Why did this person get air time with no confrontation of the injuries they gave an opponent?
From Wikipedia During Fox's fight against Tamikka Brents on September 13, 2014, Brents suffered a concussion, an orbital bone fracture, and seven staples to the head in the 1st round. After her loss, Brents took to social media to convey her thoughts on the experience of fighting Fox: "I've fought a lot of women and have never felt the strength that I felt in a fight as I did that night. I can't answer whether it's because she was born a man or not because I'm not a doctor. I can only say, I've never felt so overpowered ever in my life and I am an abnormally strong female in my own right," she stated. "Her grip was different, I could usually move around in the clinch against other females but couldn't move at all in Fox's clinch ..."

I’m amazed that a BBC journalist would not do the most basic research on the person they’re going to interview. Two minutes’ googling would tell you all you need to know about Fallon Fox.

At this level, this is why they have a whole team of bookers and researchers on whom they're supposed to be able to rely. There's a team of people who do the research and booking and provide the research notes to the producers and the presenter.

They trust the entire team to have each others' backs and do their jobs.

As above, I wonder if the bookers knew exactly who Fallon Fox is and if there there were some motivated reasoning behind the omission in the research briefing/notes. Relatively junior people can have a remarkable amount of influence if they're not impartial or act according to their preferred agenda.

I know the BBC has lost a lot of staff but I assumed that there were still enough production staff on the Today programme to do some background searches on their guests.

However, maybe it will work out for the best. Fallon Fox appears to be very unapologetic. I did see one tweet commenting that the skull fracture was a very common injury in this 'sport' but there is overwhelming criticism (a) for the Today programme using Fallon Fox as a guest and (b) opposition to MMA matches in which women compete against trans women.

More R4 coverage.

The newscast podcast from Tuesday outlined the issues in what sounded (I was only listening superficially) like an objective way.

And there was a teaser that the new
podcast antisocial might cover the issue in more detail.

Well of course, they are the Most Oppressed and Marginalised™️ community ever after all. 🙄
I really do hope Justin Webb does a follow up and explains in more detail about Fallon Fox’s background and apologises for having such a person on the show, or at the very least somebody bollocks whichever researcher suggested having Fox on. I was fuming listening to Fallon refusing to get into the science but still asserting that there’s no advantage for transwomen over women, knowing how badly Fallon had injured the women Fallon fought.

Was it fox who went onto the ring with an opponent who didn’t know their history?

Yes. I think the woman whose skull was fractured was quoted as saying that she had not expected a blow of such force.
