Just thought I'd drop this here.

Private Eye on JKR

@MargaritaPie

Daniel, Emma and Rupert have all spoke out in support of transpeople.

They also never mentioned Rowling's name at all during the reunion I believe.

Just thought I'd add this in.

Yes just as JKR spoke out in support of transpeople in her beautifully written essay. Speaking out in support of transpeople is nothing particularly laudable. However inexplicably she was turned on for suggesting that biological women can sometimes need single sex spaces e.g. when we are unclothed and more vulnerable or when we are victims of abuse living in refuges. The fact that anyone could take issue with those statements shows how little women's safety has been prioritised in this discussion and the real motives of those pushing self-ID as a policy.

JKR spoke out in support of transpeople

JKR spoke out in support of women who have experienced domestic violence.

She never even mentioned Daniel, Emma or Rupert in her rebuttal of various SM postings.

Just thought I'd add this in!

CompleteGinasaur · 10/01/2022 11:42

I also seem to remember that they were all very happy to talk about their respective friendships/relationships with JKR back in the days BFT (Before Forstater Tweets). Grovellingly enthusiastic, even..

Porfre · 10/01/2022 11:52

Much as I love the cartoon.

I think its unlikely they would be in that job.

Emma Watson has two lawyers for parents she would have ended up doing well for herself even if she didnt become a famous actress.

Daniel Radcliffe was already in a couple of dramas before he got the role of Harry. He may have continued. Its unlikely hes be as rich without JKR though.

Not sure about the other one

Exactly this.

Thank you (sorry for being so thick!)

Plenty of lawyers' children and children who have acted in a couple of dramas don't end up in high paying jobs, so I don't see why this cartoon is a stretch at all. These kids were fine, but none of them were extraordinarily gifted the way that Jodie Foster or Kieran Culkin or some other child actors turned out to be as adults. They were very, very, very, lucky children whose fortunes rest on the words of one woman whose words they now deny.

If you want to know if the other one would ever have managed to succeed as an actor then I refer you to the Apple TV series the Servant.

To save you the effort I will tell you. The answer is no, but on a positive note he would probably have had a good shot at being a door, or a table, or a tree or anything else that required being wooden, and having an inability to move or express emotion.

Quietstreets · 10/01/2022 15:51

So are the actors giving all of money they earned directly and indirectly (estimated) from Harry Potter to trans causes?

Or is there commitment to distancing themselves from all things JKR limited to cowardly bullying gestures of ostracisation, which have no negative repercussions for them whatsoever?

Their bravery in standing up for what they believe is admirable Hmm

MargaritaPie · 10/01/2022 16:57

@PrincessNutella

So in other words, they would be fast food workers?
They are attractive and very talented, I don't think they would have been fast food workers if it wasn't for the opportunity to act in HP.

Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?

TheMarzipanDildo · 10/01/2022 17:04

“Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?”

No, but my mum can (she’s not famous or well paid at all!)

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 10/01/2022 17:05

Margarita
There are hundreds of young talented actors out there. Most don’t make it. Even brilliant actors often need a breakthrough role to get them noticed. HP was a magical opportunity for all of them no matter how talented you think they are.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/01/2022 17:08

Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?

As it was a major teaching tool when I was a kid, yes! Give me a couple of hours to refresh my memory and I probably could

viques · 10/01/2022 17:10

“Attractive and very talented”

Oh Margarita Pie even for you that is stretching the truth to breaking point!

Haha! Pie is clueless.

I can write with both hands simultaneously.

Plus my dog is absolutely gorgeous and smiles on command. Where's his acting contract, eh, eh?

RoyalCorgi · 10/01/2022 17:17

Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?

I think you're trolling now.

Anyway, it's a cartoon. If we held cartoons to standards of complete adherence to the truth, there wouldn't be any point in them.

I doubt any of them would have become wildly successful actors earning the millions they made from HP but perhaps they would have gone to uni and got nice middle-class jobs.

TheElementsSong · 10/01/2022 17:17

Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?

I can sing it right now. See my username.

If this is considered serious evidence of "talent" or "intelligence" all I can do is Grin

Dear Righteous Daniel didn't write the song, nor the reworded lyrics. He just memorised it. Like I did, years ago. Except I suspect I know rather a lot more about science than Dear Righteous Daniel does.

ScreamingMeMe · 10/01/2022 17:21

Daniel can sing the periodic table, can you?

So can Sheldon Cooper.

Campervan69 · 10/01/2022 17:24

Daniel bless him is teeny tiny and not in the slightest bit sexy or attractive. Even at a stretch.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/01/2022 17:27

Yes, but mine will be c1980 and as we always knew - there would be many others, which by now have been discovered.

I am my own time capsule.

Call me TardisSamphireSaurus

ErrolTheDragon · 10/01/2022 17:31

Has anyone amended the song to include the elements which have been discaaarvard since Tom Lehrer wrote it?

DialSquare · 10/01/2022 17:31

Does anyone else wonder if the TRA monitors cringe at some of Margerita's posts? It must be like having Frank Spencer as a representative.
