Just because I know there are some fans here!

Amazon has the hardcover book at 50% off... so £12.50 rather than £25, plus free delivery on release day. 30th August.

944 pages!

Pretty excited myself.

I know JK has really started to carve out a feminist identity for Robin which I love.

Fab! Thanks OP

@PostThenGhost

Brilliant!

I can’t watch them though. The strike I have in my head would be ruined. I’ve seen a clip and that was enough.

Nooooo he’s so so good. Promise.
HairyPotter · 14/02/2022 22:12

Thanks, I’ve pre ordered on Audible.

I would agree normally but the adaptations are actually very true to the spirit of the books and the casting has been done very well.

Good news. I am trying to remember if I've already pre-ordered this. This happened once before and we ended up with two copies (one of the Harry Potter books, came in handy actually, cut down the waiting time as there were three of us in the house who wanted to read the latest instalment).

@GreenTeaPingPong

Oh, great thank you! When is the TV series of Troubled Blood coming out, anyone know?
They are filming it just now, so maybe end of the year?
littlbrowndog · 14/02/2022 22:16

So skint at moment. Will wait till it comes into charity shops.

Bloody gas prices and petrol prices. Killing me

littlbrowndog · 14/02/2022 22:18

Gawd am whining. 🤣🤣🤣

Shut up me

MiladyBerserko · 14/02/2022 22:18

Much as I like the Strike books (and being the main character, of course), but, why would I pre order six months in advance, especially for the Audible version?

blanketyblanked · 14/02/2022 22:31

Love these books!

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 14/02/2022 22:44

littl Check whether your local library usually gets ebooks of the Strike books. That's how I get hold of popular books when there is a huge waiting list at the library.

FedUpWithBriiiiick · 14/02/2022 22:47

Thanks for the tip! Ordered.

littlbrowndog · 14/02/2022 22:58

Will do. I have a kindle

Doyouthinkeirsaurus · 15/02/2022 01:27

Purgatory Thank you to the link for the collection so far, I have ordered it. (Fingers crossed the quality of the books is ok, sometimes boxed sets are horrible cheap versions, she says, aware that they are cheap and sounding like a book snob)
I do like Hive, I’ve ordered several books from them and they’ve always been fab.

JKRfan · 15/02/2022 01:31

Just pre-ordered for my Kindle.

Barbarantia · 15/02/2022 02:23

Gosh I'm glad you said it @littlbrowndog! I'm salivating at the box set from hive and really jealous of those who can pre-order.
My time will come!

Will be in the library - hardback or ebook most likely!
PurgatoryOfPotholes · 15/02/2022 07:55

Blackwells are out-competing hive now. Shock

Wish I'd checked there before, and I am sorry for letting you all down yesterday.

blackwells.co.uk/bookshop/product/The-Strike-Collection-by-Robert-Galbraith-Robert-Galbraith/9780751584479 £30.62 and they have a loyalty card scheme.

I got them all (except for Troubled Blood, which had a waiting list of over 50 people for the print copy!) from the library last year, because there wasn't a waiting list for any of them at that point.

yestheyhavethesamedad · 15/02/2022 07:56

Going to see if can get on kindle , i love a physical book , but want it for my holiday in september , and if its a proper doorstop then wld rather not have the extra weight , will also get the paperback version when its released

LaChanticleer · 15/02/2022 09:58

ooooo ordered!

Although I wish Ms Rowling would edit sometimes. But I love the Strike books - got me through the first lockdown.

Beowulfa · 15/02/2022 10:19

I'm saving Troubled Blood for a ridiculously long coach journey in the summer. Charity shops often have a high turnover of crime novels; I guess a lot of people read and return like me.

KittenKong · 15/02/2022 10:43

I ordered mine from Waterstones for £12.50 (suck on that silly store staff - online ordering cuts out the middle wo/man).

Are kindles good? Or are they like mobile phones (get out of dare quickly)?
Repetitivebeats · 15/02/2022 11:28

@KittenKong I love my Kindle! I got my first (very basic) one in 2012 and it's still functional. I just upgraded to a Paperwhite as I wanted the screen to be backlit.
They are fabulous for travelling - just load them up with books and the battery life is decent.

yestheyhavethesamedad · 15/02/2022 11:40

@KittenKong i have never had problem with my kindle or battery life and is the really old basic one , but also have the kindle app on my phone , and doesnt seem to drain my battery that quickly , just have yo make sure if on phone have downloaded 1st as doesnt always work without internet

AsTreesWalking · 15/02/2022 13:16

Excellent! Ordered through W'stones with a £10 credit, so jolly nearly free!
Now I just have to remember to collect it and not buy it again somewhere else...
