Article in the Times today. Labour are looking for new big money donors to help pull themselves out of a slight financial black hole.

"Labour’s new fundraising drive comes after its ruling national executive committee (NEC) was given a “bleak” financial briefing in July last year, which revealed the party had ended 2020 with an unplanned deficit for the first time since 2006."

...

"Party membership has also fallen by more than 100,000 to just over 400,000 since Starmer took office, although insiders say Labour has recorded a “mini-surge” in recent months following the scandal over Boris Johnson’s involvement in lockdown parties."

Lots of comments. Top ones all about the fact that labour can't tell what a woman is.

“It’s quite hard to get people, who have the amounts of money that might be useful to a political party, to donate when you say you want to abolish capitalism.”

"... party finances were in a parlous state due to ... a bloated workforce throughout Corbyn’s tenure; and alleged “vanity projects” under his leadership. ...Party membership has also fallen by more than 100,000 to just over 400,000 since Starmer took office ..."

Sounds to me like Corbyn brought the money in with the increased membership, then pissed it up the wall.

I had high hopes of CorbynSad. I thought, here is a man who should be a good MP since he's been re-elected so often, who has been outside the leadership all this time and so is beholden to no-one's vested interests. This could rejuvenate the Party. Fuck me, am I naive or what?

And then 20% of those subs-payers quit and they're back in the financial shit. And instead of asking why all those people left the party, they're going to try and schmooze the rich. So grassroots!

I really want there to be a viable Labour Party. But fucking over 51% of the population is just not viable.
