"Assigned at birth" - challenging it at school

Has anyone successfully challenged the use of this terminology in a school? I teach science in a secondary school and I've just overheard a non-science teacher explaining to children in PSHE that biological sex is assigned at birth. I need to challenge it, but wondered if anyone has managed to get that particular terminology changed.

Really? I mean those who say it seem so sure of the ‘science’ behind it…😜

God this thread is exhausting. We are no more assigned a sex at birth than we are assigned human at birth. The terminology is used to shore up gender ideology, which is why so many people are so invested in this issue they describe as 'petty'. If it's so petty, why are you devoting so much energy to defending it?

No I dont think that, I just think people are being ridiculous about a word.

@GailForce10
Its 'which one are', not is.

But you didnt hit a nerve. It's just a fact.

No. You didn't understand Gail's point.

Which is not surprising if you think that kids emerge from the womb sexless and are designated boys or girls depending on some random factors (maybe which colour blankie is available on the day)? Who knows.
