It's going to be a huge growth area for lawyers, psychiatrists and therapists - unpicking the damage.

Maybe the rats will flee the ship soon.

This is excellent news.

FemaleAndLearning · 23/01/2022 08:39

This sounds good news.

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2022 08:45

Good. It seems particularly in the US to be how the system works.

SirSamuelVimes · 23/01/2022 08:48

Give it ten - fifteen years and there'll be a 'Dopesick' style drama all about this and the same people who call us TERFs and bigots and tell us to be kiiiiiiiiind will be the people wringing their hands about how awful it all is.

MoltenLasagne · 23/01/2022 09:15

Surely they won't have to look far, the class action for Lupron is apparently going to be settled for around $480m. That's for the specific drug rather than the other generic alternatives but it was used to treat precocious puberty, endometriosis as well as gender dysphoria and the side effects are horrifying.

NitroNine · 23/01/2022 09:23

I think The Truth is getting there with its bootlaces SirSamuelVimes - & while I know in reality there is going to be an awful lot fiddly unpicking (out with one type of seamstress & in with another?) I rather yearn for a bit of Roaring Dragon-y Vengeance in a few places. Ideally of the Ancient & Swooping sort; but I’d settle for some Swamp Dragons. Swamp Dragons With Attitude*.

  • Which had better sodding be the name of a band that plays music with rocks in, incidentally…
highame · 23/01/2022 09:29

It's going to take years. We can only hope that, in the meantime, parents, medics and the medical insurance companies have a re-think

DoubleYouOhEmAyEn · 23/01/2022 09:31

The threat of litigation, shame it's got to be that way rather than critical thinking and concern for the health of young people.

Definitely. Have you seen Crime of the Century? I sat watching that in disbelief thinking its the same thing!

From the comments:

Kids with CGD who are put on GnRH analogs before puberty begins or early on in puberty and proceed to cross-sex hormones, which nearly all do, inevitably end up sterile and with loss or complete absence of adult of sexual function. Sterilizing minors and robbing them of sexual function as punishment - oops, I mean "treatment" - for having mental health problems, or because their parents and doctors suspect/fear the kids might be homosexual, or because the kids are autistic or just plain non-conformist, is a major violation of their basic human rights.

This is what it looks like when you remove the ideological lens.

CatherinaJTV · 23/01/2022 10:10

I am sure lawyers see this as a "growth area". I am not sure that is evidence for harm.

WandaWomblesaurus73 · 23/01/2022 10:19

The harm is clear to see. Just read the words of detransitioners and look at the bodies of children who have had their healthy breast tissue cut off.

There's a name for that. Eugenics.

Chiochan · 23/01/2022 10:28

Good, about time. Once the no fee no win 'lawers' smell money it will really change the game.
I wonder if some very high up believer will try to bring in some legislation to imuneise the gender industry from litigation?
It would not surprise me.
That would create another clash of rights and economic culture.

MiladyBerserko · 23/01/2022 10:28

Tick Tock. Start deleting those tweets.

Also, I hope the incarcarated women start taking legal action and all those who have pushed for males to be allowed into female prisons are held to account.

Whatwouldscullydo · 23/01/2022 10:32

And every sports medal, record and title given to the women and girls who earnt them. Is it too much to hope that for the next Olympics the flights etc are actually covered and the wonen and girls competing don't have to try and fund it themselves while watching the men get funded.

Its the very very least they can do

Do you have any more details or a link for this? All I could find was this which seems to be ongoing:

BlueberryCheezecake · 23/01/2022 18:30

Interesting that they seem to be actively advertising, with the promise of money, for people to come forward. If it's such a ripe area for litigation, surely they'd be inundated with unsolicited requests and wouldn't have to lure people in by waving dollar signs in their face.

ArabellaScott · 23/01/2022 18:36

That is how class actions tend to work, Blueberry.

Delphinium20 · 23/01/2022 18:39

Pretty sure the courts will be able to sort out the details for compensation but typically in class action lawsuits it's not about money for individuals rather it's a way to right a wrong committed by the party being sued so no more harm can be done.

highame · 24/01/2022 07:42

Will they (the drug companies) start using a different drug, Lupron isn't the only one, or is it just the worst?

FrancescaContini · 24/01/2022 07:45

Yes, I agree. What damage will have been done in the meantime??

But overall it’s great news.

Those photos I have seen here made me want to weep. They really have no idea what has been done to them, those smiling young people. They’ve been butchered.

Well it's either money or performing sexual favors. Six hundred and thirty-four blow jobs in five days...it would make one really quite tired.
PurplePikachu · 24/01/2022 08:09

The point of advertising is to let people know this one law firm is doing a class action. That way people can go to that law firm knowing that they know about this topic, rather than trying lots of random small firms who may not know much about it. It’s a completely normal way for lawyers to organise class actions.
