I was always taught "so it is shown" for QED

Policing comments are interesting.
In a normal world I would have hope that the police being opposed to this crap might help but this is SNP world - they kept on at Named Person's despite pretty much every professional body opposing it. They seem to actively seek out crap legislation to spend a fortune on then cost even more in the courts.

ArabellaScott · 30/01/2022 10:50

I think thier "QED" means "we told you so"! - yes, I agree.

Good for FPFW. These police forces in hock to the bullying trans lobby groups are a complete menace. Their bias and embedded misogyny needs exposing.

MBM article here:

murrayblackburnmackenzie.org/2022/01/29/hate-incidents-and-freedom-of-expression/?fbclid=IwAR2JgbhdAXN7zr1R9zVezEh8WgTUUU_rEOLJ0CRxFLtN7lsn7i_T8I4KL4E

'we suggest that Police Scotland establish a specialist team, with a strong handle on the law in relation to freedom of speech, as well as the current debate on sex and gender identity, to screen any reported incidents involving allegations where criminality and/or prejudice are not clear.'

'In February 2020, Police Scotland told the Times newspaper: “An offensive joke may be reported by someone, but not amount to any criminality, so we would log this as a hate incident.”'

'in failing to clarify what is abusive in relation to sex and gender identity, MSPs have given added impetus to unfounded or vexatious complaints. This situation, which is felt at the early stages of the criminal justice process, is likely to be compounded when the Act comes into force, and can be expected to reinforce the self-censorship and institutional caution that is already evident in this area.'

Comments definitely open now... and overwhelming support Nicola Murray and Brodie’s Trust

Rhannion · 30/01/2022 20:40

Two excellent women called Nicola involved in this appalling situation and another Nicola who despite being “ feminist to her finger tips” is a bloody disgrace and a embarrassment to Scotland.

DdraigGoch · 30/01/2022 21:53

@IncompleteSenten

I think the police force has a shockingly high number of abusive misogynistic wankers who are just loving the opportunities to harass women.
From what the detectives were quoted as saying, it sounds like they thought that it was a waste of their time.

The real problem in my view is that senior officers are more interested in building their own careers and don't care who gets trampled in their rush.

Roddy Dunlop, one of Scotland leading QCs, is raising concerns

Someone on twitter says that MW's twitter has been deleted?

Nichola has tweeted that she's getting a huge amount of bombardment from the press, including inappropriate friend requests.

WarriorN · 31/01/2022 08:48

"Boundaries people"

Absolutely

This is such a weird story. I hope big things come of it.
Strength to Nicola's elbow.

CoupDeGrass · 01/02/2022 09:44

do they even write 'QED' in maths anymore???

No. Generally a little box is used instead, like this: □

TheCurrywurstPrion · 01/02/2022 10:25

I am unable to see either of the articles in the Times. Both links send me to screens that say the articles have been removed. Does anyone know what is happening?

BettyFilous · 01/02/2022 11:59

The disappearance of the Times articles last night is being discussed on this thread, with screenshots: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4468324-Police-Scotland-accused-of-bias-in-battle-over-transgender-rights?pg=1

ScreamingMeMe · 02/02/2022 09:01

I'm sorry but I think there is something deeply wrong with someone who could report this to the police. It horrifies me that they are in a top level position in looking after vulnerable women, it properly gives me the chills.

There was a concerning message by Brodie's trust on fb.

It sounds like Murray has been harassed by both reporters and others. Details of her home leaked etc. I wonder if that's why the report has been pulled

ScreamingMeMe · 02/02/2022 09:54

That's awful Warrior.

Helleofabore · 02/02/2022 10:05

ScreamingMeMe

It says everything about MW though doesn’t it. That is a male who cannot stand it when women say no. Since that first interview describing the power they felt over distressed women seeking aid to feed their families, this person has shown themselves.

It is clear when you see the pattern but somehow those make decisions to keep this person in position cannot see the trees for the woods.

For sure.

This is a woman, a mother, running a tiny charity to help women suffering miscarriage after domestic violence.

And someone who is in a very prestigious and cushy job supposedly to help support and care for the victims of rape and violence REPORTS HER TO THE POLICE?

Meggie48 · 02/02/2022 10:19

Took longer to come than we expected but the 1984 thought police are here

Other issues aside, this is the difference between grassroots women/feminists and professional women/feminists in a nutshell.

OperationDessertStorm · 02/02/2022 10:39

We know domestic violence is predominantly male on female. We know miscarriage is 100% a female only life event. We know around 1 in 4 pregnancies naturally end in miscarriage. We know DV often starts during pregnancy. We know around 80% of single parents families are headed by mothers (with all the economic and social disadvantages that come with that).

What sort of miscreant attacks a charity that specifically supports women in this heartbreaking situation? Pick your fucking battles ffs. And maybe get some PR guru to teach you how to read the room.

aliasundercover · 02/02/2022 11:01

MW reported it?

I must have missed that bit. Is there evidence to support this?
