Are they trying to make them rebrand to 'birthing person's Ruin?

They're getting desperate now the TWAW brigade.

JanieAllen · 30/07/2022 23:38

The commentators are really unhappy, aren't they. Poor babies 🙄

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 30/07/2022 23:57

I clicked on this hoping this was going to be a light-hearted weekend thread about the MN staple of Ginat the well-named Mother's Ruin Gin Palace.

This is beyond parody. Is contrived outrage a truly limitless source that would solve the world's problems if only it could be converted into energy and fuel for something practical and relevant?

JanieAllen · 31/07/2022 00:01

Honestly if I hadn't wontly bought an expensive hand made mug this weekend my finger would be clicking my way to Mother's Ruin. But I'm so tired of this they cancelled writers, dancers, BEAD MAKERS, embroiderers, soap makers, poets, and now gin makers. Have I left anyone out?

Butchers, bakers and candlestick makers?

JanieAllen · 31/07/2022 00:13

Ceramacists, artists.... tax experts, barristers, olympians

Bead makers?

GoodJanetBadJanet · 31/07/2022 01:28

Why would a business type account be liking anti trans type tweets in the first place?!
Hardly professional, surely as a business you keep neutral and just like related stuff, especially when it's promoting the fact it's supporting Pride that weekend there, I mean WTF

GoodJanetBadJanet · 31/07/2022 01:29

Why is BEAD MAKERS in capitals, are they extra special? 😕

There's something to be said for business accounts avoiding political stuff, but that would include Pride too.

Mysterioso · 31/07/2022 07:05

Keep neutral, support pride...

Schrodinger's professionalism.

AuntieStella · 31/07/2022 07:12

I suppose they'll have to rename it 'abortifacient'

Which makes the origin of the phrase a little more overt, and would be topical

Sometimes I think you must be a parody account

My new favourite sloe gin 💜

WarriorN · 31/07/2022 10:19

Omg perfect Xmas presents for my fellow mothers!

Perlunk · 31/07/2022 10:21

The brand name is based in the old trope that women who drink alcohol will neglect their children and turn to prostitution.

Nice…. Great brand to support on a feminist board.

To be fair, if a brand chooses to like GC causes from their twitter and not highlight any other political cause or viewpoint, that is an intentional brand positioning, which will push away people who do not take that position.

Women have been banned from Twitter for quoting Hansard because that's been deemed "anti-trans" so referring to an "anti trans type tweet" doesn't narrow it down much.

surely as a business you keep neutral

And, yes, I would very much like businesses to stick to their core business and caring for their customers and their service experience but it doesn't seem to happen that way. As I'm sure everyone here is only too aware…

Helleofabore · 31/07/2022 10:54

surely as a business you keep neutral

So, of course, that also applies to not promoting Pride or any like event as well…

JacquelinePot · 31/07/2022 11:01

Companies should remain neutral but also thumbs up to sponsoring pride? Reminds me of this. Is there a pattern?

We all think that.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 31/07/2022 11:03

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out given the current changes in the way the wind is blowing

mea culpa doesn’t really get you anywhere. I think the best way forward for this venue is to say as little as possible and certainly not row back

JanieAllen · 31/07/2022 11:04

yes glass BEAD MAKERS... because it just seemed to me utter pants who policies the thoughts of your local glass beadmaker?
