I withdrew my dd from GG in aus a few years ago because of this policy.

They claim to be inclusive of all girls and women regardless of 'gender identity' yet would kick out a girl who identifies as a boy? A girl that most likely would benefit massively from a single sex environment.

Buy yes 'girl' guides now exist to pander to penis and provide validation for male identities.

I can see why they weren’t happy with the way she tweeted at rather than contacted the lawyer through a private channel, but it’s still mad.

This goes against every safeguarding rule. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in making it mixed sex as an org but if you’re supposed to just blindly pretend that it’s not, including on overnight trips, that’s just unworkable.

I almost think the worst bit is booting out girls who think they are boys. That’s the actually horrible bit- having some gender confusion little 10yo girl? Some people might support you but this is girl guides - fuck off then to penis land we won’t touch your boy identifying issues.

I thought thd comments was the weirdest thing. For me it's the .co.uk web address, but I guess it's actually thd Australian paper. The moderators have been taking lessons from the guardian? There's no way the comments wld look like that here.

It's depressing in Australia right now. This, and the recent chaos of the religious discrimination bill that had journalists and politicians talking about trans kids as if they were an orientation exactly the same as gay kids, has highlighted how far behind we are.

You’re so right. The media coverage was a joke with absolutely no critical thinking.

The media did nothing to enlighten people about the debate.

I really wish someone would just stand up and say - we are single sex organisation and welcome all genders - just to get the point across.

She has indeed. Presumably the new regime has been introduced wholly under the radar and now the cat is out of the bag.

I expect it’s fairly straightforward to dismiss a ceo for reputational issues, it’s how all the high profile dismissals go.
