In case we hadn’t had enough drama.

Good luck, Maya.

Allison Bailey is on it.

Julie Bindel's handling Nottingham City Council. Although half their supporters thought she was Julie Burchill, so Christ knows who they think they're up against.

Perhaps she can identify as Burchill.

😁

Stonewall tweeting as if they haven’t been arguing that MF isn’t entitled to her philosophical beliefs (eye roll).

No-one has the right to discriminate against, or harass, trans people simply because they disagree with their existence and participation in society.

I really wish they'd grow the fuck up. Do they employ any adults with professionalism and dignity. Its just more grifting isn't it? Make sure trans people know the world would be such a hostile place for them if it wasn't for SW when the truth is SW are making things so much worse for them.

Anyone got a Btech or a Baccalaureate?

How about passing the 11 plus?!

Not a Btech, but Cuck00soup has got a BIG TEXT.

TheBiologyStupid · 06/07/2022 22:27

Allison Bailey is already on it, of course...

It’s the only thing that keeps me going, TBH. That and the humour

LovinglifeAF · 06/07/2022 22:47

I actually feel emotional at this decision. Thanks to Maya I can be that little bit more brave as a GC woman. What an incredible woman she is.

FlibbertyGiblets · 06/07/2022 22:50

Huge round of applause for Maya and her team, mighty chuffed for them.

I like BIG TEXT and I cannot lie

Apologies if someone has already linked to this - here's the report on today's judgement in Personnel Today (warning: contains RMW!)

Oh bravo! 👏 😂

Mollyollydolly · 06/07/2022 23:15

We really need the screenplay writing now. It is the most amazing black, satirical comedy, with brilliant women at its heart. Please someone write and commission it.

Maya you are a true suffragette.

JacquelineCarlyle · 07/07/2022 00:54

Fantastic news - well done Maya and thank you!

CriticalCondition · 07/07/2022 08:44

Maya on R4 now!

p1n3apple · 07/07/2022 08:49

I was listening! Great interview, well done Maya 👏

JoodyBlue · 07/07/2022 09:03

I was listening too. It was perhaps the most confidently I have ever heard Maya say on mainstream media that a person can't change sex. Of course, all decent people do their best to respect others, however they present. But we are allowed to think the truth and to express that when it matters. One of the difficulties is we have been so conditioned over the past 5 years to not speak.

TeenDivided · 07/07/2022 09:05

Maya did a great job on R4. Clear answer to the 'what if they have undergone full surgery' question (answer not my job to police different levels of transition (or some such), just being clear you can't change sex. Mentioned sport (which the interviewer did not want to discuss).

geojellyfish · 07/07/2022 09:09

I would like to see Maya recognised for her contribution towards defending women's rights. As a minimum she should be on various women of the year lists after this, but I'm not sure anyone is brave enough yet. In a few years though? Here's hoping!

BSC?

(Bronze Swimming Certificate)

mrshoho · 07/07/2022 09:32

Well I'll throw my BAGA (gymnastics) certificates in in that case. So proud of my perfect head stand!

ReneBumsWombats · 07/07/2022 09:33

JKR blew us a kiss!

The fact that Maya (and JKR) acknowledges Mumsnet (which will be predominantly this forum) really highlights the enigma that is MNHQ and Justine on this. Maya was posting here and being supported. The discussion that has taken place here has been a major contributor to this landmark decision. I struggle to understand why MNHQ isn’t phenomenally proud of its role in such a landmark decision. Instead they talk about allowing discussion while at the same time corralling it into one small space and have had special moderation rules around discussing the very thing Maya has won the right to state freely.

I really genuinely don’t get what MNHQ wants to BE on this🧐.

Fear is a very powerful emotion unfortunately, which is what makes what Maya and JKR have done so amazing

FigRollsAlly · 07/07/2022 09:54

It’s fear of losing advertisers mainly. TRAs are very good at threatening and shaming companies who don’t toe the line so this board is a compromise between cold, hard economic realism and principles.

The thing is we all know that there are women/mothers who don't agree with the arguments made on FWR. We may consider their reasons and disagree also. But the fact that mumsnet holds space for disagreement -- perhaps that's the modelling we need to see in society. It is what is missing - a grown up space to discuss and to disagree. I think mumsnettowers should be incredibly proud of allowing that space.

TeenDivided · 07/07/2022 09:56

I think MN wants to support free speech and women's rights, whilst not wanting to be overwhelmed by complaints which would grind it to a halt.
It also wouldn't want to alienate a significant percentage of its users who don't feel strongly either way on the issue and don't want it rammed down their throats (even if people on this board think that percentage are naive or willfully ignorant).
To be honest I think MN is doing a pretty good job on this topic. Yes it asks wording to be a bit convoluted at times, but it has provided a forum for discussion, and things can be said here that haven't been allowed anywhere else.
It also insists that its rules on petitions and crowdfunders are followed whilst simultaneously letting people on here be very clear about when they exist.
Don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough. MN may not be perfect but it is doing a good enough job on this imo.
