She's getting a lot of hate in the comments, and I feel bad for her, but still impressed by her bravery. She and two other women have lost money because Red Bull awarded the transwoman first prize. My own teen DDs skateboard and snowboard. It's a wonderful experience for them...inexpensive exercise and camaraderie w/ fellow board girls. Girls deserve prize money as well as boys.

Thanks for posting this. It is great to see that she is speaking out, but so unfair that a transwoman is allowed into the female category. Yet another sport which is failing women athletes.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 18/05/2022 18:45

Well done that woman. I hope she is ok.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 18/05/2022 18:50

That's a brave young woman. Hopefully the growing community of women and men worldwide who are outraged at this cheating will offer her support.

SpiritRidingFree · 18/05/2022 18:57

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea this had crept into boarding, too. Taylor is quite simply laying out the facts here, and getting piled on for it.

She has every right to be livid, im fuming for her. So bloody unfair.

megletthesecond · 18/05/2022 19:32

The majority of those comments 🙄.

I could see boarding being very affected by it. I can imagine some of the male demographic for the sport having a substantial crossover with those who have some sort of trans/queer identity. A lot like Roller Derby which seems to have been sport's ground zero.

Good on her for speaking out. It's a sport where sex differences do have an impact even though many people wouldn't be aware of that.

FunnyTalks · 18/05/2022 19:33

Fantastically brave woman!

It's not always easy for girls to get into skating or bmx. Skate parks can be intimidating places, with groups of boys/men often congregating at the top of ramps.

Onwards22 · 18/05/2022 19:39

Caitlin Jenner who is an ex Olympic athlete and a trans woman herself has spoken about this many times and does not believe trans people should compete with biological sexes.

I completely agree and we need to not ‘cancel’ anyone who speaks out about it.

ScreamingMeMe · 18/05/2022 20:25

Say what you like about Tim Pool, but this is pretty great of him.

(He's a skateboarder himself.)

"Timcast will gladly cover the difference and grant Taylor Silverman the $2250 difference lost due to placing behind a male athlete

We will also be willing to cover the total lost revenue for the female athletes who would have placed higher were it not for the male athlete"

That's excellent ScreamingMeMe A very powerful intervention.

Ugh the comments are depressing

MrGHardy · 18/05/2022 22:43

Not just hate, but that entire comment section is a hot mess. Between the insults and ridicule, you have genderists spouting biological nonsense.

I am more and more convinced genderism is the new religion of the 21st century. I see no difference in how they believe in the idea and how they view anyone who does not.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 18/05/2022 23:15

What a wonderful intervention by Tim Pool. I know prescious little about him (even after looking at wiki!) Has he spoken on this topic before?

Helleofabore · 18/05/2022 23:24

Another very brave young woman.

I believe there is a ‘free skater’ or something like that event where an Australian transitioned male is going to represent Australia in a world championships in Brazil. I have not been able to find anything about it except that I heard about it elsewhere.

It seems like skateboarding is one of this sports that might be slipping male inclusion under the radar. But of course, the ability for women to do anything like the same tricks as males on snow or skateboards is not possible due to physiology.

I hope she can get enough momentum that people actually start supporting her.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 18/05/2022 23:36

The comments have made me really, really sad.

quixote9 · 19/05/2022 03:13

If we're having males compete against females and calling it a job well done, why stop there?

All those classes of boxers separated by a few mere kilos? Enough already. Such discrimination!

College students should play in middle school sports. They're all students, for heaven's sake. The middle schoolers can always train harder if they don't like losing all the time.

Etc etc etc ad infinitum et nauseam

Helleofabore · 19/05/2022 08:04

Here is an Australian surfer taking positions from females at at least state level.

Justme56 · 19/05/2022 08:08

I see there is now a longboard surfer, Sasha Jane Lowerson, who has won both the mens and womens competition in Western Australia after changing their identity. It’s a big No Thank you from me.

DysonSphere · 19/05/2022 08:32

I left some supportive comments, she is (yesterday at least) getting seriously burned in the comment section, but it's Insta, so I wouldn't take the comment section too seriously. In some ways it's worse for performative virtue signalling than Twitter. It is inhabited mostly by a youngish gen z/millennial crowd, it's all quick soundbite look how inclusive/accepting/socially progressive I am.

I rarely see much in the way of critical thinking or opinions beyond the established msm, globalist narratives there.

If you've got nothing much original to say, but you still need to establish yourself as an influencer, start out on Insta.

She is very brave, considering the character of the platform and how young she is.

standoctor · 19/05/2022 08:51

It is insane that anyone who is biologically a man can compete with women
They should compete with men

Dinosauria · 19/05/2022 08:54

See also BMX.

Brave woman.

Artichokeleaves · 19/05/2022 08:55

Good for her.

The answer to the comments - ok, let's have two women's competitions. The mixed sex women's and the female only. (Cue howls of rage) However TW would also have their sex based option and an alternative, everyone would.

And females who believe it's more important to emotionally support a male person's dreams and feelings than to have a life or ambitions of their own can do so. Lets see who that mixed sex league is totally dominated by, how many female athletes would actually be prepared in reality to voluntarily play the service human part if they are not forced to, and how long female people really find this fulfilling to participate in. (And whether anyone male, or male supporting successfully manages to give a damn.)

334bu · 19/05/2022 09:35

Thank you for posting.

TheBiologyStupid · 19/05/2022 10:45

I see that Tim Pool could be considered "problematic" by many, but credit where it's due, his supportive behaviour in this case is to be applauded.

Gawd...that's so obnoxious. The hubris and ego is mind blowing. I feel so bad for all the women and girls who have to watch him steal their awards.
