Thanks @nauticant for the link as I couldn't find it. Absolutely brilliant discussion. So impressed with Sarah Phillamore who I haven't heard of before and Linehan was great as usual. Also kudos to the host. Hosts can make or break discussions. He is a true professional.

BaronMunchausen · 23/01/2022 22:59

If the police are acting unlawfully after the Miller judgement last month, what exactly can be done about it?

Priti Patel has written to police chiefs and the College of Policing, but the police appear to be a law unto themselves and are carrying on regardless.

PenStation · 23/01/2022 23:05

Thank you for sharing, very interesting. Especially appreciated Sarah Phillimore’s clear explanations.

PlinkPlankPlunk · 23/01/2022 23:07

This was a great watch; I wonder what sort of reach it has? The interviewer ( I’ve not seen him before) had a good pace and really got them to cover a lot of ground. Very articulate, both of them

BaronMunchausen · 23/01/2022 23:11

I've checked those prisoner statistics. From Freedom of Information 200615022, released on July 2020 on the government website, Table 2: 'Sexual offences recorded for legally male transgender prisoners identified in the March/April 2019 data collection and sentenced with one or more sexual offences':

Total number of legally male transgender prisoners sentenced for one or more sexual offence --- 74
Total number of legally male transgender prisoners in March/April 2019 --- 129

I make that 57% of legally male transgender prisoners sentenced for one or more sexual offence.

Andrew Doyle is very good. He's behind Titania McGrath and writes some Jonathan Pie material.

A wee google suggests GB evening programmes seem to get viewing figures of around 150,000.

SantaClawsServiette · 23/01/2022 23:30

That was a really good interview. It was interesting to watch the faces of the audience.

Goldshelfie · 23/01/2022 23:36

They were both great, and Andrew Doyle has been good on this subject for a while too.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 23/01/2022 23:36

Glinner mentioned Keep Prisons Single Sex evidence to House of Lords, written by Dr Kate Coleman:

6.3.4 As a group, women in prison are very different to men in prison. Women are more likely to have experienced violence and abuse from men, including sexual abuse, often since childhood. For example:
• Over 30% report a history of sexual abuse
• Almost 60% report experiencing domestic violence
• At 65%, there is a high prevalence of traumatic brain injury, with the majority of these injuries caused by a male partner

Just watching the repeat now on Freeview. Thank you Sarah and Graham. And thank you Andrew Doyle who always discusses this topic intelligently .. I really love Andrew Doyle. There's loads of stuff on GB News I cant stand but I do appreciate their free speech angle and Doyle particularly discusses issues in an intelligent and articulate way.

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/01/2022 00:16

That was a pretty good interview. Not much that can be argued with really. Was fairly easy to follow too so hopefully for those less in the know, it explained what was happening and why in a way you could understand.

It won't go down well for sure.

www.spectator.co.uk/article/are-sex-offenders-exploiting-trans-rights-policies-behind-bars-

According to this recent article, by James Kirkup in the Spectator on 19th January, the most recent statistics available from the Ministry of Justice show that 18% of the men in prison who aren't trans identified, are currently serving time for sexual offences.

Amongst those who identify as transwomen, the percentage jumps to "between 60 and 61.3%". (That's those who don't have a GR certificate, because statistics covering those with a GRC are harder to separate out from the female prison population and are not yet available).

I believe women have been banned from twitter for sharing these official government statistics. Some people feel very strongly that this is information that needs to be kept out of the public sphere.

Oops, sorry about posting that twice. It said it hadn't been sent, then turned up in duplicate.

Just pointing out the owners of GB news (Andrew Cole and Mark Schneider) are borderline fascists who employed a murdoch fox news propagandist as their CEO.

Remember, the enemy of my enemy is a problem for later, not a friend.

The people at GB news would have all the women on this site banned from the internet and forced into the kitchen if they could.

SantaClawsServiette · 24/01/2022 01:41

Yes, I'm sure they all have their wives chained in the kitchen, barefoot. Other than the women of course, after work they chain themselves in the kitchen.

I make that 57% of legally male transgender prisoners sentenced for one or more sexual offence.

The problem with all these stats is that we cannot know the full picture because "Female sex offenders" would includes males with a GRC, ie. males who are not recorded as "transgender" by the MoJ so are excluded from these stats.

So male sex offenders with a GRC bump up the female sex offender stats and the best we can say is that these "male transgender" stats are the bare minimum.

Charley50 · 24/01/2022 03:09

Looking forward to watching this. Why aren't Channel 4 all over this? They've left Stonewall haven't they? Why aren't BBC all over this now that so much clear evidence is available? What is it going to take for women to stop being so disrespected by our national fucking broadcaster? Like women aren't half the fucking nation. It really sickens me that another aspect of this scandal isn't headline news every other day.

FannyCann · 24/01/2022 06:36

Some people feel very strongly that this is information that needs to be kept out of the public sphere.

Thanks for providing the information and helping us all have those handy statistics.

Absolutely appalled that a woman writing to complain/enquire about safeguarding ends up being interviewed by police under caution. Girl guides can't sink much lower after this. I hope people are leaving in droves.

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/01/2022 06:59

Are we back to the perfect source argument again?

The girlguides have abandoned safguarding and seemingly their social media policy too as that was apparently the grounds fir firing the two leaders whi brought this to attention a few years ago.

That remains true no matter who says it.

Stonewall and Co and police also refused to give a statement or interview.

They have no interest in setting the record straight clearly. . What does that tell you

Whatwouldscullydo · 24/01/2022 07:17

I mean if we are going to go down that route, how do you feel about GG implementing policies influenced by someone who has 80 pages of investigation write up declaring them incompetent and incapable of understanding safguarding.

Thats a worry yes?

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 24/01/2022 08:37

Ah, I'd forgotten that - you mean the person who also left the Lib Dems and Greens under a cloud, and then modded Reddit and that appears to have come to a sticky end too?

Who's married to a person who writes fiction about paedophillic fantasies?

Right enough, that person has done a lot of advising - despite not appearing to have much in the way of communication skills or qualifications.
