Reading this article in the Irish Times "Dublin Pride ends RTÉ media partnership over ‘anti-trans rhetoric" " reminds me of a toddler throwing their dummy out of the cot.
I've listened to some of the Joe Duffy stuff (which is on the radio at a time when most people are at work).
I'm pro-human rights in every form, and believe that how we treat the most vulnerable is a reflection of who we really are.
The reaction of Dublin Pride prompts me to say "cop on".
I work with truly vulnerable children, including some who are on 24hour monitoring for seizure activity, home oxygen, who require a specialised taxi to get to school, need a positioning system to prevent hip dislocation during sleep. I also work with people who identify as transgender and they are provided with affirming, careful and sensitive support.
This isn't a game of "who is the most vulnerable?" but like really? Cop on.
Someone needs to be an adult here, and Dublin Pride aren't meeting the criteria at the moment.
