Oh wow, another delay until 3pm.
I know today is just a preliminary hearing, but it's still important.
JE's initial complaint was against the Metanoia institute, who appear to have summarily ejected him from his Psychotherapy training (without a clear process) after he started and then tweeted about a petition regarding the government consultation on Conversion therapy.
He later added the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) to the complainant, because of some comments made at a UKCP training session about his situation. I can't remember the details of what was reported, but he considers them to be libellous. I believe he was called transphobic among other things, and was made out to be bigoted and to hold unacceptable views.
According to his update, the hearing today is because 2 of the parties have applied to have his complaint against them struck out. I suspect that that is the UKCP and the anonymous Respondent 3 - who is presumably involved somehow in the UKCP training event incident.
To me, that's quite a big deal. The UKCP is JE's professional body, although it's not a regulatory body. For them to have delivered a training that made these kinds of comments about JE is effectively to say that you cannot be gender critical (a belief that has now been found worthy of respect in a democratic society) and be an accredited Psychotherapist. I very much hope that the complaints are not struck out, so will be following with considerable interest.
