Article in the Times today. Labour are looking for new big money donors to help pull themselves out of a slight financial black hole.

"Labour’s new fundraising drive comes after its ruling national executive committee (NEC) was given a “bleak” financial briefing in July last year, which revealed the party had ended 2020 with an unplanned deficit for the first time since 2006."

...

"Party membership has also fallen by more than 100,000 to just over 400,000 since Starmer took office, although insiders say Labour has recorded a “mini-surge” in recent months following the scandal over Boris Johnson’s involvement in lockdown parties."

Lots of comments. Top ones all about the fact that labour can't tell what a woman is.

I believe JK Rowling used to be a big Labour donor.

Oh well.

Theunamedcat · 27/03/2022 15:10

You reap what you sow deny 50% of the population your going to lose

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 27/03/2022 15:12

@OvaHere

I believe JK Rowling used to be a big Labour donor.

Oh well.

Labour are so dumb
SirSamVimesCityWatch · 27/03/2022 15:13

Yes that is mentioned in one of the comments. I think she was a donor during the Brown years, not 100% certain on those timings though.

I wonder if anyone at Labour HQ is allowing themselves to connect the dots between their dramatically reduced membership and £, and their slide into identify politics and appeasement of the far left factions of the party / student politics?

I wish they'd give themselves a shake and come back into the centre-left, admit we all know what a woman is, and grow the fuck up. Then I might have someone to vote for again.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 27/03/2022 15:13

Quelle surprise . They have let women down badly. I'll never trust Starmer.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 27/03/2022 15:31

Serves the Labour Party right.

Rubidium · 27/03/2022 15:44

An article from today's Grauniad about the uselessness of Starmer and Labour in general:
www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/mar/27/keir-starmer-party-opposition-election-labour#comments

Unusually, the Guardian is allowing comments, and there are a couple discussing Labour's inability to define what a woman is and that this might be a problem.

Good. Motherfuckers.

Eyesofdisarray · 27/03/2022 15:58

Good

Yeah I have to admit this was my initial reaction as well Grin

Its rage inducing.

Just screw your heads on right and they could really do this.

I mean Boris virtually handed it to them on a platter and they wont be able to capitalise.

I agree.
TeiTetua · 27/03/2022 16:29

I mean Boris virtually handed it to them on a platter and they wont be able to capitalise.

You could say that, or you could say "Keir is handing domination of politics to the Tories on a platter, so they don't have to offer much in order to win."

It's as if each party is daring us to vote for the other side, but so far it's Labour that people are being repelled by the most.

(And really it's not totally Starmer's fault. Labour just can't shake off the ideologues who'd rather be pure than accomplish anything. In fact they probably like it better--the practical details of running the country would get in the way of their lovely theories.)

yeah, this. Corbyn was their king

these people HATE Blair. He was practical and he was a winner. two things that are anathema to them.

if it wasn't pretending some men are women, they'd find another way to prove how pure and better they are and render themselves unvoteable for. While they hold the whip hand, Labour will never be in power

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 27/03/2022 16:35

(I am a labour party member by the way. I firmly believe without 2 strong parties we're fucked and I'm prepared to put my money where my mouth is. can't vote for them of course....)

Beamur · 27/03/2022 16:36

Labour are repelling me rather than the Tories are appealing to me.
I'm sure there will be lots of reasons for this but their stance on women's rights must have lost them a fair few members

AlisonDonut · 27/03/2022 16:37

It isnt just the lack of knowing what females are, imagine if Lisa Nandy became Prisons Minister?

No thank you.

ControversialOpening · 27/03/2022 16:50

Oh no!

… wait, hang on, they don’t give a shit about women. Why should I care?

Since Harold Wilson resigned UK elections have been;

Tory; Tory; Tory; Tory; Blair; Blair; Blair; Tory; Tory; Tory; Tory

You’d think the Labour Party would be able to look at those results and come to a few realisations.
I honestly think a lot of the Labour Party don’t want power - just as Sturgeon doesn’t want Scottish independence - they’d farther be ‘right’ and ‘pure’ than actually do any work governing.

VelvetChairGirl · 27/03/2022 17:23

they will probably run to some American trans lobbyist with their cap out and make themselves even more unelectable.

Snoozer11 · 27/03/2022 17:23

Just had my commenting privileges permanently taken away from me by The Guardian, because I said someone who doesn't know what a woman is shouldn't win an election.

You must believe a baseless ideology, or else.

PronounssheRa · 27/03/2022 17:34

It could get bleaker, members are taking legal action after the huge data leak news.sky.com/story/labour-party-supporters-details-affected-by-cyber-security-breach-12458935

That just demonstrates the techniques used by supporters of this ideology. It's based on nonsense but enforced by threats and bullying.

Good. Motherfuckers.
Ahem, I think you will find that is birth person fuckers. Bigot 😉
WarriorN · 27/03/2022 18:36

Well if Labour are struggling surely the greens are too with a couple of looming litigations.

Ffs, more Tory years ahead :( bar the seemingly positive impact on gender ideology of course.
