Deleted thread?

Can anyone explain why a recent thread was deleted? It was about a London firm and the OP had submitted some questions to them regarding single sex spaces etc. I tried to find it but it's disappeared unfortunately.

Oh that’s a shame. I was planning on saving some of her letter to use with my employers too.wish I’d done it yesterday now

Nightmare2022 · 11/06/2022 11:54

I’ve emailed to Mumsnet mods to ask why it was deleted. I couldn’t see anything wrong with it, but I suspect it was call-out as ‘transphobic’

mrshoho · 11/06/2022 11:58

I know! I thought it was really well thought out. I can't understand why it would have be deleted.

Maybe the OP had second thoughts, given the risk she might end up doxxed? It was an excellent thread. I hope someone has it archived.

Clymene · 11/06/2022 12:11

Oh no! Can anyone remember the OP's name? Her letter was excellent

Clymene · 11/06/2022 12:11

And it's so annoying that threads now just disappear with no message. So you don't know why

Peregrina · 11/06/2022 12:12

I agree. Someone did jump in to yell transphobe, but there was nothing against transpeople that I could see. It was about single sex spaces protected by law, and consultation with staff members.

There is obviously a lesson there though - if you see a thread with some good arguments laid out, take a copy smartish before it gets pulled.

fullandempty · 11/06/2022 12:13

Was that the thread about the crowdfunders?

kittensinthekitchen · 11/06/2022 12:17

Assuming it was this thread?

You can see the deletion message there.

You will find a cache of page 1 here if any of the text is helpful to those looking for template letters 😉

iirc The deletion message said something about 'doubts about the OP', it wasn't for 'breaking talk guidelines'.

The Chucked A thread? This is your regular PSA to archive such items to one of the archive services or save it as a pdf. (None of us has enough time to do this, I know. And sometimes the deletions happen quickly that we don't have time to do this.)

I wonder if @CraggyIslandTouristBoard has a copy that she'd be OK to share with you?

eurochick · 11/06/2022 12:19

I was looking for that thread too! I wonder what on earth the concerns were. Hmm.

I work at a large law firm and everything said about the town hall and the chance to submit questions had an air of truth. When I saw it had gone I wondered if the firm had been identified and that was the reason for the deletion.

No, but that thread is gone as well due to the vase being part of an active police investigation? Which seems odd as someone on the thread said it had been referred to the police, but refused to come back with evidence.

So it’s entirely unclear how MNHQ “know” there’s an active investigation ongoing.

Unless I’m misunderstanding something. Anyway here’s the deletion message
This is an active investigation by Police Scotland so we think it's best we remove the whole thread to avoid compromising the case.

mrshoho · 11/06/2022 12:22

Thanks yes that's the one! I hope the OP is ok and can report back with the response in due course.

Wonder if the template thread was a PBP rather than a troll, as there was nothing outwardly wrong about the thread

Illegallyblonder · 11/06/2022 12:25

What a great thread, wtf was it deleted?

NecessaryScene · 11/06/2022 12:31

So it’s entirely unclear how MNHQ “know” there’s an active investigation ongoing.

The original ribboning incident is the ongoing investigation - the charges were never fully dropped, contrary to the premise of the "concern", but there's some sort of review going on.

“Until any review has been completed the question of whether or not there will be a prosecution remains open.

“The Crown reserves the right to proceed and will not comment further.”

(Has there been an update on that front since I've missed?)

I think that was the Marion Millar one, there was another one a few days ago about crowdfunders in general called something like 'Have crowdfunders gone too far?'

Peregrina · 11/06/2022 12:34

There was nothing about a Police investigation in it. It was someone asking a question in a firm's internal forum.

Ahh I thought MMs case was closed hence why there was “concern” over where the funds raised went.

Sorry for the confusion everyone. Too many deleted threads to keep track of now 🤦🏽‍♀️

JellySaurus · 11/06/2022 12:41

I may have taken some screenshots...

CraggyIslandTouristBoard · 11/06/2022 12:42

Hello, just a v quick reply to say all fine thanks - thread (temporarily I hope!) suspended because mumsnet found I had 2 accounts, which is apparently Not Allowed.
I’ve explained to them that I set up a new account from a burner email following the latest mumsnet data breach. Apparently if someone reported a post they were sent an email confirmation which contained the email address of the person whose thread they reported. While the issue has been fixed Mumsnet has form for this and funnily enough I didn’t fancy Mumsnet handing over my firstnamelastname email account to any TRA who wanted to report me!

Waiting to hear back from MN and hoping they will reinstigate the thread.

mrshoho · 11/06/2022 12:48

Hello 👋 Craggy. Glad to hear it's getting sorted. The possible implications of that data breach is shocking.
