How about all the groups, Nancy? Why not women?

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2022 22:11
  • I thought 'rights aren't pie' - if there's no conflict and we can all have all the rights we want then what's your problem, Nancy?
Abhannmor · 26/01/2022 22:29

Will this put a stop to their gallop ?

musicalfrog · 26/01/2022 22:37

What will it take for the NHS and the various voluntary organisations to rethink their alliance with this ideology that has no definable terms or grounds?

Selkiesarereal · 26/01/2022 22:52

Wow, was not expecting this, maybe we actually have a chance that GRA will be pushed into the long grass and we women in Scotland stand a chance of retaining the hard one protections we have.

OperationDessertStorm · 26/01/2022 22:56

@ArabellaScott

- I thought 'rights aren't pie' - if there's no conflict and we can all have all the rights we want then what's your problem, Nancy?
Nancy there changing the ingredients of the pie, pulling the pie into her chest, licking it, marking all the bits she wants with her spoon, calling everyone else greedy and then graciously offering pie to anyone wants to share and getting cross when teacher finally realised what she’s up too.
Lifeinthelastlane · 27/01/2022 07:04

Thanks for the share token

JustSpeculation · 27/01/2022 07:26

@delurkasaurus

Why is the LGBT Foundation writing to Mike Freer? Isn't Kemi Badenoch the Minister for Equalities?
Badenoch is Minister of State at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. Freer is Minister for Equalities. Didn't Liz Truss keep that brief when she became Foreign Secretary?
Sophoclesthefox · 27/01/2022 07:27

@ArabellaScott

Exactly! If there’s no conflict, then there’s no picking and choosing, is there?

Nancy forgetting again that there are NINE protected characteristics, none of which is ”gender identity “,and none of which outrank each other. The EHRC have carefully spelt out what, in their expert opinion, balancing those rights looks like, and it is very instructive to see what the reaction to that is.

Hoardasurass · 27/01/2022 08:03

I really hope that this stops sturgeon from destroying women's rights in Scotland but I seriously doubt that she will take any notice and just steam ahead with it.
What I do suspect is that this is the UK government setting up there case to take the Scottish government to court over this (just like they did with the UN rights of the child) as the equality act is reserved legislation and if the Scottish government GRA reform impacts on the equality act that would not be legal and would be struck down 🤞

highame · 27/01/2022 08:29

Could well be Hoardasurass and given Baroness Falkner has said they are going to be producing single sex guidance and recognise the lack of definition in certain areas which they will make more specific will be very welcome. If Sturgeon bounds ahead before those definitions hit mainstream, she will look very silly, having to back track, when she is aware she is on thin ice regarding GRA reform.

[quote OvaHere]Nancy Kelley's hot take. There aren't enough face palms in the world for this.

Replies switched off of course but the quote tweets are worth reading.

This made me laugh! Loving the pie analogies, too.

nauticant · 27/01/2022 08:33

Now being covered on the Today programme on Radio 4.

KittenKong · 27/01/2022 08:34

Angry SNP… do they even know what they are arguing about?

KittenKong · 27/01/2022 08:35

This woman is talking mince. Is she a kiwi? Can’t quite place the accent.

SelfPortraitWithPterodactyl · 27/01/2022 08:35

PUUUUUULLLLL! Grin

KittenKong · 27/01/2022 08:35

Not competing rights? NOT competing?? She won’t even listen.

KittenKong · 27/01/2022 08:36

‘To hell with you’ - yup he has mailed it! C’mon… mention the womens groups they just haven’t even bothered to engage with.

highame · 27/01/2022 08:37

I just wonder if Sturgeon is using this to push at UK law. If she is successful with GRA reform, then she will have a go at other legislation. She is known for pushing at anything to separate Scotland

WarriorN · 27/01/2022 08:37

Can I check, were the results of the consultations published?

OP posts:
KittenKong · 27/01/2022 08:37

Try to reassure… not just plough on…

She is full of c*. The reforms proposed don’t affect the equality act? She hasn’t a clue…
