Just received this by email from Graham.

@LilithOfEden

My guess is H is a legal exec rather than a solicitor. The former would be deemed to be a "lawyer" and therefore an "officer of the court, "as all lawyers are.
H isn't a solicitor (not allowed I believe due to a previous conviction), but has a law degree.
ArabellaScott · 25/01/2022 17:55

Great, I'm pleased for you, Glinner. Flowers

LilithOfEden · 25/01/2022 17:57

Having a conviction doesn't necessarily bar someone from practice as a solicitor. I know H committed a violent crime, and actually, you are more likely to be able to carry on/start practicing as a solicitor with an offence of this nature in your history than you are if you have committed a crime of dishonesty, e.g. fraud or theft. Clearly someone has employed H as a conveyancer despite the conviction, although it's unclear what their qualification is.

heathspeedwell · 25/01/2022 17:57

Truly wonderful news. I hope this encourages more people to look into Hayden's character and behaviour.

Mollyollydolly · 25/01/2022 18:00

Well done Graham. What a load of absolute nonsense it all is. Hopefully one day you'll have enough distance from it all to write that dystopian comedy. One day x

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 25/01/2022 18:12

So H#1 knew it was struck out while seemingly giving the impression of supporting H#2 with a tribunal hearing?

Anyone can do conveyancing though - you don't need an SRA registered solicitor.
SamphiretheStickerist · 25/01/2022 18:17

Don't you? I thought it was a legal profession, fully licensed. The Council for Licensed Conveyancers regulates Licensed Conveyancers in the same way yhe SRA does solicitors..

Won’t it be great when we are allowed to look back and laugh at the madness.

Would all the characters fit on Craggy Island?

Glimmer, you are courageous and principled. I am sorry you have had to go through so much shit.

Marylou62 · 25/01/2022 18:29

Just want to say congratulations Glinner...

Rightsraptor · 25/01/2022 18:32

Found this online, sorry no reference, don't know why: 'When you apply to the Law Society, they do have a bit on the form where you explain your convictions (if you have any) which implies that you can, potentially, be a lawyer having been convicted of a crime. Firms also include a section in their application forms for you to disclose your criminal convictions, which again implies you can.'

ShowerOfShite · 25/01/2022 18:41

Great news!

Are you saying you can be a solicitor, with a list of convictions as long as your arm, for crimes of dishonesty and violence?

That sounds worrying.

AssignedBlobbyAtBirth · 25/01/2022 18:46

Money well spent. Fantastic result
Where is BB to tell us off for spending money without permission?

LilithOfEden · 25/01/2022 18:50

I didn't say you did. I'm saying, contrary to your assertion, "H isn't a solicitor (not allowed I believe due to a previous conviction)," that a criminal record does not necessarily bar you from becoming a solicitor.

Also, there's a world of difference between DIY conveyancing, and doing it on a lawyer/client basis and holding oneself out to be regulated, when in fact you are not on the roll of any regulatory body.

DialSquare · 25/01/2022 18:51

BB is currently on the Jennifer Swayne thread telling us all how lucky Jennifer is that she hasn't been treated as badly as more marginalised people.

LilithOfEden · 25/01/2022 18:53

If you have a long list of crimes of dishonesty in your history, you are highly unlikely to be enrolled as a solicitor @Triphazards. However, I have known and worked with solicitors who have committed a one off violent offence and not been struck off.

Rhannion · 25/01/2022 18:57

Congratulations to Glinner ! Thank you for continuing to stand up for women and girls.

Datun · 25/01/2022 19:26

Good. I'm delighted. I might disagree with Graham over his platforming of men with AGP, but he has absolutely gone above and beyond.

I hope he does take it to the end.

Women have long noted that sometimes a torturous, heated, mind blowing, life destroying battle ends up with a damp squib of a victory that does not feel victorious.

So if he wants to go all the way, I'm right behind him.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/01/2022 20:48

Congratulations Glinner Smile

CompleteGinasaur · 25/01/2022 21:02

Absolutely, congrats and thanks for chasing - and continuing to chase - after the meretricious, bullying blowhard.. sorry, the meretricious, bullying trans blowhard.

(Wouldn't want to get deleted for misgendering).

NotBadConsidering · 25/01/2022 21:09

• people speaking truth
• false complaints about transphobia by vexatious claimants Monitors
• punitive action against those posting truth strikes
• subsequent vindication

How many people got a post deleted or a strike or even banned in reference to Hayden? How do those strikes look now in hindsight?

Well done Glinner, you deserve it, and you’ve highlighted the MO, albeit on a micro level compared to what you’ve been through, that we are subjected to on a regular basis here.

PatsArrow · 25/01/2022 23:31

Congrats Glinner 🎉

It'll be so nice to stomp all over the smug Twitter types who leave the BBC news article "Father Ted writer Graham Linehan given harrassment warning" under every mention of you as if it's some kind of gotcha.

They make my eye twitch.
