Pink News lays into former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies, because she says she has experienced a backlash over her views on trans women in women's sport.

Meh - prick news finds yet another woman to criticise. No change.

RoseslnTheHospital · 25/07/2022 18:13

Tbh I wouldn't bother clicking on that link and giving them the page views, I can imagine probably word for word what their opinion is of a woman who won't be cowed.

I hope that Sharron Davies starts to get work again as there seems to be a shift towards saying "no" to the demands and a return to some small level of critical thinking and real science. Certainly I would be thrilled to see more of her presenting sport on TV.

RoseslnTheHospital · 25/07/2022 18:17

I would also point out that if you go to her official website you can sign up for her fitness plan, if that's your sort of thing, which could be a good way of supporting her directly...

bloodyunicorns · 25/07/2022 18:20

Prick News, yawn. Worst-written drivel out there.

BaronessWrongCrowdRex · 25/07/2022 18:25

Viz is more factually correct than Prick News.

heathspeedwell · 25/07/2022 18:27

Another one here who wont be clicking on their link. But Sharron is immensely brave and compassionate - she understands the issues inside out and is always brilliant when she's interviewed. It would be great if she could be given a role as a TV presenter now that the tide is so obviously turning.

PearlClench · 25/07/2022 18:27

I don't give them clicks.

MaudeYoung · 25/07/2022 18:30

The article starts with an incorrect statement:

"A former Olympic swimmer, Davies, 59, has been outspoken about her opposition to trans inclusion in sports."

Sharron Davies has never been opposed to so-called "trans inclusion" in sports.

What Sharron Davies has always said is that males should not participate in female sports; that males should participate with other males in sports.

In Pink News jargon this means that so-called "transwomen" (men who claim they are women) should not compete in women's sports, they should compete in men's sports.

SpindleInTheWind · 25/07/2022 18:34

I'm not giving that political propaganda pamphlet any clicks.

I may find a way to support Sharron Davies though.

RoyalCorgi · 25/07/2022 18:52

I sometimes wonder if we're the only people who read Pink News.

Exactly.

Wankerzzzz.

So badly the wrong side of history.

Anyone known what their circulation /readership is?

Pickanameforme · 25/07/2022 19:26

RoyalCorgi 😂

mrshoho · 25/07/2022 19:32

Predictable tosh from that lot. Sharron Davies know more about Women's sport than the entire childish contributers to pink news. Well done Sharron for speaking the truth. Her contribution has been invaluable to the movement of removing men from Women's competition. Thank you Sharron.

Needmoresleep · 25/07/2022 19:36

I don't know if this has been posted

A brave woman. I hope one day people/broadcasters will recognise bravery and honesty.

Igmum · 25/07/2022 20:25

So sorry to hear this about SD. She is an amazing woman who has shown such courage. This is how the powerful trans lobby works, stopping people's funding. I'll have a look at her fitness plan on her website- would be good to support her

Indeed! Here's a freshly archived version: web.archive.org/web/20220725195027/www.pinknews.co.uk/2022/07/25/sharron-davies-olympics-trans-athletes-bankruptcy/

bellinisurge · 25/07/2022 20:55

Pink News can go fuck themselves. Sharron knows a cheat when she sees on. She was denied Olympic gold by systematic state sponsored cheating

Tallisker · 25/07/2022 20:57

Blimey I hope I look like her when I'm 59. Oops too late. I'd quite like to see her and L Thomas side by side for a size comparison.

And I will certainly check out her fitness stuff, hopefully there'll be lots tailored for the post-menopausal woman. I'd be most happy to support her.

Snort

PearlClench · 25/07/2022 21:24

I see Sharron Davies has devised an online training programme that is supposed to get you fit in less than an hour a week.

I am prepared to do some things for women's rights but I do wonder if losing weight and getting fit and healthy seems a step too far ...

MishyJDI · 25/07/2022 21:29

Surprised lgb alliance hasn’t come out on this. Ah but they only seem to have an interest in trans issues. Makes you laugh.

Needmoresleep · 25/07/2022 21:42

Mishi, please. Give it a rest.

Helleofabore · 25/07/2022 22:30

Their hatred for women drips off that article!

Despite her own decision to publicly make comments opposing trans athletes, Davies now appears to be claiming that she has become a victim of cancel culture.

… obviously because no one can have a different opinion so therefore any abuse is justified because she brought it on herself is how I read this.

And quoting that vile whatthetrans..? Oh and isn’t mimmybirthingparent the one who sued Miranda Yardley? Well done, they have hardly shown the community as showing the tolerance they demand. In fact, it shows the distinct lack of any ability to accept any opinion other than the ones that fall precisely into the narrow confines of the one they dictate.

It certainly highlights the lack of ability to be reasonable or professional at all. Own goal really.

brokengoalposts · 25/07/2022 23:01

She isn't a former Olympic swimmer, she is an Olympic swimmer, there is no need for the word former. Pedantic, maybe, but I'd expect better of a serious journalist.
