(And do they mean 'going beyond non-binary'? Surely it should say going beyond the binary?)

How don't they understand that they completely undermine any other things they say, when they blatantly misrepresent (or lie) about there being more than 2 sexes.

If they'll lie about this, what else will they lie about? And just who is pushing it?

I think the concern here really depends on what they end up printing.

The may go the whole "sex is spectrum and anyone could be anyone, really" gender woo route. But it could also be about making their work on variations of sexual development much clearer. The Who have had a program for years that tries to stop cosmetic surgery on kids whose genitals don't match male or female norms. It has stopped a lot of kids being mutilated or dying from botched operations that were not necessary to their well being and that took away the choice from them for when they were adult. It also reinforced aesthetic ideas about what it meant to be male and female.

If it's this that the rewording is aimed at it's something most GC feminists will be strongly behind.

Sadly reading the call for comment, it is nothing to do with preventing unnecessary surgery and all about gender theories.

luckily this is still at consultation stage and I really hope Emma Hilton, Sex Matters and those policy women in Scotland (BMB??) input to the consultation. Also Alice Sullivan. I really really hope someone at FCDO will respond. I think this is now all on the UK, most other big donors to WHO won’t say that sex matters.

if we lose a reality-based community at WHO then we have lost a lot. It’s fine of course for them to acknowledge the specific needs of trans and non-binary people, but they can’t pretend that political theories about gender have the status of clinical evidence !
