what a despicable person standing in parliament trying to deny others their rights under law.

@SurreyPCC

Thank you all, once again, for your support. He in indeed vile and I honestly believe has no idea why what he said is an issue. I have complained to the chief whip. Lisa x
Good! and keep up the fight we are all with you, these people expose themselves as the undemocratic arrogant sods they are, he is own worst enemy and he doesn't even realize it.

Grin I think it's important we send a message that women are watching what MPs do and say on this issue. We're 51% of the electorate and we're not going away! You can ask what your MP has to say about Crispin trying to shut down debate. Thank you. Lisa x
Signalbox · 18/01/2022 20:27

@SurreyPCC

Thank you *@Signalbox* If you are able to, then please write to your MP with your views on Crispin's actions- they need to know we won't accept being silenced and that they'd better not try!
Will do so in the morning. Perhaps my MP could give him a call and attempt to "counsel" him against continuing to "take part in this most contentious of public debates". Honestly what a plonker!
Helleofabore · 18/01/2022 20:52

Thank you again Lisa! FlowersCakeWineGin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/01/2022 21:29

@SurreyPCC Thanks

Whatthechicken · 18/01/2022 21:46

Thank you @SurreyPCC , can’t be easy being at the coal face, you have a legion behind you though.

GoodieMoomin · 18/01/2022 22:13

Fabulous, Lisa you are a star!

Great comments on the article, too

Dinosaurwoman · 19/01/2022 22:11

I really didn’t know Crispin Blunt was behaving like this. I hope this is reported on some more.

AgathaMystery · 19/01/2022 22:34

Thank you Lisa. I will write to my MP.

QuimReaper · 19/01/2022 22:50

I thought crispin blunt was dead and in his nineties Confused

Igmum · 20/01/2022 05:58

Well done Lisa - very well put - reasonable, balanced and fair. I'm also so pleased the author represented your views without feeling the need to apologise for them. Thank you for all that you are doing

WorryMcGee · 20/01/2022 07:20

I live in his constituency. He is an absolute cretinous waste of space who is so safe and comfortable he didn’t even show up to the vote count the last time, he knew the result would be him YET again. People here would vote for a steaming pile of —— if it wore a blue rosette and had “Conservatives” written on it. Aaaaaargh

Blessex · 20/01/2022 07:53

Thank you @SurreyPCC Lisa xxx

Will be writing to my MP this weekend. We are indeed a growing army of women watching this debate. My vote at the any election depends on this.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 20/01/2022 08:11

I believe that Lisa won at least some of her votes on being willing to take part in this debate. Women organised letter-writing to all PCC candidates ahead of the election, to seek their opinions, and then voted accordingly.

So why on earth should Lisa, an actual woman, be quiet when women voted for her because they thought she would speak up, and it is relevant to her actual office?

Why doesn't Blunt counsel himself to be quiet?

AhItsYou · 21/01/2022 00:41

I do enjoy my occasional correspondence with Mr Blunt. I think it's time to dig out quill and ink again.

Has he given any indication, Lisa, on why he "remains absolutely determined to take part in this most contentious of public debates" in the teeth of his own advice to you?

Also, is the text of the complaint he made to the PCP publicly available?

NitroNine · 21/01/2022 09:12

@QuimReaper
Given the donkey situation, are we quite sure that isn’t the case? People are generally convinced Jeremy Bentham gets the tie-breaking vote at UCL Council Meetings & he is significantly-substantially deader than someone you could remember being alive. Hmm

AffIt · 21/01/2022 13:33

...and yet there is a current thread on AIBU with a number of posters vehemently declaring their support for the Tories because 'at least they know what a woman is'.

BarryTheChopper · 21/01/2022 16:04

Unfortunately my MP is Peter Kyle, who is in cahoots with Blunt in terms of trying to sneak in self-ID, along with Lloyd Russell-Moyle. Another unpleasant misogynist.

I’m willing to give it a go though. I wrote to him a few years ago when he said he was still researching the gender debate. He’s nailed his colours to the mast since then, but it would be nice to have a response in black and white to his female constituents.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 21/01/2022 16:40

Er no, they're saying they don't want to vote for Labour for the same reasons that they don't appreciate the machinations of Crispin Blunt MP on this issue. Not the same thing.

LABMAB · 08/03/2022 10:38

I am part of a group that has set up a petition in Crispin Blunt's constituency of Reigate and Banstead asking the council to get Blunt to apologise for his comments on BBC Radio 4 and the press a few weeks back when he said that as most people broke the rules during lockdown, it doesn't matter if Johnson did. Besides it's no more than getting a speeding fine!
We have now got the required 400 signatories but if anyone else wishes to sign, here is the link reigate-banstead.moderngov.co.uk/mgEPetitionListDisplay.aspx?bcr=1

Wow what an absolute prat he is.

Apollo441 · 08/03/2022 11:59

No more than getting a speeding fine?

Tell that to the people who couldn't visit dying loved ones or attend their funerals. Twat.

WorryMcGee · 08/03/2022 12:09

Thanks for sharing @LABMAB, have signed and shared. What a twat. I loathe him.

Signalbox · 09/03/2022 08:32

Lisa updated on this yesterday. Seems that Surrey’s Police and Crime Panel found her tweet not to be ‘dignified or respectful’ and told her to explain herself to the 3 men who complained. I wonder what happens next. I am assuming she can’t be sacked if she is elected.
