That was great. The nation will be choking on their cornflakes at the person before Sharron.

Thank you Sharron for standing up for women and girls, and sport and fairness Thanks

Sharon Davies also good, made the point that nobody is trying to ban transwomen from sport, only from categories where it would be unfair.
"Language is important"
(Also, extra points to Dr Ivy for the most uses of c*s in one minute)

fabricstash · 09/04/2022 08:52

@nauticant

Davies concluded with: They [transwomen] won't be excluded from sport though they'll just be excluded from a category where it's not fair.
Yes this is key. Not anti-trans but pro women. Competition has to be fair
ProfessorLayton1 · 09/04/2022 08:53

Fair interview and good to see the trans activists being asked tough appropriate question. Sharon Davies was excellent as usual.

EveSix · 09/04/2022 08:55

NotBad, I also flinched to hear Ivy, but am pleased that Ivy was linked to their previous name, Rachel McKinnon, in case anyone new to the debate should feel inclined to do some background reading.

lovelyweathertoday · 09/04/2022 09:02

Similar to Lavery a few days ago Ivy will be opening people's eyes to the madness. Saying transwomen don't have male bodies was just bizarre.

Followed immediately with a rational argument by Sharron Davies.

More sunlight!

Triotriotrio · 09/04/2022 09:02

I just don't understand how Ivy keeps repeating there is no evidence that transwomen have an advantage. There is loads!! Why does no one point this out.

Sharron was great though!

MarshaBradyo · 09/04/2022 09:03

I felt the same as Sharron listening to previous speaker

I wanted to say no pretty clearly

I’m glad this is changing

doublemonkey · 09/04/2022 09:03

Again with the 'well funded'.

Where's ma fookin funds?? 💰🤲🏻💰😕

I thought this should have been pointed out too, lead with infact

I thought that was an excellent point. Apparently there is a jockey who is a trans woman but it causes no friction in a sport where Rachel Blackmore has shown that she can compete on equal terms with men.

Sharron is very good at explaining things to a general audience who are less familiar with the topic.

doublemonkey · 09/04/2022 09:06

Ivy agueing there is no difference between tw and women based on a legal technicality. Time for the GRC to be revised to remove that loophole.

zanahoria · 09/04/2022 09:08

Also, extra points to Dr Ivy for the most uses of c*s in one minute

It irked me until I twigged half the listeners will not have a clue what it means and just think Ivy is bonkers

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 09/04/2022 09:09

Thanks op that was brilliant. Nick Robinson taking no shit and the wonderful Sharron refuting all the nonsense spouted by Veronica Ivy. It feels like the tide is finally starting to turn and we’re getting to hear from pro-women, pro-fairness now people now and having a proper debate on the radio for all the general public to hear.
I so loved Sharon’s parting conclusion that trans aren’t being banned from sports, we just want fair sports. She’s inspirational. In fact, I had no idea 620 people had signed that letter asking for fairness in womens sports and huge credit for that must surely be due to Sharron. Flowers

zanahoria · 09/04/2022 09:10

She knows sport and she knows the media

Most of all she knows common sense

I misread that cs as c**s at first. Nothing would surprise me at this stage. Hmm
WellNotReally · 09/04/2022 09:12

Rachel McKinnon? The one who wanted women to die in a grease fire? Why do the BBC roll these people out.

ivykaty44 · 09/04/2022 09:12

I’d like to ask why trans woman don’t want their own category?

I think why would a para Olympian want to compete in the olympics? And this photo springs to mind

Could you imagine the uproar if they wanted one catagiry for all Olympic runners

I'm sure Fair Play For Women gave the boiled egg analogy this week in an interview with JHB. I'll try to find it

Dimenw · 09/04/2022 09:13

Ivy explaining how angry they are for all the excluded transwomen. NR asked if Ivy also angry for women who have lost places to tw. Ivy appears unable to hear the word "women" because they did not feature in the reply. All about the trans.

tabbycatstripy · 09/04/2022 09:15

I think the question that wasn’t asked was how reducing testosterone turns a male into a female. That’s what VI was suggesting: a year on hormones has somehow turned Bridges into a female person.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 09/04/2022 09:16

@nauticant

Davies concluded with: They [transwomen] won't be excluded from sport though they'll just be excluded from a category where it's not fair.
Yes! Nailed it. Thank you, Sharron.
VoodooQualities · 09/04/2022 09:17

I was stuck by how Ivy got away with saying 'well funded anti-trans groups' but Davies politely refers to Stonewall and others as 'trans rights activists'.

I bet if she'd called Stonewall a 'well funded anti-woman group' she'd have been called out. Yet no such calling out of Ivy.

HollowTalk · 09/04/2022 09:18

Dr Ivy was exactly like an able-bodied person shrieking in outrage because they can't compete in the paralympics, completely ignoring the fact that they have the olympics. Talk about male entitlement.
