I joined Twitter a couple of days ago, just to lurk and read links from Mumsnet. I found the account of a man that I know. I knew his friendship group is generally TWAW (gamers, cosplay, geeks, etc) but I was so shocked at the vitriol addressed to TERFS and JKR in particular. I have to see this person socially sometimes, because of family, but I can't get over how much he detests me (for I am TERF and proud)
Not sure what this post is for really. Maybe just to see if other people are horrified by what they see coming from otherwise "normal" individuals?

There isn't a man alive who really believes a penis can belong to a woman, or that all the sissy and forced feminisation porn online has been created by evil middle aged women, to trick people into not believing the lovely, late transitioning person. That kink has nothing to do with any of this.

That's what women are up against.

A friend went on a rant about 'JKKK Rowling' this week. He's a performer with a small, devoted following of gamers and geeks. He's straight but open-minded and prides himself on his kindness and empathy to others. It's not performative, he's a decent bloke.

So not even attempting to listen to women when they talk about the conflict here is a massive blind spot that doesn't compute with the hippy 'nice guy'. If I challenged him on it like pp suggested, I'd have hundreds of his like-minded followers calling me out as a bigot and I'd probably lose a lot of mutual friends. I really wonder what they can't (or won't) see.

I can't remember exactly what "scandal" they were commenting on (KS cervix gate?) on radio 4 pm, possibly with Evan Davis last autumn, but the way they discussed the "heat of the debate" was to bring in a professor or academic who basically said twitter is the main problem.

As Penny took the side of a serial sex offender over the teenage girl the serial sex offender flashed a semi erect penis at (in fact blaming her for ‘staring at peoples genitals’) I don’t have a huge amount of sympathy for they/them and their alleged trauma as they/them don’t appear to consider anyone else’s trauma important - including women and girls who have been sexually assaulted.

They/them doubled down on this with their idiotic and entirely mendacious comments about TWs/rapists/single sex spaces when there is a LONG list of:

• Men who have used deception/disguise to predate/attack/rape/assault women and girls including dressing up as women/‘identifying’ as women

• TWs who predate/assault/rape/coerce/groom women and girls and use their access to female spaces to do so

• Male rapists, murderers and abusers who have suddenly identified as ‘trans’ to game the system and get access to vulnerable women in prison (and gone on to rape/assault them)

• Men attacking/assaulting/raping/exposing themselves/filming/photographing women and girls in mixed sex areas from toilets to changing rooms and showers, everywhere from supermarkets to spas, gyms/yoga centres/pools/leisure centres

• TWs photographing and videoing themselves masturbating in women’s toilets when women and children are around

• TRAs who campaign to remove single sex provision and safeguarding being revealed to be paedophiles/abusers

They/them lie all the time to suit themselves and continue to throw women and girls identities, rights and safety under a bus to validate TW.

They/them can go fuck they/themselves quite frankly. They/their book is embarrassingly shit and people are rightly saying so. Boo fucking hoo.

Anyway, it's so frightening coming across it isn't it? I try to take it with a large pinch of salt in that most people posting aggressive things online are probably polite enough in their daily lives and many will be teenagers putting on a front for fun and finding their feet in an overwhelming world where they don't feel they have very much power. But it's still chilling and some days it really gets under my skin if I see too much of it. Twitter is a cesspit
