Today, on International Womens Day, it's been rather depressing seeing all manner of organisations throw in a quick lip service tweet, only to be pulled up by that bot on their sex pay gaps. Then a vagina museum essentially goad women by doing a big thread about celebrating some people that don't have vaginas. A police force pissing off women too, and then removing the tweet with a post telling us all to "be kind". The hashtag that popped up in the middle of the day, telling women what the right kind of feminism is: the intersectional aka everyone kind.

Basically the general shite we've all come to expect because we can't have one flipping day to ourselves.

So, I would like to say, thank fuck for JK Rowling. Who has stormed in from yesterday and continued today at her magnificent, no holds barred and no shits given best. It's made it an IWD to remember.

That is all. Happy IWD Grin

I really didn't think I could love and admire her any more than I did. Turns out I can! JKR has made IWD for me this year.
She's a total queen.
Thank you Jo Flowers Gin

Tiphaine · 08/03/2022 22:16

@Timefortea4

Absolute Queen. Thank you JKR. In the midst of this terrible mess you make my heart soar 💕

Completely agree. She's actually awesome. And her timing, after enduring the annual cock-haver-inclusion-fest that IWD has become in recent years, is perfect.

FannyCann · 08/03/2022 22:18

She's such an example to all those other celebrities who stay quiet or worse join in with the two minute hate.
I couldn't admire her more.

Also she was lovely to my two girls when they were a lot younger and we saw her sitting writing in the cafe of the Scottish National Gallery.
I'd fling myself to the floor and kiss her shoes if I saw her now! 🤩🤩🤩

AnnesBrokenSlate · 08/03/2022 22:19

Her response to Annelise asking how she would uplift women when she couldn't even describe what one was ... made me laugh so much Grin

JK is fab. She is brave and fearless and she must wonder what on earth has possessed all the Labour grandees and Scottish creatives that she used to spend time with ... and who have now forgotten basic biology. It must be quite isolating but she undaunted. She's impressive. And I particularly like that she isn't getting bogged down in party politics about it. She's on the side of women. She's a star.

DorotheaDiamond · 08/03/2022 22:20

Go Jo!

I actually commented to dh/dd earlier that she’s obviously finally losing her temper…. All credit to her for keeping it so long!

And just in case anyone doesn’t know she is matching donations to lumos for Ukraine at the moment

Artichokeleaves · 08/03/2022 22:21

Fabulous woman!

And yes, bloody love the demand to know if Annelise plans to lift up random objects since she apparently doesn't know what it is that she's waffling about lifting up.....

Grin
Rainbowshit · 08/03/2022 22:24

She's absolutely had enough hasn't she. Go Jo!!!!🤍💚💜

RestedDevelopment · 08/03/2022 22:24

Thank you JKR from me too.

Good to discover amongst the relentless exhausting bs from this shower, that a good solid and uplifting belly laugh is still to be had.

I also liked the comment in replies that we’re gonna need a bigger hill Grin

As someone who recently found many advertised ‘women’s’ support orgs ‘disapproving’ that I have the audacity to need single sex spaces/services to recover from male violence (I’m having to self-exclude because that’s draining all on its own)..

I truly needed to be reminded that I wasn’t alone, that other women do understand and are steadfast in their support of each other and this hill of our rights and child protection is the hill we’ll make our stand on.

Thank you Flowers

Furx · 08/03/2022 22:25

Thank you Jk. We appreciate it.

Lessyuck · 08/03/2022 22:27

Fuck yes

Thanks to the posters who screenshotted Twitter.

Porfre · 08/03/2022 22:28

Finally someone said what needed saying.

Imagine being unable to define "woman" on International Women's Day, of all days.

Just give us one day when it's not about everyone else. Just women.

littlbrowndog · 08/03/2022 22:30

Omg she’s fucking ripping it tonight. That’s a Scottish woman who’s had enough

JKR on Twitter, a thank you.
TheUsualShitshow · 08/03/2022 22:30

She so isn't going down though.

The tide has turned more than enough, you can see it in our boldness. A few years ago we wouldn't have been able to say half of what we do now. She's a big part of the revolution.

nocoolnamesleft · 08/03/2022 22:31

Magnificent woman.

weebarra · 08/03/2022 22:33

Hasn't she been awesome (in the truest sense of the word today)?
Like an angel with a fiery sword, on her hill!

Deeq · 08/03/2022 22:34

The world feels utterly fucked... but there's light and joy at the end of today. Glorious woman.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 08/03/2022 22:34

I feel the need to write a second thank you letter now that she’s run out of fucks to give.

Iwishihadariver · 08/03/2022 22:34

Thank you JKRowling for making IWD for me today. So proud of your fight for women 💪❤. Ta! x

Hasselhoffsheadband · 08/03/2022 22:36

I literally fucking LOVE her! I love that she won't back down, I love that the misogynists can't get their head around how she has refused to be silenced, I love how she has no fucks left to give!

She is just the best! ❤❤❤

DialSquare · 08/03/2022 22:37

Shes amazing. Even my partner commented on her being on fire the last couple of days. She really hasn't got any patience for the bollocks behind this ideology. Keep it up Jo. You amazing, witty, generous, inspiring woman. IWD was invented for women like you.

Duchessfloofy · 08/03/2022 22:39

What an absolute queen . I love her even more and I loved her before. A fearless warrior ! No fucks given at all . Thank you JK !💖✊

Whereareyourshoes · 08/03/2022 22:41

JKR is absolutely incredible. So much love for her.

bonfireheart · 08/03/2022 22:41

I'd love for her to do a real honest interview with a good interviewer, I'd pay to sit in the audience and giving her a standing ovation.

BraveBananaBadge · 08/03/2022 22:42

She is so, so wonderful. Watching her this week has been really amazing. Her gravitas is so, so important. She weighs up everything just right. She never punches down, or makes it personal, and lifts us all up with her.

Thank you JKR Thanks

ThePennyJustDropped · 08/03/2022 22:44

She's so inspirational.

I specially love how the TRAs keep tagging and retweeting her saying how bigoted she is, whilst blindly overlooking the fact that hundreds of thousands of people are agreeing with her
