Hi all, a girls's school in Watford has decided to not allow transgender pupils to apply in order to keep its single sex status. 2 Days ago, the reader vote had approx 89% votes supporting the school's decision but today that's at 43%. And my girls still go to a single sex school - which I’m glad the schools wish to continue this

Yes. This is where the correct language is vital. Teenage boys should not attend single SEX girls schools. Gender identity ideology changes nothing.

When plain speak is used people understand the point much clearer.

And 48% no girl should be permitted a single sex schooling experience, no single sex schooling experience for girls should be permitted to exist even if there are many multiple other options for mixed sex schooling available, because the existence of this is too upsetting for less than 1% of males .

Those males really need to get a grip.

As a previous poster said, this a newspaper poll and should be ignored (although I admit to having voted). It has nothing to do with the GDST and should do nothing whatsoever to sway the policy. Though no doubt we'll get the usual naive suspects imagining it will.

The GDST have already made their decision and updated their policy to reflect this.

The schools teach female pupils.

This has been in my local paper (although no poll this far) as there's two affected schools in the area. The poor reporting makes it pretty incomprehensible, as it is unclear by 'transgender girls' exactly what they mean in the first instance. It seems they mean girls who identify as boys or NB, then moves to the opposite. Completely different issues.

If it can't adequately be explained just what is going on, and the local paper only backs this up with selective supportive 'be kind' quotes from naive pupils who believe people are whoever they say they are, then the reality is never going to be addressed. It may or may not be deliberate, but it is yet more obfuscation that makes it easier to frame anyone raising concerns as a 't**f'.

Poor mental health and teens with trans identities seem to go hand in hand. They are correct on that one.

Glad to see the comments nailing all the misleading stuff in the article.

And almost everyone pointing out the rank sexism of demands to respect 'people', which doesn't ever appear to include women and girls.
