Hi, trying to connect to other GC’s in the US. Just to have an idea of what’s happening. I see tons of GC stuff on Twitter from UK women but little from US women. I’m currently in North Carolina but live normally in Texas (Fort Worth). I don’t know anyone in North Carolina (Southern Pines) and feel very powerless! I have no organization I’m just attempting to connect so we can attempt to be somewhere as awesome as our UK counterparts.

I just joined Wolf and am checking out Ovarit. I do wish there was a large scale forum for heretic witches like Mumsnet in the US. I now know more about the UK law than I do about the US.

Is anyone else pissed about how House Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats are calling Republican Governor DeSantis’ Florida bill the “Don’t Say Gay” bill? It’s so intentionally misleading.

The bill limits classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity from children ages 4-8. He wants to pull back the curriculum curtain and give parents a say in what teachers are teaching their very young children. How is this controversial in any way? Children this young don’t need to be sexualized. Let them be kids for a few years, bloody hell. (Love saying ‘bloody’ here.)

We then had Florida Democrats childishly marching around the state capital screaming “GAY GAY GAY.” Senate Democrats are tweeting “GAY.” Settle the fuck down.

The bill just doesn’t want the adults in charge to sexualize your toddlers and small children, also while telling them it’s okay to not tell their parents. Because telling children to keep secrets about their sexuality from their parents is always a fabulous idea.

I know many democrats who feel the same as I do on many of these issues. This is definitely becoming a bipartisan issue. Unfortunately the Biden Democrat agenda and most of the left-leaning US media have chosen this woke hill to die on.

Whew, vent over.

Snoodsy nobody really understands the US law partly because I suppose it differs by state and nobody in the UK really understands the whole representatives/senate/electoral college etc, and nobody in the US is allowed to talk about it.

Plus it's very expensive to live in California - state taxes, local sales taxes, cost of property/real estate, college fees...

University of California in-state cost of attendance is excellent value.

However, U Texas in-state COA is also good value and no income tax.

But - there are state taxes, local taxes, property taxes, state income taxes, federal income taxes, county taxes, local charges for services like water and garbage disposal, and high housing prices almost everywhere people would want to live.

There are nine states where there is no state personal income tax. All have their attractions, but also drawbacks, and not everyone is able to up sticks and move from California to New Hampshire or Tennessee, and not everyone wants to move to Wyoming, Alaska, or Florida.
