This person/man needs to go to a man's prison as not safe for women if he goes to a female only prison. They need to either change this or have transgender prison. I admire the optimism but I must express concern that this optimism extends to joining the Army Reserve as I'd be very unhappy if the forces were to recruit someone with such a recent history of sex offences. I would also have some concerns about interleaving the physical demands of being a reservist with the recovery that would be involved with reassignment surgeries.

The difficulty the reporter will have had is that the defendant will have been referred to as ‘she/her’ throughout the court hearing, and reporters are obliged to report accurately what’s said in court.
I actually think they have done their best to make the position clear by choosing the quotes they have.
