police Officer locally, no-one surprised. Its what they do. No wonder they don't work past 10pm, with all the affairs and bullying women they must be exhausted. Really hope that PCSO is re-educated about her job description. It's frightening to hear a trans-ally woman in real life after only reading their desperate attempts to be cool on twitter before.

To be fair, I needed help with a nightmare neighbour & PCSO's were brilliant: they knew the law, knew what could & couldn't be done, were willing to listen to an unbelievable extent, gave me good advice & took action.

I'd like to know whether the police keep records of daily orders/ duties & of visits & their outcome. I'd imagine they do, but I honestly don't know. I'm just wondering if there's any record of an order being given to this PCSO to visit this lady, or any write-up of said visit.

“Haven’t had much sleep so am still bit all over place at moment. One of my children is still a child who need to be able to protect, there are lots to consider regarding our circumstances incl me being in position can safeguard him. It’s also one of reasons why not disclosed which Police Force this is. I am not going to let this go as I stubborn about rules esp when those in position of authority abuse their powers. I know do need help as this is something can’t do on my own and so so grateful for all support, I just need to think my next step.”
