www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10641645/Sharron-Davies-blasts-Labour-MP-dismissing-lazy-criticism-row-trans-swimmer.html

"Anyone nastily trying to diminish Lia Thomas's incredible achievement because of lazy transphobia should frankly pipe down. Huge congratulations to her.'"

Well, I'm convinced. I'm packing up my women's rights and fucking off into the glorious new world.

Pipe down you bigots!
@PronounssheRa good lord, that twitter thread is beyond depressing!
I am pleasantly surprised to find my female Labour MP isn't on that thread. She's a very savvy operator, though. Not a Corbynista but managed to advance during his time as Leader and head off talk of re-selection. She has a massive majority and seems to be doing a good job with her brief. Still not voting for her, though.

Femalewoman · 23/03/2022 09:54

Swan as a man and won then swam as a trans woman and also won against women - no shit, there's a surprise. Sad that this individual thinks it is a fair competition seeing he won the men's race first!

Femalewoman · 23/03/2022 09:54

Swam not swan!

Femalewoman · 23/03/2022 09:57

@Aquafizzle

I've written to her to complain about her complete disregard for women in sport. I'd like to see how long she maintains this line when her female voters walk away. Worth your career Charlotte?
I wish every woman spoke up and told her that woman need a voice too. What is it about some people that trans come first and women second. It's all about the man again, the man's voice as a trans woman.

Talk about miss the zeitgeist bus.

If the sentiment expressed wasn't bad enough, 'pipe down' put the lid on it, and the timing, just when the world is beginning to be outraged, will nail it down.

I've screenshotted every single one of the captioned pics in that Twitter thread. It will come in very handy when Labour start knocking on the door for my vote. The Green candidate looked like they wanted to cry the last time they knocked and that was without pictorial evidence.
I live in a very safe Labour seat so spoiling my ballot won't make any difference but I can't/won't vote for any of the current parties. A century after getting the vote, so many of us are having to actively throw ours away.

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 23/03/2022 10:25

Thick as mince. And completely insulting to all women and girls. Labour really aren't getting it are they?

Nnique · 23/03/2022 10:38

Oh they get it. They just would rather preserve their own interests. They’re more frightened of whoever’s calling the shots than they are of us.

I am from Warrington and spent all yesterday raging about this. We are a very very working class area and no way does this reflect the views of the people that live here. We also have several large ethic communities that will pull girls from sports if their parents think men will be in the changing rooms with them. Charlotte has shown that she has no idea about the people she represents.

She is tweeting bout a man in the US - instead of dealing with actual Warrington issues then dares to say she doesnt have to engage. I don't think she expected the back lash she got last night.

She was also the one that got pissed on a flight and blamed it on medication.

Manchester council also did a dirty trick of a rushing through quick motions that basically throw womens rights under the bus the night before so yesterday was bad day for me.

These idiotic people stamping all over the protections we have spent years gathering with zero thought of the impact it will have on us as women and our girls.

Both warrington and Manchester struggle to get girls in to sports. especially from working class families who some times cannot afford the commitment it takes in competitive sports. I am so angry at these MPs.

If Rosie Duffield suddenly took top spot I would vote labour but for now I will vote Tory to keep these people from making things any worse for women and my kids. I am working class, my family are working class and I will be speaking to them about voting for Tory and doing my best to let them know what Labour are doing. The Tories are no shining example but honestly Labour are evil to me at the moment.

Charlotte telling her labour voting women to 'pipe down' was the last straw for me yesterday. I cant honestly believe my own MP is telling me to shut my mouth. She only won by a margin and so hopefully she wont win again

Lockedoorsopen · 23/03/2022 10:53

ethnic**

TheMarzipanDildo · 23/03/2022 10:56

That’s me told. I’ll get back in the corner and just whimper quietly.

'Charlotte telling her labour voting women to 'pipe down' was the last straw for me yesterday. I cant honestly believe my own MP is telling me to shut my mouth. She only won by a margin and so hopefully she wont win again.'

Arrogant, not fit.

Thewindwhispers · 23/03/2022 11:15

Lia Thomas’ incredible achievement was indeed amazing, not everyone can gaslight the globe into allowing them to cheat on tv and also applauding it.

eurochick · 23/03/2022 11:20

Pipe down? How bloody dare she.

Thelnebriati · 23/03/2022 11:38

I'd like politicians including Charlotte Nichols to go and read the law.
Sports are a sex affected actuivity and both the GRA and Equality Act support single sex sports.

Telling women who object to 'pipe down' may contravene the Equality Act;

Blackberrycream · 23/03/2022 11:54

I saw this thread earlier and placed a watch. Whilst clearly active, it has disappeared from the active listing. I am noticing this more and more hence why I placed a watch. An mp telling people concerned about women’s rights telling people to pipe down should not be hidden which seems to be in effect what is happening. This site needs to take a good, hard look at their moderators.

Blackberrycream · 23/03/2022 11:55

Sorry about the lack of proofreading. I am quite irate!

IsThePopeCatholic · 23/03/2022 12:12

Totally agree with all the above criticisms of Charlotte Nichols, but PLEASE don’t vote Tory because of this. Much better to challenge the bigots like Nichols. Let’s not forget Partygate and all the other heinous acts committed by this bunch of corrupt incompetents.

Toseland · 23/03/2022 12:44

I’m thinking now that Labour must have been massively paid off to say these things?

CarbonelCat · 23/03/2022 12:44

I feel incensed by MPs thinking they can speak to the electorate like this.

I was a life long labour voter prior to this issue coming to light. Ben Bradshaw supporting the students at Brighton over the Dr Stock abuse, The ridiculous defence by John McDonnell of Ellie Mae O Hagan's insanity over women in prisons, the treatment of Rosie Duffield, the lack of clarity from Keir Starmer.....this is a single issue vote situation for me and I won't ever be voting labour again.

I'm not going to vote Tory but while Labour have this approach I definitely won't vote Labour either. I had a very good gender critical Green candidate locally at the last general election, but the Green Party generally is iffy. LibDems are a lost cause. Women's Equality Party has a lot of ground to make up before I could consider voting for them. I voted for Count Binface at the last Mayoral election. His manifesto made as much sense as most of the others.

Yep I feel the same. Its as if they think we are all dickheads

But how can we challenge them - they are not listening. There is ONE Labour MP that has challenged this and she was bullied to the point she could attend a conference.
