Transwomen advocates for women

I thought it would be good to start a post to see how many Transwomen out there are advocating for womens and childrens rights as opposed to just trans rights. To be clear, I'm not just talking about bloggers - I'm talking about high profile TW who work in charities etc.

I'll have to agree to disagree with y'all on here on whether transwoman is an acceptable term.

MyLittlePhonyPony · 29/03/2022 10:01

No male who uses terminology that deliberately gaslights people into including males within the classification of women can ever really be advocating for women.

Yes, this was what I was saying earlier on but I think you put it more clearly.

It also speaks volumes that one poster used a far more accurate term for clarity, yet was perfectly polite, yet was deleted.

So of course anyone who looks at this thread and sees it will think it was awful transphobia, whereas actually it was trans + acknowledge gender I'd+ actual biological sex. A factual term I would expect to be most useful in medical terms etc.

Obviously with a captured NHS we're too far down the rabbit hole for simple clear terms now.

But it's very telling that new posters are deleted regularly because they don't realise naming material reality is considered offensive.

I know you can't say the word again, but can you give a hint and I'll google it? (not being provocative, genuinely don't know the word you're referring to).

Three words that as an acronym spell a traditional man's name. Like Bob or Jim but not those.

LittleWhingingWoman · 29/03/2022 11:28

So it's interesting that apart from a few people in the public eye, some of whom are also deeply problematic - this thread hasn't been swamped with examples of men who identify as women who advocate strongly for women and children isn't it?

Thank you

@DameHelena, I’ve just messaged you.

Thank you. Why? Confused I can't understand all the cloak and dagger.

MyLittlePhonyPony · 29/03/2022 12:24

Because users get banned permanently for using such terms.

JellySaurus · 29/03/2022 12:27

Because it recognises the fact that it is impossible to actually change sex, and - unlike 'transwoman' - removes any suggestion that the person has done so.

VeryLongBeeeeep · 29/03/2022 12:36

What is good advocacy for women and their rights, from men? How do men act as the kind of allies we want.

IMO it's by stepping back and amplifying women's voices. It's by using whatever contacts and connections they might have to make a space that a woman can fill to talk about the matter at hand. It's correcting their mates' and colleagues' mistaken assumptions and attitudes born from toxic masculinity or everyday sexism, based on what they've learned from actively listening to women speak.

It is not stepping forward and talking over women. It is not taking spaces on platforms and charity boards and events that women could be filling. It is not claiming an experience that is not and can never be theirs. And that holds true whether they're doing those things in a suit or a skirt.

Yes, sorry, I meant it's ridiculous that there has to be all this cloak and dagger stuff/users get banned just for using an acronym.
EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 29/03/2022 12:48

Good post, @VeryLongBeeeeep

And it's so ironic that in this sphere, there are people claiming women's spots on panels and various other events because they assert the primacy of their immersive fiction and others praise them for claiming that.

And thank you for this.

Yes I am still bewildered my post got deleted - I thought I was perfectly kind and respectful and contributing to the discussion, glad to discover now the reason was the inclusion of a three-letter acronym...

serendipitea · 29/03/2022 14:24

PS I even named and was positive about a trans ally to women! And got deleted. Hrmph.

I think we’re both in agreement in suspecting Kristina aligning themselves with women’s rights is all about Kristina’s perception of their status within the movement and nothing about women

Yes.

@Natfemale

Well, I’m bored stiff ( pun intended) with Debbie and Debbie’s stranglehold on commentary on these issues in the right wing press. iMHO, I think Debbie is annoyed that Debbie’s ground breaking change of identity has been rather overtaken and subsumed in the wave on wave of other people of the first declension identifying differently . So Debbie is a) currying favour with those people who still have a vague awareness of biology and b) revenging against those who are trespassing on Debbie’s special status as a person with a particular pathology.

I use Debbie throughout because I don’t want to use gendered pronouns about Debbie etc etc…….

Quite and none of those articles are because Debbie wants to support women, if they did they would do something about that appalling trans education policy they wrote
