I know that there are so many videos out there now, but here's another one... post-surgery MtF detransitioner... interesting to note that he says that at the age of 24 he had no idea what a mistake he was making. Not being funny, but what percentage of post-surgery regret would be acceptable? Given the extreme thing that "bottom surgery" is [honesty self-censored to avoid typical MN over-moderation, despite the fact that "bottom-surgery" is a gaslighting and deceptive term which TRAs use to help gaslight young and vulnerable people], and given that it catgeorically cannot do what it implies it can (make you change sex) I would argue that one in a thousand or one in ten thousand being regretful is too many. And I supect it is more like one in two, or 90 in 100, or 99 in 100. Are there any trans youtubers who seem genuinely well adjusted and happy? (Maybe an unfair question as one might argue it is impossible to look well adjusted whilst being a youtuber!)

For a lot of these men (who I assume were gay men) I wonder how exactly gay men treat them afterwards, when men be interested in a man and his neo-vagina?

SpindleInTheWind · 16/05/2022 22:52

I'm not understanding the relevance of this guy's accent either?

Surely it's the content that matters.

Maybe some organisation could run a workshop to let them know how bigoted they are if they are not interested in his neo vaginia? I'm sure someone could help gay men break down their barriers. Like lesbians are being told to do.

To be fair the two things are different. Teaching people to open their minds to people with disfiguring injuries and loss of body parts, and to people with serious mental health issues, is arguably odd and maybe bad, but it is nothing like seeking encourage women to have sex outside of the realms of their sexual orientation.

Someone DH worked with transitioned MtoF. They were middle aged and very overweight, had to wear a wig to cover baldness.
They thought after surgery they would be irresistible to heterosexual men. They weren’t. They now present as a man again, but they did have full surgery.
They had a year of living as a woman (i.e. wearing skirts) and therapy. Which failed to pick up the main issue was they were unhappy being gay.

Very true GCRich

In the past, when Miranda Yardley had surgery, the waiting lists weren’t so long and the psychiatrists weren’t as booked up. Counsellors/psychotherapists who haven’t received specialist training are just taking the ‘bekind’/affirmation only approach in the UK. I write as the mother of a young adult who saw a school counsellor, psychotherapist & CAMHS counsellor.

Mumsnet moderators have the blood of regretful post-surgery detransitioners on their hands, as does anyone here in 2022 who is not willing to allow honest chat about the realities of experimental unnecessary surgery,.

This stuff is transcending feminism now to be honest.......

It's a massive medical and educational negligence horror show........

Everyone (peddling the ideas and ideology) is complicit in the harm......

we can't turn to gender studies to help analysis as they're the worst offenders....... secret misogynists don't listen to anything that remotely has a whiff of feminism; we've been smeared..... the tide will only begin to turn as the males also join the wave of those speaking out, and their issues are clearly different to the women who've been harmed by the idea they can be a man...... the feminist cause is still exceptionally important obviously as absolutely none of the ideology benefits women in any way shape or form.

WarriorNewAgain · 17/05/2022 11:44

Yes GC. It's a massive safeguarding and medical negligence scandal. education, the nhs, CAHMS, police, social services and charities are all culpable.

MagnoliaTaint · 17/05/2022 11:45

Well. The deletions are where women have expressed concerns for the people like the one in the OP's video, who have been harmed irrevocably. There will be many more, sadly. I can only hope the Cass Report comes as quickly as possible, and that the NHS is able to properly support and help those who need it.

CharmD · 17/05/2022 11:46

What's the Cass report?

MagnoliaTaint · 17/05/2022 11:52

An enquiry into the care of youths with gender divergent identities and GD

NecessaryScene · 17/05/2022 11:55

What's the Cass report?

Quoting from their site:

The Independent Review of Gender Identity Services for Children and Young People (The Cass Review) was commissioned by NHS England and NHS Improvement in Autumn 2020 to make recommendations about the services provided by the NHS to children and young people who are questioning their gender identity or experiencing gender incongruence.

Interim report has been published - thread here:

The whole trans debate is multi-faceted and people should understand that.

There is a serious medical issue over people (both men and women) that have been rail-roaded into medical transition. The lawsuits will be damaging to the NHS, the damage is lifelong to those detransitioners.

We have the changing of language and the inability to say "woman".

We also have men (who aren't trans) who use the self-ID loopholes for all sorts of nefarious reasons.

We don't need to play Top Trumps over what is worse than the other, there's so much damage being done to so many people.

BlondeEgg · 17/05/2022 12:24

The Debra Soh Podcast has several episodes discussing this subject. Very interesting pod.

Sausageandeggs · 17/05/2022 14:03

This is tragic. How this won’t be seen as medical abuse in the future I don’t know.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why people support this, when they have been exposed to the horrors. I know someone personally who has seen the abundance of posts I’ve made on Facebook, many of which detail the medical horror show, from puberty blockers to surgery. The child abuse. The detransitioned. And yet even recently they posted about how MtF surgery is lovely and wonderful because ‘male reproductive organs are such a close match to female.’

I think the extreme left (in the context of American politics) is making this happen. The conflation with homosexuality/LGBTQ etc. The idea of ‘be kind’. The ‘anyone can do what they want with their body’, the sex-positive feminism, the subconscious capitulation and submissiveness of those females to males, the patriarchal indoctrination of religious households. The drag queen phenomena. It’s a toxic mix.
