I wish Posie had been there

The woman is a legend, she is bloody fearless, has put herself in the line of fire numerous times at great personal cost. I know her politics don't perfectly align with the lefty lot, and she's pissed of people like Julie Bindel, but honestly, she's done so much good in this fight and reached people all over the world.

Me too...but then we can say that about so many women, not least the ones on here who were acutely aware of the problems with genderism before the people on Twitter had even heard of it.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/04/2022 22:11

Tbh - there are so many women doing fantastic work - Stephanie Davies Arai, Nic Williams, Sarah Phillimore to name just 3. Of course not everyone can be invited everywhere and it seems a shame to be divisive about what was obviously a lovely event.
One day (when women are finally allowed to meet without men's permission) maybe we'll hire the Albert Hall or Wembley and celebrate the emergence of such a fantastic movement of so many wonderful women.

materialgirrlz · 12/04/2022 22:17

I don't think she's in the inner circle Hmm

Karen Ingala Smith is another Shero. I worked with her once upon a time. She was completely focussed on women. Nothing else came close.

GreenTeaBean · 12/04/2022 22:21

No, she's definitely not in the inner circle. It's a shame and feels political. It feels like a snub. However, I do think it's bloody amazing and it has been an utter joy seeing those pics and imagining the fun.
Yes, I take the point that there were plenty of others who didn't attend. Stephanie in particular should be knighted for her contribution to this. If she wasn't invited, and she may well have been, it would have been due to numbers. Not the same as Posie.

I wish Emma had been there.

I expect there’ll be other lunches, hopefully this was the first of many.

GreenTeaBean · 12/04/2022 22:23

Just saw a proposal on Twitter for a day of women's lunches. Great idea.

OP posts:
Linguini · 12/04/2022 22:23

Are you seriously having a problem with women that lunch because PP wasn't there, how do you know she wasn't invited? Why can't JKR invite who she wants? JKR didn't invite Datun. Are you genuinely sad about that?

Linguini · 12/04/2022 22:25

More lunches!

Then we can have sad and angy cries about them too!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 12/04/2022 22:27

I think that the best thing to do, rather than wishing JK had or hadn't done this or that, is for you to show your appreciation of Posie yourself, to Posie. Go to the next Hyde Park Corner meet-up and buy her a drink and a burger in the pub afterwards.

LauriePartridge4Eva · 12/04/2022 22:27

The pictures gave me and every other woman with a cop on so much joy! And I for one feel that we were all there in spirit. We can't ALL be there but that's not the point! And all of us do a bit, well, it probably matters a LOT! (I managed to peak a colleague of mine in five minutes today who started the conversation with "I believe people can be born in the wrong bodies..")

What did you say?
LauriePartridge4Eva · 12/04/2022 22:34

Spring, I said she would never say that to someone with a disability. She would never point to a girl or boy with anorexia and lie to them, that YES their bodies are wrong and they should keep trying to fix them. I said we are our bodies and they can't be wrong ffs. I told her that we as adults can't lie to our children that they can ever change sex.

Then I hit her with the big guns...that these poor men who are supposedly in the wrong bodies KEEP their junk and threaten women and girls with it online if they don't get to barge into rape crisis centres and refuges.

Yeah...she said she never wants to think about these men again.

Floisme · 12/04/2022 22:35

For goodness sake people, it was a private lunch and JK can invite whomever she likes. We don't own her.

ZaraSizeMedium · 12/04/2022 22:36

I think it's absolutely wonderful that I can name about 15 other women I think shoulda woulda coulda been invited but weren't there, and I think it's a real shame that some people are trying to turn what looked like a really joyous event into some kind of "mean girls", who snubbed who, scenario.

People?? We are all saying we can't all be there and it's 100%.

I honestly am not getting that....we are all happy about the lunch. I think the OP is just saying it would have been nice to see Posie there considering the enormous crap she has taken but that's it, that's as far as it goes.

ZaraSizeMedium · 12/04/2022 22:42

The OP stated "it feels like a snub".

StopStartStop · 12/04/2022 22:42

It's not up to me to dictate who JKR invites to lunch.
Where is Kellie-Jay, by the way? I haven't seen so much of her since she came back from the US.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 12/04/2022 22:45

This is very divisive thinking and I would urge you to reconsider your perspective.

LauriePartridge4Eva · 12/04/2022 22:48

I think she was just worried, is all, because we all know Posie polarises people (I love her and don't give s shit who knows it)

Hatinafield · 12/04/2022 22:48

Just no need for such a divisive thread.
Everybody can’t be at everything. That’s ok.

Kelly-Jay was a member of the Labour party once upon a time.

I love Posie and I think she's got ovaries of steel but tbh I think she's better doing her own thing. She has good instincts for getting a message across, she's so determined and can definitely galvanise people. Her media interviews are brilliant, clear, concise and not messing around. Given the nature of the world we live in, it's a sad but true fact that she has so many interview opportunities because she articulates herself very well, stays calm and on point AND has a very media friendly face. She's not daft, she knows this and exploits it to full advantage to get the message out there. I think more controlled "professional feminism" would be restrictive for her.

If she didn't get invited I hope she knows how appreciated she is by many ordinary women.

materialgirrlz · 12/04/2022 22:49

It's not just the lunch, they have their clique and she's not in it - although she's done more to raise awareness than all of them put together.
