Who remembers Eddie Vedder?

MadameKali · 16/03/2022 20:50

I'm half wondering if this could be some kind of stunt and during the performance he's going to go "Aha! You fell for my plan to show how my claiming to be a woman is enough to take a place at this festival. I'm sorry to the women who have missed out so that I could highlight misogyny within the arts"
Then I remember all the shit and blatant pisstaking that's gone on lately. I also suspect someone who ultimately wanted to work in the arts wouldn't dare risk doing something like that and ruin their career before it began. Like a PP I also googled Alexis and there's virtually nothing there so he clearly doesn't have any kind of presence in his chosen field.

Rhannion · 16/03/2022 20:56

They don’t have us down, this is giving more exposure, more sunlight on the bullshit.

littlbrowndog · 16/03/2022 20:59

The dude trolling. Loving how every organisation can fall for this
Bet he’s sniggering in his house thinking how stupid women are

Strutting his poetice stuff.

Look at me I can do what I want 🤦‍♀️

SunniDelite · 16/03/2022 21:22

It just seems deliberately provocative, like the Vagina Museum celebrating transwomen on IWD. It's like they're gloating.... (whoever "they" are, I don't know any more. A lot of fellow women, I fear)

Herstory is a partnership between Poet in the City, the British Library, Newcastle Libraries, and Libraries Unlimited Exeter. It is inspired by the British Library exhibition Unfinished Business: The Fight for Women's Rights and is the latest project in Poet in the City and the British Library’s ongoing Collections in Verse collaboration.

Gumbomambo · 16/03/2022 21:45

It’s just ridiculous how can anyone think this is ok?

Gumbomambo · 16/03/2022 21:46

And this.

Another man taking a woman's place.....
Degreeincodology · 16/03/2022 21:47

OK...so that's clearly a man... cheeky fucker

CharlieParley · 16/03/2022 21:47

focuses on exploring the socio-political boundaries of gender, sexuality and intimacy

Apart from everything else, this does not fill me with confidence. Such "socio-political" (rather than personal) boundaries are typically concerned with things like age of consent, prostitution, violent pornography, the death by rough sex defense, or crimes like rape by deception, voyeurism, public exposure, child abuse etc. Previous experience now makes me view such topics with well-founded suspicion that it'll be yet another breaking down of the norms society depends on to keep people, especially vulnerable people, safe.

Degreeincodology · 16/03/2022 21:49

We are at peak bullshit

Rhannion · 16/03/2022 21:51

Well we could all buy tickets for his bullshit and not turn up...

Bloody loved Pearl Jam, the band, not whatever it actually might be.

I think this chancer I do not love.

Joystir59 · 17/03/2022 01:42

Herstory my arse!

SpidersAreShitheads · 17/03/2022 03:17

I've retweeted it. The more we share this absolute bollocks, the more people might start to realise how far down the rabbit hole we've gone.

I firmly believe that the majority of people just want to be kind, and don't really believe that men actually ARE women just because they say they are. But they're now at the point where they don't feel they can speak up.

The more publicity batshit stuff like this gets, the better chance there is of people starting to speak out against it.

A man telling women what it's like to be a woman. Like we don't know. Like it's not OUR ACTUAL LIVES. And we need a man to tell us. Fucking hell.

EdithStourton · 17/03/2022 06:31

So you don't even have to try to look like a woman now? Just grow your hair out, tilt your head, and talk about feelz?

Fuck sake

We are at peak bullshit
Agree
EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 17/03/2022 06:46

@Degreeincodology

We are at peak bullshit
We are nowhere near peak.

We've seen nothing yet.

The fashion shows will soon give up all pretence of designing for women and feature the people whom they'd been designing for all along. The fashion magazines will fall in line because it's not as if they haven't been pushing unrealistic standards and feeding into women's dissatisfaction with their bodies all along.

Riverlee · 17/03/2022 06:54

If they don’t like the word ‘his’story, then they shouldn’t use ‘her’story, as that still contains a gender. Surely it should be ‘their’ or s/he or s/his -Tory etc.

Somanysocks · 17/03/2022 07:06

"I will still break your face"

Showing of his maleness there. Definitely a man (boy).

yourlegmyleg · 17/03/2022 07:08

My 4 year old DS just said "He looks funny mummy doesn't he?". Yes, yes HE does.
